Katrina said, "Good location on the Chaweng strip. Its reasonable price gets you a spot on the beach next to the more high end resorts. Away from the noise and yet close enough to the nightlife. Resort staff is warm and very accommodating. Facilities are clean and well maintained. Would recommend to price conscious travelers who also seek good service."

Christian said, "this was the third i visited The Island Resort. The rooms are still ok for the price and the Chaweng location but the breakfast has dramatically dropped in quality. I think that i will try another hotel on my next visit."

They immediately assigned me another room and after that, the experience was excellent after that. If you bring your laptop, you can purchase Cyberpoint Cards from the Reception. Very convenient. Fully agree with the feedback about good value for money."

Jillian said, "Little bit disappointed on arrival. The resort was a bit older than we expected.The service on arrival at the front desk was average.The deluxe bungalow was ok. Outside our bungalow was a bit smelly everytime you had a shower or flushed the toilet.It is ok if you are on a budget. I think I would stay somewhere different if there is a next time."

Mike said, "Hotel is conveniently located near shopping area, nightlife and local seafood restaurants. Ask reception for directions. Staff very helpful. Unfortunately the hotel s beachfront is full of rocks and not really swimmable. You will have to walk about half a kilometer south to get the nicer sandy beaches. Kids loved to feed the fishes there in the early evening, which are plentiful. Hotel pool is clean and nice with a deep section for adults and a shallow section for young children. We got the bungalow next to the pool - very convenient. Room was a decent size, nice, clean and everything was working. Prompt response from hotel staff when we reported a blown light bulb in our room. Overall, a great experience."

Yu-hsien said, "We are very lucky to stay in a bungalow near the swimming pool, with a view over the beach and shore at a comparatively low price. The room is clean, comfortable, and AIR-CONDITIONED.I think it s very thoughtful for the staff but quite unnecessary, because we are eco-travelers. As for the staff, during our 4-day stay, they were wearing smiles even though we asked too much. Though I don t know their names, they are really friendly. The security guard who can speak Mandarin Chinese is really nice. He does his job well."

If I should be picky, I think the smell of the swimming pool might prevent me from using it. Generally speaking, we are very enjoyable during our stay there."

Familly said, "We were a group of 24 people, rent 12 bungalows in the Island Resort and Spa in Chaweeng. We always go to Thailand this last 20 years ( 2 or 3 times per year, this country is our favorite country for holidays). The Island Resort and Spa is most horrible hotel we went. Staff do not undestand english, staff is really not enought in the restaurant. We wait for ONE hour after ordered ! , They call us on the phone at 5 AM for a safary we don t order... We order for an extra bed with extra towel... still waiting ! We order for an engineer to check TV... still waiting ! They refuse to make any commecial favor after complain ! The manager of the hotel don t care about the customer. The bigger problem was with one staff at the reception. We are going to the reception to discuss about a check out, she didn t want to discuss and ask for the security gard to take us out off the office. No discussion were possible with this staff. I am talking quikly with the manager, he did not take in charge our complain. This hotel, staff and every thing is not good. Do not go to this hotel until the staff and manager did not changed!"

Familly said, "Hotel conveniently located, beautiful beach, but a little old bungalows. The main problem was the staff :We had many problems with the restaurant and reception: They gave us the key to our bungalow, but when we opened it, surprise, it was not ready. The reception told us : yes we know , and didn t do anything. No staff to help us carry the luggage (we were with a baby of 7 months). As for the restaurant, waiting at least 45 minutes or 1 hour to get a meal.Not enough staff to the household: the last bungalow was cleaned that end of the day!And the household around the pool was never done : always sand around and in the pool.So, I don t recommend this hotel."

TAN said, "I was shocked to find that the room was quite a dump and it smelled bad too! Fortunately the noise of people talking and walking outside did not keep me up as I was too tired. The staff was quite unfriendly, probably becos we were Asians becos their attitude to the whites were definitley different. Quite shocking!"

The location is unbeatable.... close to the night life, shopping and on a great stretch of beach with direct beach access from the pool deck. Rooms are average but this is to be expected for a hotel in this price range. For me the location was more important than a fancy bedroom."

