Steven said, "Was a bit dissapointed with the location, aware that it is a 15min walk to the beach but this is along a very busy road. There was contruction work next door which we were not warned about and they would start at 7:30am and work 7 days a week. The staff however are very friendly and the service was good. The breakfasts were lovely and the restaurant meals were good value. The pool is lovely, although sun loungers would be better than deck chairs. The bungalow was very well decorated and comfortable."
Kristin said, "This is the best hotel I ve ever we never said, "Tranquil environment. Very friendly and helpful staff. Occaisional whiff of drains near the swimming pool. Lovely garden environment. Not such a romantic approach to Sunday Spa, over rough road etc."
Susan said, "This was our 2nd stay at Sunday s. Owners are friendly and have an adorable daughter and a friendly dog. Thanks to the 3 ladies in the front, very helpful and friendly. Pool is lovely. Food is really good at hotel. A bit of construction going on next door to resort but this did not really bother us. Spa is good. Only problem was cleaning ladies did not restock water/tea/coffee every day and clean towels were only returned later during the day. Will defintely return. Thanks to all at Sundays. This place is a real gem, well worth the stay."
Sayid said, "friendly people.. superb room for a reasonable price. very peaceful, just how i like it.."
Birraux said, "Staff friendly and always there to help you opposite to management who never tell you a simple hello or give you a smile..Some trouble during my stay (building in works just near, no Tv,...). Anyway,Good location not far on foot for Fisherman Village."
Adekunle said, "Sundays has everything needed for the perfect chill out break...well designed pool villas,(clean and modernist inside but really old school beach hut looking from the outside) great open air pool (you really feel as if you are swimming in the middle of the jungle) fantastic spa (according to my new wife) and really friendly staff. The food is pretty good too and they have at least a 100 DVDs for you to watch free of charge. The only negatives are that it is a pretty long (15 minutes.), hot and dusty walk to Bophut town. But as that is the only activity we did all day, it wasn t so bad. I am sure that once this place gets better known the prices will triple. So go soon! Great for finishing off a visit to the island."
Katherine said, "The resort is beautiful and so peaceful. The service we recieved was very friendly and helpful, and the rooms are stunning. You are guaranteed a relaxing break, and the amazing spa is also a major asset to the resort."
Miss said, "This hotel is very good location for fishermans village literally 10 mins walk. Two people are put in a bungalow each. The staff are so friendly and food excellent (better than some local cuisine. It is like a sanctuary and you do have to walk up a dark road but it gives you a country feel. My honest comments to the Manager are I think the hotel looks unfinished, they just need a few more finishing touches and it would be perfect. There is also building going on around the place during the day but it didn t keep us awake during the night. It is very dark at night and could do with more lighting, I wouldn t recommend for disabled people. My only big grudge is the bathroom please lighten it up dark grey, it is very open and you have to keep the door shut for the mosquitos, if this was more closed in it would have been more of a pleasant experience. Also the mirror is positioned in the wrong place with the plugs and we had to buy a small mirror to dry our hair. The pool is nice but very dark. There are only a few people in the hotel 11 bedrooms and I liked the fact we were often the only people at the swimming pool and in the hotel as i can t stand busy hotels. It was definatey homely. The staff do go home quite early and it would have been nice if the bar had been kept open later. I would definately recommend for couples who would like to get away from it all but please let the manager know my comments and I do hope he will sort them as it could be such a lovely place to stay and I am more likely to come back but they need to sort out just a few issues and it would be paradise."
Samantha said, "Sundays Sanctuary is indeed a sanctuary. Perfect place to relax. The bungalows were clean and well decorated. There was a bit of construction going on around the place but to be honest, the atmosphere was so chilled and relaxed the background noise wasn t a problem at all. I would have liked the addition of hammocks on the terrace to go for that all-out relaxed vibe! I would recommend this to anyone wanting a get-away from it all holiday. We did go down to the beach on an evening which was a 10 minute stroll or 200baht taxi - not a problem. Did try the beach one daytime but found it hard to get a sunlounger and also, much preferred the pool to be honest which surprised me - I thought I was a complete beach lover. I guess Sundays managed to change that."
Wendy said, "This little hotel is nothing short of outstanding in every way. Our room was beautifully decorated and huge with lovely stone bath and shower. The pool area is beautiful and it was difficult to tear ourselves away to go to the beach with such lovely surroundings right in front of our room. Our meal in the restaurant was delicious. The staff and service were were fantastic. Very highly recommended indeed."
gertruida said, "We had a very nice stay there. Swimming pool is great, They can do something to the reception area, Not very nice. They do play good jazz music and very friendly staff. Recomendable."
