Mr said, "Moon Hut Bungalows is great, a lovely spot on the beach with bar and restaurant, I d definitely recommend it if you want to chill out in one of the less touristy parts of Ko Samui. You can have a basic but comfortable bungalow for 500 baht or pay more for aircon and a sea view. Staff friendly and if you stay here you can t help but meet other people.Don t expect crystal clear waters. The sea was very clean but not the place to come for snorkelling, it is also very shallow, you can swim out 60m and still stand up. The beach around the whole bay was clean with white sand.Walking along the beach there are a number of bar/restaurants and Mae Nam has plenty more on the main road set back a bit from the beach. Most are local restaurants, one or two run by expats. Lots of interesting local shops and markets. If you want a place that s relatively undeveloped and you re not bothered about partying till 3am then Mae Nam could be the place for you, and Moon Hut Bungalows hits the spot perfectly."

Claus said, "We have It was a nice experience. We where a family with 2 children and lived in their familybungalow. Its a quiet place placed direcly on the beach. Next time we visit Samui - we will stay here again.The staff is very friendly and helpfull."

Rent a motorbike worked perfect.The room is a bit small, and in the bathroom were some tiny animals. We lived next to the restaurant, so it was a bit loud. But on the whole a nice place to stay."

Andrey said, "A nice quiet place, lots of vegetation and birds, the beach is small and clean. Very friendly girls at the reception, they were always ready to help. Room service leaves something to be desired - the cleaning wasn t perfect (although the bungalow was tiny, actually, almost nothing to clean!) and the sheets obviously weren t changed every day. But that was compensated by the scenery, great food at the restaurant and friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Maybe we ll be back someday :)"

Walter said, "We spent 3 days there. Nice and quiet beach, the room was basic but clean,bathroom was OK, A/C worked perfekt, only the bed sheet had been very rough and was not be changed. The restaurant is nice, breakfast was good only Dinner is a bit expensive and the Staff very slowly so we walked 3 minutes rightsites along the beach and found a good an cheap restaurant.All in all we had a nice stay and can recommend it."

J. said, "We had one of three beechfront a/c bungalows. Not mentioning a few noisy geco lizards inside it was nice and cleaned every day.The restaurant is rather expensive and they lift the prices even more just day before Christmas. You wouldn t find out this on sawadee.com. What they also do they let you eat and drink and you pay when you check out so be careful. But what happened on Christmas day we never forget! We had 3 small beers and 2 drinks with my wife at local bar and when I paid they want for us to pay for 5 beers plus drinks. The owner gave me back 120 baht after I complained and get no word of appology. I said I dont like this attitude and she told us very publicly: If you don t like it then f..k of. From that time we did nt buy anything from there and as we plan going to Thailand next time again we re sure to go somewhere else!"

Claire said, "Although we had planned to spend 10 days here, we left after 3. The island was hit quite badly by storms and floods, which was part of the reason for leaving early, but this hotel was really rather poor. The staff were miserable and hardly spoke, the bungalow was a room with a bed (with grubby sheets), a wardrobe, and the most awful bathroom (a shower and a toilet sharing the same space, neither particularly clean). The day before we left the cleaner took away the towels and didn t leave any clean ones. We were glad to leave early."

Arthur said, "I liked:Friendly staff, easy bike/jeep rental - they deliver it to you and include to the total, nice beach, end-to end service.I didnt: 1 huge cockroach in my bed when I arrived - but I killed him.I will think on staying again if I go to Samui."

Mattias said, "Very nice hotel. The hotel is away from the crowd. We had a standard bungalow which was ok. The beachfront bungalows are probably the best one. Good beachside restaurant. The sea is good for swimming but don’t expect crystal-clear water. Don’t forget the thai massage with sea view. They had a funny dog which was the whole day bathing in the sea. I haven’t seen such a dog before. We can recommend it!"

Marlene said, "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Moonhut. The AC bungalow was perfect - cleaned daily, comfortable and the location was brilliant. The staff were always very welcoming and very helpful. We hired a jeep from them which was perfect for us and gave us the freedom we wanted. The beach there was one of the best on the island. Food at Moonhut was always nice - they did the best spring rolls and banana fritters in Thailand - anywhere else on the island and in Bangkok couldn t beat it. the rest of the food was always nice - we never had a bad meal there.I would definitely recommend Moonhut to anyone wanting a lovely place to stay with a quiet clean beach without rocks and good for swimming and there were no rowdy crowds, but at the same time it was not a dead place either. I would also like to say thanks to Moonhut for saving our day when our transport to the airport never turned up - they organised us a taxi in a flash.Excellent accommodation and service which we would definitely use again. I normally go 4* on holidays, but this was really good value for money and definitely up to standard - the pics on the website do not lie - you get what you see in the pics."