Bernard said, "The resort was a great value for the price. Rooms were clean , breakfast was good, and it was right in the middle of all the action but still quiet. The only problem I had was when my fiancé of 6 months showed up, she was not well received by some of the staff, let me explain, you see my fiancé is Thai, she is hard working in a legitimate job and was on her holidays as well as I. It had to be explained on more then one occasion that she was not one of THOSE girls that need to leave ID at the front door. We also felt snubbed at breakfast by some staff. This was somewhat understandable, but still uncomfortable, we did not have this problem in Phuket, Pattaya, or Bangkok. If traveling with a woman from Thailand be aware."

JD said, "Before I begin let me state that I was in one of the farthest rooms from the beach and definitely one that has not been renovated anytime recently. There were a couple of serious problems with this room. The most significant is the windows--They cannot be closed. As a result it is very noisy in the room from your neighbors or anyone out on their balcony...all day and all night. Second, it defeats the purpose of having an air conditioner. We were able to keep the room cool, but only by running the air nonstop the entire time we wer there.If you care about global warming definitely avoid this place. The bathroom was really old with a stained toilet. Water would not go down the shower so it was always flooded. I got out of the shower to wipe down with my towel only to find a few little worms crawling on it from somewhere!! Not once, but twice!No safe in the room so you had to use one in lobby . Fine, but why have to pay 20 baht everytime you want to access the safe? In addition, because it was in the back under the trees, there was a major mosquito problem.The reseptionists were some of the least friendly I ve had. The cleaning staff were very friendly and helpful so we left them a nice tip.The restaraunt was quite good for breakfast and the fresh seafood was excellent, but I would steer clear of the less fresh kitchen food. No problem with the location on the beach and an easy walk to 7-11 or the night clubs on soi green mango.Overall, I would definitely look elsewhere in the future, but could book here as a last resort if I got a better room."

Effie said, "We it is definetaly worth paying that bit extra. The bungalow was stunning and the view really is fantastic. You get your own little balcony with two chairs and a table, facing the ocean. The only downside is that the toilet is in the shower. But as long as you remember to remove the toilet paper before you shower that s no problem at all. All very clean and the service was excellent. All the staff are fantastic and I can also recommend the Spa for great and cheap massages and treatments. The resort is very central but compared to others not as big and more personal and quiet. Very beautiful and clean swimming pool. Would definetaly stay there again."

Emma said, "Hotel was great we helpfull. All tours were organised for us at reception with a discount which was very nice. Thai Food at the restraunt was great, but we mainly ate out. The Pool is clean and right on the sand to the beach. We restraunt. Rooms are clean, beds are nice and comfortable and the air con works perfectly. The hotel is right on the shopping strip of Chewang, so very convenient. All in all the best experience in Thailand I could have asked for."

It s not like described on the web site.The breakfast was so good, the beach is ok but you cannot go in the water because a lot of rocks inside.I ll prefer the hotels in the center on the beach of chaweng is it enougth quite.We booked for 3 days and we stay only 1 night, after we are gone to CHABA Hotel more expensive but all right."

Rebecca said, "This was my first stay at the Island Resort, but my second in Koh Samui. The room was good, clean and a nice size. I the hotel being heavily booked) I found the superior room to have a much better bathroom, compared to the delux, and the size was small but very managable. The food was good, not the best on the island but resonably priced and there is great service at the restaurant. The pool is very nice and the sun beds are great. The only problem is the beach, being in the lagoon the water is very shallow and there are some sharp shells and rocks hiding. Its about a 5min walk south to get to open water. Overall, my stay at the Island resort was good, I would stay there again!!"

Most of the staff were exceptionally helpful apart from one lady on reception who was quite rude. Overall, we had a lovely stay and would go back again..."

Megan said, "Nice hotel, good price. We booked a standard air bugalow. It was a clean room, spacious bathroom with nice grounds. The Island provided the best free breakfast we d had our entire trip and they changed the food each day. The only downside was that the beach in front of the hotel was not swimable while we were there due to low tide season. But, in return, was much quieter and only a short walk to swimming areas. I would definitely stay here again"

Outside you have your own deck/balcony overlooking the pool and beach, a nice place to sit for a drink.As the pool closes at 8pm it is not noisy if you wish to have an early night.The service from the staff was friendly and attentive and the bar drinks/food is priced competitively. Over all for value for money it was excellent and we would definitely stay there again.Loved it."
