Helle stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2008-03-17 and said, "Nice place with a wonderful garden and swimmingpool. Stayed in the beachfront bungalows, basic rooms but clean. Staff very friendly. Great beach, probably the best on Chaweng Beach. Restaurant was overpriced but breakfast was ok.We had a great time, and would stay here again."
Trudie stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2008-02-23 and said, "i booked in for 6 days but only stayed for 3 i booked the beachfront bungalow which is right on the beach and payed £83 a night but had 2 extra beds which was 2 camp beds very small for a extra £25 per night so was paying £107 per night and i wasnt happy with the room it was very basic with a cement bathroom and the shower has 2 windows that looked out to the bedroom so when my 2 teenage daughters was showering we had to leave the room has there was no privaty, 2 family members stayed in the pool bungalow and the shower had all the wires hanging out and they are all rusty outside we did not like it at all we stayed at baantalay 3 or 4 times before but they have let it go and not inproved it but just put there prices up"
Trudie stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2008-02-23 and said, ""
Stefan stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2008-02-04 and said, "It was OK"
Claes stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2007-12-29 and said, "We thought the resort as very nice, we had a room down by the pool, close to the restaurant ) the room was cleaned daily fresh towels, good bathroom and the shower actually worked well, all tiled floor - water in the fridge, daily - beds made etc, even with 2 messy Teenagers it worked out really good) we loved the pool -- is was the best! Special pool towels was available . The garden around very nice, and this end of the beach much better. The only thing some people booked “their? beach chairs in the morning with towels)) not a problem for me ! just get up a bit earlier and “Bob’s our Uncle”They had a small straw hut with a bar) this I would redesign to make it more inviting ) the breakfast was really good and the restaurant area clean, staff very help full )) mind you! We treated them with a smile They even cooked us a special dinner with Tiger Prawns that my son and I went out and got at the market )) ?this will remain our secret they were only 300 Bath per Kg )) the only thing was the clear wind plastic pull downs in the restaurant area some of them had been left to long and would not come down. And the pool loungers) the plastic covered foam things was very heavy with water)) could be fixed just by rolling them tight to squeeze the water out All in all we would love to come back again to enjoy the hospitality ) we had a good time Claes Ewards AucklandNew Zealand"
Anna stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2007-12-24 and said, "This was a great hotel on the end of Chaweng Beach so it was less crowded and cleaner than the central part. The reception area is a bit depressing, however the layout of the gardens, rooms and pool is really nice. Rooms are basic and service is good. You need to take a taxi/tuktuk/motorbike to get to clubs/restaurants to go out in the evening."
George stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2007-12-14 and said, "Probably the worst room I have stayed in in Thailand. Although it was clean it was very basic. Not even a telephone or more importantly the in-room safe indicated on the website. On the positive side it did have a very nice pool. Breakfast below average for the price paid. There are far better rooms available in Chaweng for 2500 baht."
Laura stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2007-10-12 and said, "I was very happy with the resort. The breakfast food was the rooms were clean. The beach out front was beautiful."
Charlotte stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2007-08-18 and said, "Very nice place. Good service, wonderful beach and a great beach. Very good value for the price on Chaweng beach. Good for families with children.Would recommend anytime."
Catherine stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2007-07-17 and said, "Rooms clean and the resort fronted the beach but that s about it from a positive persepctive. The rooms were much like you d expect at a caravan park - resort is an overstatement and photos on the website very creative indeed. I specifically requested an additional bed but on check in was told there would be an additional 800 baht per night charge. Then when I said I would pay, I was told there were none available. Probably the most frustrating check in of our lives. When we asked to leave the next day we were told we had to pay 2500 baht to do so despite them understanding our position. Only when we threatened to call the tourist police did we get anything near a compromise on our exit fee (we still had to pay - unfortunately they had a swipe of our credit card otherwise we would have just walked out). I would never go here again and strongly recommend against it. There are several other much better resorts along the same road at 30% or more reduction in price with pleasant staff. And with no charge for an additional bed."