Mark said, "Great hotel, we ll definitely be returning if we go back. Not only was it nicely tucked away, it was close enough to everything we wanted to see (or a scooter ride away, anyway). Sanctuary is the right word, the cottages are surrounded by lots of plants, making you feel you re in the middle of a rainforest (accentuated by the frogs and lizards you see scurrying around occasionally). The plants also hide the other cottages nicely.Staff were helpful and friendly, and the food was great too. Plus when we decided to stay in one night as my wife wasn t feeling well, there was a plethora of DVDs available to rent, free. The only problem was that there was building work going on outside the resort, but this had little impact on us. During the day we were mostly gone and at night the works were stopped. The fact this is the worst thing I can think of just shows how much we enjoyed it. Didn t try the spa services, unfortunately.Very satisfied!"
Mr said, "Positives:- The hotel is nice and clean. Very peaceful atmosphere with a Zen touch. Internet is free... Nice Steam Room. Also can borrow DVDs to watch.Had an enjoyable stay.Negatives:-250B for the auto bike was a bit too much. The Spa pool was not working when we we were there; supposedly due to no rain ??No Hot water for shower - even tho we highlighted it to the reception.Road to hotel not well lit and has holes."
Dave said, "Very relaxing stay for our family, the staff were great and the food was all freshly cooked and excellent quality. Highly recommended - we will stay here again next time we come to Samui.Transport is useful to get around and the resort can provide this at excellent rates."
Daniel said, "Cannot recommend the Sundays highly enough. The resort itself is fantastic; very relaxing. But the real credit goes to the attentive and friendly staff, who really go out of their way to help. The food and accomodation is of a very high standard, and the resort offers real value for money. Superb resort - only 10 bungalows so always quiet."
Andrew said, "I had a very relaxing time at Sundays. The accomodation was excellent and all of the staff very friendly and helpful. The flora surrounding the accomodation and swimming pool is very well established which increases the sense of privacy. The area in which the wraps, massages and steams etc is very well designed and concealed within the small complex. The only fly in the ointment was Koh Samui s perennial problem of construction noise; it is virtually unavoidable on KS given its uncoordinated building boom. That said, at Sundays it was minimal as the heavy work on another lot was complete. If I go back to KS I will go back to Sundays."
Tan said, "This is a nice place to stay as we can enjoy a quiet and peaceful time that we are looking for. It has a great and beautiful landscape surround the resort. The service from the staff a great. Overall, it is truly great place to stay."
Helen said, "We had a lovely time at this resort. The room was great and the bed extremely comfy. The pool was really good as it s pretty big so good for swimming, we had it to ourselves most of the time. The service was great and the staff very friendly. We ate at the restaurant quite a bit and the good was really good. The only slight down side was quite a bit of noise from building work opposite, hopefully this will be finished soon though."
Judith said, "We had a wonderfull and pleasant stay at Sundays. The bungalows were spacious and absolutly comfortable. The staff was great and very very friendly. Its a 15 min. walk to the nearest beach but we didn t mind that really. Due to low season, there were, close to the resort, constructionworkers busy during the day but since we were out during daytime it didn t bother us that much. Regards Judith & Wendy"
Susan said, "Lovely friendly staff. Don t be put off by the photo of the pool, the phto does not do it justice. Its the best pool i ve ever swam in, pool beds I think need to be replaced. Lovely shade by the pool and there is plenty of sun. Excellent food, especially the Thai food and really good value for money. Had manicure and pedicure at the spa, really professional. The beds in the rooms were extremely comfortable. If you are looking for peace and a place to relax, then this is the place to visit. I wished it was longer. Not really a place for small kids, the bathrooms were far too rustic for me, must have been a male who designed them as we had far too many large gheko s which my 7 year old daugher did not enjoy. Get rid of the bath s as I don t think anybody uses them, but on the whole it was a real pleasant stay and we will definately stay again. Thank you to all the staff at Sunday s."
Geoff said, "We were a little worried when the taxi driver couldn t find the hotel and then when we saw the road going up, but it was worth the search. A jewel hidden in the jungle! What a quiet, restful little place. We had the swimming pool almost completely to ourselves, breakfast was great and the room nice and clean. Only thing was the safe was not attached to the wall! But, we never really felt the need for it, we always felt so safe there. The walk to town is about 10 minutes and good for burning a few calories before enjoying dinner at one of the many excellent restaurants at the beach! Had a great time and would recommend this hotel."