Karin said, "Perfect. We the restaurant has good food, good choice of breakfast and thai food. Very quiet location, you can still experience the nature of Kosamui.The beach is very clean and quiet with very nice view. Staff very friendly and always available. Try a massage just at the beach, where Kwan and her cousines will treat you with a good massage and a very warm welcome. The main road is just a few minutes away where you can get taxis to Chaweng..only 15 minutes away. Try the Thai restaurants in the nearby village where you can still eat for only THB 50. Moonhut is a real nice place to spend the holiday. We have seen other places and looked at other accomodations in Chaweng and Lamai as well as in Maenam but Moonhut Bungalows has the best location. I can really recommend it and if it happens we would come back to Kosamui I will surely come to Moonhut again."

Only a scooter ride away from chaweng and lamai- can hire them from the reception as well as jeeps. at night the little bar/restraunt was enchanting overlooking the ocean - would be good for a less roudy couple i think.happy travelling"

Vera said, "We well-kept. The bed is a bit hard and the shower VERY cold, other than that it was very nice. We can definitely recommend to stay there.The beach is beautiful and not too busy. The complete atmosphere is very relaxed and easy going. It is a bit difficult to get around from there as it is a bit secluded, so we rented a small Jeep."

Jan said, "First of all, we think that it is really nice to rent a bungolow there. Because, the bungolows are really nice and clean (our bungalow (with AC) get cleaned every day), just a few steps to a very good swimming beach, nice people, good food and there are severeral restaurant along the beach. All in all it was a really nice and cheap stay, thus we would go there again if we go to Koh Samui next time."

Peter said, "A first sight it looks amazing. The bungalows are nice, and the restaurant and beach-bar looks great. But staying there more than 5 minutes you find out that it is NOT so. We had no hot water, even though we complained ( after that it worked for 2 hours and then again no hot water). The restaurant is rather expencive and the food not really that tasty, and the waiting time....25 minutes for sandwich or snack is normal. The beach-bar has a perfect location just at the beach but not really fair prices and it closes at 10 o clock, even that we were 9 people who sat quitly talking and would like a drink or two more!! The place looks great on the web site (and in reallity) but it´s not worth the money, will never use it again."

Paul said, "We booked the Family Bungalow, conveniently close to the excellent beach. The rooms themselves were pretty basic, but clean and cleaned daily. Very friendly staff but not very helpful manager who seemed more interested in his speedboat. Pretty dismal kitchen, not recommended. Overall: satisfactory value for money, but other resorts in Maenam (i.e. Pinnacle and Florist) offer additional services -such as swimming pool, beach towels etc- at comparable prices."

Artem said, "Nice and cheap hotel, were staying togather with my wife during 12 days. Cleaning every day, but one time they trashed during cleaning one important receipt (it was on the table, not in the trash can) which we planned to use. So, hide all important things before going to the beach :) Restaurant is a bit expensive, but you can walk to the left or right on the beach and find many others.You can also rent a bike (150 BAT/day, do not forget a helmet) or a car on the reception. Be very careful when driving in Thailand, it is very easy to fall down from the bike, there are often sand on the road."

I rang Alister who runs and owns Moonhut Bungalows to see if we could have an extra day because of this mistake in our travel itinerary, and it was no problem what so ever.So after booking in, we kicked off our shoes and just relaxed for the rest of our stay of 5 days.The place is well run the staff are friendly and very helpfull. The bungalows are clean and neat the towels are changed daily and the food is fantastic as is their bar and the girl who makes the cocktails.The only little thing that was wrong was the mattresses on the bed were very hard.But the place is set in a beautiful setting right on the beach. You can hear the sea lapping up on the sand at night after everything has died down. You only have to walk a few yards and you are in the water. You re able to sit in chairs on the beach and drink you cool drinks watching the sun go down, or get a massage from the people next door right on the beach. Moonhut is set back off the main road a little way but not so far that you can t walk it. They hire motorbikes also. All in all I would not hesitate to return there, and only hope that we do one day.. So if you need somewhere to unwind it s just the spot. It is more suited towards families with young children and older people. That is why it is nice and quiet.Well done Moonhut. Hope to visit again soon.Mrs.Pryor"

Rainer said, "The bungalow was clean but there was no table on the balcony.Terrible noise from 8:00 a.m up to 9:00 p.m because there are three new bungalows under construction.Even no silence by night,barking dogs at least three hours every night.The street to the resort is extremly muddy and slippy after rain, difficult to reach by bike.The service was good and the people very kind,the food tasty."