Sam stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2007-07-10 and said, "First trip to Koh Samui wern t sure what to expect. All the staff at Baan Talay were very friendly and helpful. Stayed in Pool View Room. Clean and tidy, no complaints. Food at restaurant was good, breakfast especially. Glad we stayed at south end of Chewang Beach. Would stay there again and recommend."
Henning stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2007-04-28 and said, "No problems whatsoever. Pleasantly surprised by the hotel s standard."
Irene stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2007-04-22 and said, "We have wonderful time staying in this resort. The beachfront villa is simply amazing. Although the room is a bit old but is very clean and neat. Our villa is just less than 10 meter from the sea and we have beautiful sunrise view every morning. Good location and very peaceful environment. After enjoying busy Chaweng, this is the best place for you to rest your feet. Only one suggestion to this resort, please provide more choices in breakfast buffet. People like us staying in your resort for 6 days 5 nights and having almost the same kind of breakfast is a real pain :-) Overall, it s a very nice resort with friendly and helpful staffs! The travel agent located just next to the resort - holiday tour (a very cozy shop) is your right choice for sight seeing and some day trip to island nearby. The man is very helpful and honest. We have rented a motorbike from him and visited to Koh NangYuan and Ang Thong through him. Thumb up for Baan Talay Resort and this travel agent! Fantastic!"
Glogg stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2007-02-05 and said, "Location is perfect if u don t want to be in the loud chaweng. Staff is really friendly and responsive. My room was clean and insects proof. The pool is nice and can be quiet if no kids jumping around. The beach is fantastic with its restaurant above. In all in highly recommand this hotel and definetly will stay here again."
Gavin stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2007-01-05 and said, "It was quite agreeable. I had stayed here previously and found the management seems to have changed. Reception was very responsive. Every request was dealt with quite swiftly and I was disappointed that the seafood dinners seem to have disappeared. I also feel that some refurbishment is needed after all this time. Overall though - very nice and good value for the price."
Dean stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2006-09-07 and said, "Our first impressions upon arriving at Baan Talay was a nice, laidback place but very simple resort in need of some TLC. The trusses are rusty and the restuarant area & rooms could use a facelift. The pool & gardens are fabulous though! We stayed in the beach front deluxe room which has the best view, the room itself was basic, yet comfortable and we loved having our own sun lounge on the deck overlooking the beach. This part of Chaweng beach is the best on the island. Its very clean and safe swimming for kids. The resort is also very close to all restuarants and shops. We found the staff to be very friendly and hospitable. Our only criticism would be the hotels breakfast process. My husband was sick for 5 days after contracting Thai belly from an omelette he d eaten at breakfast. This definitely put a dampner on our holiday. Leaving food out in the tropics for 4 hours is very concerning for us as we live in a similiar climate in OZ, foods such as ham for example can not be left out for long periods as the bacteria grows quickly and causes illness. The hotel should review this practice of leaving food out, perhaps a small bar fridge would suffice for this purpose. We thought the hotel should also think about hosting theme nights to encourage some atmosphere like other resorts on the beach. We would stay here again as it was very peaceful, however there are a few resorts close by for the same price and they were more classy."
Toni stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2006-07-24 and said, "We stayed here for 9 days. This is a nice hotel at a very nice beach. The rooms were nice and clean, the staff was friendly. The girls at the reception sometimes seemed to be be unfriendly but I think the workpressure was a bit to high for them and they were in fact very friendly. Very nice swimmingpool. This hotel is a perfect place if you want to to have a peacefull beachholiday and don t want to walk too far for shops, restaurants etc. Only one minor, the beds and pillows are very hard."
Mikael stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2006-07-11 and said, "A real paradise. Nice rooms located in a beatiful garden. Great pool area and a good restaurant. The resort is in the south end of the Chaweng beach. Not so crowded and also less noicy from the traffic. Very good service from a friendly and service-minded staff. We highly recommed this resort and are looking forward to go here again in the near future."