Claire said, "The reviews from other guests found on sawadee.com for Sundays are reliable.Indeed,it is really a sanctuary for those who prefer nature peace.People are very pleasant & helpful. Those who do not want to get out of the resort can loan DVDs, magazines & books from them FOC!The spa is nice too."
Jan said, "Everything s perfect ,honestly!Highly recommend!"
Gary said, "The resort is set in beautiful surroundings, great care has been taken when building not to disturb the trees and they have built around them.!A very quiet location, and you should hire some transport for a few days to check out some of the beautiful beaches on the island. The food was excellent both in choice and price, although the breakfast menu was very limited."
Emma said, "We loved our stay at the Sunday Sanctuary. The people were very helpful & friendly & could not do enoigh for us. The pool was lovely area very relaxing & the bungalows were traditional & clean."
Christina said, "Small Bungalow Resort - Lovely and quiet - much privacy. Very nice and modern rooms. Beautiful swimming pool and Spa! Delicious Food! Little bit away from the main road (motorbike recommended). Nice Fishermen village (great dinner posibilities) only a few minutes away. Very obliging staff. A quiet place on Samui and by motorbike only 10 - 15 minutes to touristy places like Chaweng. Negative: preconcerted Taxi service didn´t come (5 am) so we nearly missed the flight!"
Zoe said, "The approach to the hotel is up a very dusty road with a lot of building work going on but once you reach the resort it is beautiful. The rooms are nicely designed and clean with outdoor bathrooms which are beautiful even if the local wildlife are keen to be in there too! The setting is very green and like a jungle with the beautiful large pool in the centre of the bungalow rooms. The spa is gorgeous - great treatments and so calm. The food is great the staff were very nice and helpful. Free internet access. The beah at Bophut is about a 15 minute walk away down a very busy road but you can get a taxi in five minutes and it is very reasonable. Only downside is that the restaurant shuts at 9pm but this was not so bad for us as we had a toddler to put to bed. Highly recommended."
Sofie said, "WONDERFUL.The sundays is just perfect!!Wonderful garden, beautiful design room, enormous pool and the staff is very friendly. And their dog is too cute!!!"
surene said, "A gem of a hotel - laid back, quiet, and inexplicably, a few degrees cooler than the rest of the island!! Nice grounds, comfortable rooms, helpful staff, good music in the restaurant/lobby area."
Antony said, "There is a big crack on the road of the main entrance, hotel should have it fixed first. After 8pm, no service will be provide anymore, the air-con in our room was not working, and we can t find anyone to help us, but luckily it went back normal after a few hours. As the rooms were built on the hill, the only to get into rooms is a wooden steps, so is t not easy to move the luggages into the rooms. You would need your own car to get back to the main street, as no taxi will go up to the private hill road waiting for you. However, it s a very good place for those who would like to hide in a forrest like hotel and relax."
Leeann said, "The bungalow is very beautiful. Modern and peaceful. Although it needs to be taken care of, especially when it rains. It is located a little bit far from the beaches but believe me, you would not want to stay in a hotel which is situated on the main road, cause it is a very busy road!! Good choice especially if you want to relax. People are really nice, they even sent us a taxi for free to collect us from the airport. Nice people. Very clean and again peaceful."
Law said, "Quiet and peaceful atmosphere. Good location, although a 10 minutes walk to main road is required. Fitting out works in progress around resort, but not big deal! Great staff service, lovely breakfast and spa, too!"
JEFF said, "Lovely, quiet bungalow resort with Spa. You need transport to get about but service was wonderful. Down side was very limited TV programmes when raining. Highly recommended and good value for money."
Grant said, "From the welcome to the goodbye all was wonderful. The room, the pool & the grounds & especially the staff were really good. Looking forward to my next visit when I will try the spa."
Ada said, "We had an amazing time at the resort and it is a warm and friendly boutique hotel. The bungalows are new, clean, private and nicely decorated in style with a bushy surrounding. Staffs are very friendly and food are fabulous as well as the spa/massage house - I especially enjoy the massage in the natural leafy environment with warm breezes. We didn t want to leave the resort during our 3 nights stay there, and would definitely recommend it to any travellers who wants a peaceful and relaxing getaway. The fishermans village is within walkable distance and you will have to arrange transportation if you want to go to the other beaches."