Karin said, "Very nice place. I rented the cheapest bungalow, and thow it had a really good standard. Very clean, sober and nice. The garden were SO beautyfull! The beach was so nice and it was cleaned every morning. Moonhut is a bit far from the mainroad, so remember to put a flashlamp in your packing. The food and restaurant was very good. Nice staff( but I would apprichiate a lilte more english.)The whole MahNam beach is so nice and sober. If you want to have a quiet and stressless stay, rent a room at Moonhut. I can absolutly recommend Moonhut and I next time I visit Samui, I will stay there again."

Staff is friendly and helpful, the beach is nice and quiet.Food s good, try the tamarind squid/prawns!When we rented a motorbike from them and got a flat tire they arrived within 20 minutes, picked up the bike, and got it back to us at the place where we were waiting and having dinner with a new tire in another 15 minutes!!Overall very good."

Stina said, "Lovley place to stay, if you looking for an relaxing atmosphere.The landlord was absolute fantastic,friendly and helpfull,the staff was also fantastic,me and my husband his lovely wife Kwan.I can recomend this place greatly.The bungalows are clean and nice. The staff tidy up the bungalows every day and provide clean towels also every day.The resturant served us really good food, every meal was made of fresh rawmaterials. And my big thanks to George the dog, who watched the area and kept it safe all the time!He is a great dog.The beach are clean and fine,but the water is a little bit muddy,so you can´t snorkel there. It is a quiet and calm place to stay.You can rent motorbikes at the resort to,and the motorbikes are very reliable, we drive the whole island around with the motorbikes and had no problems what so ever(exept one day when we had an puncture, but Alistair did take care of that,and we got another motorbike).Big thanks to jiew who is an exellent dancer and coctail maker.We really hope that we can take our whole family to Moonhut and spend a relaxing holiday at the resort.Would definitely stay there again. If you are visiting Samui don´t think of staying anywhere else.THANK YOU ALL AT MOONHUT FOR MAKING OUR HOLIDAY GREAT, WE REALLY DID ENJOY!!! :-)"

Isabelle said, "It was very pleasant and I would recommend the Moonhut to others if they are looking for peaceful and relaxed atmosphere. The only warning I might give is that the bed a little hard... so if you don t mind a hard bed to sleep on, then it s ok. The beach was great, the food very decent (service a little slow), the staff friendly (especially the folks at the massage hut) and overall I had a great time. Jim the owner was very helpful and that was appreciated."

Steve said, "We his family run a typically thai restaurant & we found to be very honest when the cleaners discovered my mobile phone I left behind! Jude makes good cocktails at teh bar overlooking the beach, good value at happy hour. Beach was quiet, lovely & sandy & decent for swimming. Massages available on the beach. Access road from main road to resortis a dirt track & unlit, avoid puddles if wet. No problem but take a torch. We caught songthaews which ran regularly & had no problems getting to Bophut & Chaweng. Alistair is very helpful & will organise anything you need such as trips round the island by boat or taxi. After Moonhut we went to Koh Tao & Koh Phangan & would highly recommend this resort as it is lovely & excellent value for money & we are hoping to return next year."

George said, "My wife and I the Moonhut Bungalow was by far the best value for money. Moonhut Bungalow is exacly as described on sawadee. The hosts, and their staff were outstanding. The bungalows are very clean, the food was delicious, and catered for all tastes (including young children). We wish that we could have a hot water shower. On arrival our room was clean and well presented with a hanging area and safety deposit box. The staff were friendly and helpful. The beach at the front was a little narrow and the sand a bit rougher then expected. We were disappointed by the poor visibility of the water, but it appeared to be clean enough. The beach is not ideally situated for the sun and loses it in the afternoon. We felt that this resort was best suited to families with young children, rather than a youngish couple like ourselves. The owners were very family friendly and the way the bungalows were laid out made it quite a safe environment for children to play in. Unfortunately, we were looking for something romantic which is not always conducive with children playing."

Kevin said, "POSITIVES: Located quite centrally in Maenam. The staff were very friendly. The drinks were well priced and the food was tasty. Its right on the beach. The accommodation is basic and the hotel is bargirl friendly with no overnight guest charges. NEGATIVES: I was eaten alive by mites in the bed linen. The road to the hotel from the main Samui ring road is about 200M and has NO lights. This would not be safe for females walking on their own at night in my opinion. It is basically a twisting sand track with lots of holes filled with water. Even driving to the hotel in a friends jeep was EXTREMELY bumpy. To be fair, I must add that the island had just experienced a very heavy prolonged rainfall. I had expected a TV in the room but there was none."