Johan stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2006-02-24 and said, "What can you say. The Hotel with it s surroundings is really nice. Very much Thailand-atmosphere and also the pool-area is great and above all, the pool is quite big.We got a very good room for our needs... BUT the room wasn t exactly like the pics on the Website, the bathroom You get the feeling that they take more care of the garden or the pool than the inside of the rooms. We had some problems with the Aircon (quite loud and old) the first days. But it was taken care of by a superb engineer. The staff, superb, really nice and helpful. All my best also to the restaurant staff. Maked the stay even better.Since the room felt a bit torned down we flet the room was a bit over-priced. Might go back, but prob. try another Resort before..."
Family stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2006-02-18 and said, "The Hotel had a beautiful, cosy and very well-kept garden. The bungalows where okay - but needed storage for clothes (since the cabins had a terrible smell - tear down the cabins and build some shelves instead!)The cleaners and the facility/garden staff were great and helpful (especially the Bang Bang man -the kids loved him) but the staff in the reception gave an unfriendly impression. We also accidentally broke a glass from the room - immediately we got bill of 30 bath. It seems a bit foolish compare to 8 people staying 9 days using the minibar = putting a lot of money at Baan Talay resort. The hotel was very child-friendly and the kids loved the pool. On reflection we had a nice stay ?but with a lot of atomic ache!"
Patrik stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2006-02-10 and said, "A budget hotel with a beautiful garden with ponds and fountains. The bungalows had problems with mould (and ants) and several guests complained about this and changed rooms or even hotel. Most of the guests that stayed during our 2 weeks got sick and it was always someone missing at breakfast. The common thing to discuss around the pool was what made everyone sick. Some guest had to go to the hospital to get antibiotics or even intravenous fluid. We never found the cause to why everyone got ill. The restaurant had a mediocre menu and the prices were almost double from the more exclusive restaurants nearby. The cleaners and the ground staff were great and helpful but the staff in the reception gave a unfriendly and stingy impression. The first thing they told everyone when checking in was that you have to pay everything that gets broken and that they will inspect everything on checkout. One guest that accidentally broke a small juice-glass at breakfast immediately got a bill ending up paying 20 bath. The hotel suited our needs and we had a great time at Samui but I would not recommend this hotel or go back."
Christine stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2006-02-04 and said, "Nice small resort, very friendly staff. Stayed in the seaside bungalow which was really nice, beautiful view. Plenty of room, but not a lot of storage for clothes, could use an extra piece of furniture there. Nice location, southern end of the beach, a little more quiet but easy walking distance to all attractions, we would come here again"
Carl stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2006-01-10 and said, "Wery nice quiet hotel with friendly staff, perfect location for family with children, near pool and beach and no discosound."
Rob stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2005-12-29 and said, "Perfect!! We had a beach bungalow which was very nice! Outside was our own deck with loungers looking on to a lovely beach. Food was good, the bar is great with very friendly staff! Would definately stay again!!! Thankyou."
Nicolas stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2005-12-07 and said, "We prepaid for 8 nights but the condition of the hotel was so bad( not really clean, wet room),that we decided to leave after two days. They do not refund any money although we tried to make an agreement. The staff was very unfriendly, no value for your money. Cannot recomand Baan Talay."
Berthelot stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2005-12-03 and said, "hotel de tres bonne qualite et tres bon service proche de toutes commodites je ne peux que le recommander a tout le monde j ai eu l occasion d y sejourne a trois reprise toutjours un tres bon acceuil"
margaret stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2005-11-07 and said, "this would be by far the worst hotel I have stayed in in asia, concrete floors, rusted airconditioners, not a single drawer in room, kettle didnt work, staff unhelpful, considering the 4000bht charge, it was a disgrace."