A.Brooks said, "Excellent, highly recomended. I felt it was great value, all the staff were really helpful and friendly, rooms minimalist but very comfy. Quiet setting - nice and relaxing all in all. Everything was pretty fairly represented on the website. My g/f loved the spa. Close to Bo Phut Fisherman Village which is pretty good but recomend yopu think about renting a scooter or car to travel further afield. I recomend the Italian resteraunt nearby too! (Bravo Pizzeria)"
c.j.f. said, "we had a splendid time. A very relaxed atmosphere, rooms clean and nice furnished with the last trends. Each room tv inclusive dvd player, many dvd s at the reception, free of charge. Very nice breakfast at any time of the day (so when you would like to sleep a bit longer, no problem) Excelent kitchen (you had to wait a bit long, and don t ask for 9 persons at the same time, only one person in kitchen) People were very charming and kind, swimmingpool much better than you can see on the photo s on the site. Close to the beach and Fisherman s village (5 min. by mocycle or car/taxi)where you will meet many romantic rests. We really hope to visit the resort again. Very recomendable!"
Beth said, "Absolutely lovely place to stay. Peaceful, new, modern, simple, clean but with plenty of atmosphere. Lovely gardens and great pool! Not on beach, but easy to hire a jeep or a motorbike and 5 mins to Bo Phut fishing village. We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend to those wanting a peaceful holiday. Thanks so much to the staff and owners. Hope we see you again soon, and Lamut too! Good luck to you."
JOSE said, "The Sundays Sanctuary Resort & Spa was a wonderful place to stay. The staff was friendly and attentive yet respectful of your privacy. The resort was quiet and well kept. The rooms (individual bungalows) were large and the semi-open bathrooms unique and charming yet completely private. The A/C, refrigerator, TV and DVD worked great and there was plenty of nice clean towels both for bathing and the pool. The pool was surprisingly large, well kept, and had many sunny and shaded spots. The gardens were well maintained and provided much welcome shade during the hot afternoons and privacy for each bungalow. The free internet (2 computers available) and WiFi was a nice way to stay connected with friends and news at home. There was also a large selection of free DVDs to watch and a billiards table to occupy your time. The onsite spa was spectacular and the staff truly wonderful. I would highly recommend trying the spa and any of its many massage packages (a complimentary voucher for the steam room was provided). The restaurant was good though pricy if you chose to eat in. I recommend going out to Chaweng at its many restaurants for better dining. If you want to save some money on food, there is Tesco Lotus about 3 km away in Chaweng to buy some groceries or eat in the food court. If there was one drawback to the resort was its distance to a nice beach. You really need to rent a motorcycle or vehicle (you can rent the resort s mini SUV for much less than other car rentals if you feel adventurous) in order to get to the nicer beaches (Chaweng, Lamai, Maenam, etc) on Koh Samui. Bophut Beach, which is the nearest beach (10-15 min walk), is hardly suitable for many beach activities though the Fisherman s Village has a few good restaurants and shops. You can catch one of the songtaews (pickup buses) for 20-50 Baht/ride on the main ring road to go to Chaweng, Lamai, Maenam or Nathon. I suggest you spend the first part of your stay on Koh Samui at one of the Chaweng or Lamai beach hotels to access a nicer beach and then stay at Sundays to relax before leaving Koh Samui. Overall, the resort was great (9 out 10) and highly recommended. You won t regret staying there!"
Sharon said, "A great place to relax and get away from the noisy city life. The rooms are clean and their outdoor bathroom is unique too! With the size of the room and the comfort is worth more than you are paying. They also provide free spa voucher, free dvds to borrow, free pool to play, free internet to use and their swimming pool is big and beautful. The staff is very friendly and sincere. It just make you feel at home. The only downside is the long road out to the main road is scary to walk at night. However the resort is so comfortable that you wil not feel like going out. They even allowed me to check out at 8pm without any extra charge!"
Beverley said, "I can t speak highly enough of The Sundays resort. We arrived after a long journey from the UK and were greeted by Panya the Manager with the friendliest welcome of iced tea and an explanation and short tour of the resort. The bungalows are simple yet have everything you could possibly need - nothing has been left out and Panya and his team went out of their way to help us whether we were looking for a restaurant recommendation or local sites. The infinity pool is beautiful and can be seen from each bungalow and the whole resort has the most peaceful and beautiful back-drop of palms and flowers. Total relaxation here whilst being close enough to the beach and restaurants which are a short walk away..but with fantastic food on site should you not be able to drag yourself away from the resort! The website does not remotely do justice to the beauty of the resort and the quality of treatment you receive as a guest. I would recommend staying here to anyone who is looking for a break away. Massage and pampering at the Spa is also a must!"
Derek said, "A lovely cosy secluded resort - internet photos do not do it justice. Big rooms and great pool and setting.Hired a jeep for 9 days for £80 and drove round whole Island. Would not stay anywhere else should I return. Bophut is nice and relaxed with some great places to eat. Some good secluded and deserted beaches can be foun on West of the Island. We highly recommend this hotel."
P said, "Sunday Resort without doubt beautiful accomodation. We a beautiful pool, this is the place for you. Unfortunately for us, there was construction work underway with the sound of chainsaws marring the pristine beauty of our surroundings. The staff, food and courtesy extended was flawless."
Julie said, "Hotel was small and friendly with only 10 rooms. Very peaceful and tranquil with fantastic rooms and swimming pool. The surrounds are very pretty with lots of tropical plants, butterflies and dragonflies. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food also fantastic. All in all a GREAT hotel with a GREAT atmosphere, a great location to really chill. The fishermans village is only a very short walk away, where you will find lots of small fantastic resturants and a lovely beach (very fine shale). You may need a small torch for the path from the main road on your way back from the fishermans village at night. We visited a number of villages around the island but Bophut was definately the best. Stay away from Chaweang as this is like Blackpool in the sun! Make sure you get good directions to the Sundays as the taxi drivers are not all aware of it s location as this hotel has only been open for 1½ years and is very small and set off the main road."
Erin said, "I was really sad we only got to spend one night at this place! It s not on the beach, but we didn t mind because we had already it s a short walk to the cute and busy Fisherman s Village. It was a little weird when we drove up because it s still obviously under construction, but the restaurant, pool, and the rooms they let you stay in are done so no worries. The rooms have huge beds and a DVD player (and you can check out a big range of movies/episodes from reception). The bathroom is slightly open air, but no one can see in or anything. The pool is very peaceful and in an awesome jungle-like setting. The restaurant serves a great breakfast and there s a free pool table which my husband and I enjoyed- oh- and free internet! The staff is very friendly and helpful. I would recommend a few nights in this quiet resort to anyone- especially couples and families."
Miriam said, "It was dreadful. Nobody came to pick me up in the begining. When I checked in the Manager was great, but the rest was a joke. They were building a bungalow right next door to me it was like living next to a construction site. They were constantly banging, and a couple that had been there before me said it was on going. The whole place is one construction site, and will be for quite some time I can see. Not just Sundays itself, but right next door too. The ad to this hotel is completely misguiding. Tranquil it is NOT."
S. said, "WOW, WOW, WOW. I am so sorry that we only were able to stay one night. This hotel was the nicest one that we . The bunglows are modern and the beds so comfortable. The outdoor bathrooms are definitely interesting and the deep bathtubs are great. The staff is fabulous!!!! They were so very helpful and kind. There are only 10 bungalows on the property and so the spot is so quiet and serene. The pool is also absolutely beautiful. I will be suggesting this hotel for many years to come. It might be a good idea to show taxi drivers a map to the hotel as many didn t know where it was (because it is a fairly new resort). The sign from the road is hard to see, especially at night although they have just built a coffee bar on the main road with the same name. You should try and include this tropical location in our travel plans....i know that we will be back!"
Michelle said, "Very highly recommended! Wonderful resort & service. The rooms are stylish, well designed and very comfortable with a lot of thought to detail - slippers & pool towels to name but two little touches. The only thing missing in the room for me was tea/coffee making facilties. The outdoor bathroom was great although I would have preferred the toilet to be sealed off from the elements - risk of mosquito bites when you nip out in the middle of the night! You were made to feel incredibly welcome and it was a wonderful place to relax. Lovely pool which we had to ourselves the whole time. It was only a 10/15 minute walk into the Fishermans Village and a little bit further to a good part of the beach. The restaurant served really good food if you didn t want to walk into the village. Can t really recommend this place highly enough especially once the new spa is completed! If its peace, relaxation & style you re after, this is the place!"
Glynn said, "This was a lovely hotel, with friendly staff , the huts were a little dark but clean and comfortable, pool and beach lovely and great access for the ferry to Koh phangan. The town is small but found a lovely French Restuarant which we reccomend."