Pete stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2005-10-20 and said, "Very friendly & helpful staff. Nice big room and bathroom. Ours was a Garden View room which turned out to be close to the road. We kept the air con on all night to drown out the street noise. This end of the beach is not as nice as north but the bonus was that there were less people trying to sell you things on the beach.Happy to recommend this hotel to others, but we will go to the Northern end of beach next time. Dont forget your bug spray the mosquitos are vicious..."
Tine stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2005-10-10 and said, "We stayed here for 3 weeks with our two children, age 0 and 3, and we absolutely loved it. The staff is very helpfull and freindly, the resort has a wonderfull family atmosphere and is located at a distance from noisy discos. The restuarent serves excellent food, and the resort is always clean and tidy. We had a beach front bungalow, which is absolutely recommendable. As for the weather, we were there in the rainy season (october 2005). Out of 21 days we had 3 days of rain and storm, otherwise it would rain in the morning or afternoon. It was cloudy but warm most of the time, which was perfect, as bright sun can be a problem with such small children. We would definitely come back!"
Annika stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2005-09-28 and said, "We have enjoy our visit at Baan Talay. I can recommend the hotel to them whom travel with children. All employees at the hotel where very friendly. If we return to Koh Samui we will come back to Baan Talay."
vlatko stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2005-09-20 and said, "Very nice small resort on the quiet side of the Chaweng beach. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Bungalow was not luxurious but nice and clean. We stayed 8 days and everything was just perfect. Great place for family holiday."
Jenny stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2005-09-05 and said, "We enjoyed our stay very much. Great, quiet, location with a superb clean pool. Staff very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay there again."
Richard stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2005-08-13 and said, "Location on the beach is good & excellent for swimming. Situated near the end of the facilities on the main road but easy taxi access to the central area. Rooms are ok but not special. Disappointed that there is so much development."
John stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2005-08-11 and said, "Stayed there 17 nights and would consider returning. We had two kids - 4 & 22 month - and met many other families. On a great part of the beach - the best part as far as I m concerned - very quiet and not as tacky compared to the northern part of Chaweng but still close enough to the action. Breakfast was good. Go across the street to do laundry - this resort will charge you 3x the price."
Jane stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2005-08-05 and said, "Not good: The bathroom was in a poor state of repair. The room was dark and worn. The location was too far down the beach. We stayed one night and moved to the BEACHCOMBER! Well worth the minimal additional upgrade. However the staff at the Ban Talay were nice but no mod cons and all in all not good value for money. We just wanted a clean room with sun."
Andreas stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2005-07-18 and said, "Had a very relaxing stay at Baan Talay - small resort of double-bungalows within a romantic tropical garden with nice pool area. Very clean rooms. Simple but nice restaurant on the beachside. Breakfast was not very multifaceted. Water for shower and washing was yellow colored (conditioning?). Very friendly staff. Would recommed this resort especially for families and would come again for sure. Hope that Baan Talay will stay like it is yet and not become a tourist temple like many others at Chaweng Beach!!!"
Carolyn stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2005-06-27 and said, "A great location with excellent beach. A small friendly resort with clean a/c rooms and a good restaurant. Staff very helpful. Would recommend Baan Talay for families wishing to be close enough to the restaurants/bars but outside the very busy part of Cheweng Beach."
Jennifer stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2005-05-24 and said, "We had the beach view bungalow and everything was perfect. It was my 2nd time on Koh Samui and Baan Talay Resort ist located in the best area on the beach. very calm and clean. the pictures at sawadee.com tell the truth. we can recommend to everyone this resort. beautiful pool and very nice staff. bungalow very clean and perfect to stay. thank you very much. jennifer and sascha"
Jennifer stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2005-05-24 and said, "Hotel was very good. Perfectly described on the webpage. Great part of the beach. Little walk to the centre."
Mr stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2005-04-18 and said, "The hotel is located at a quieter end of a lovely beach. The approach to the hotel and the reception area were uninviting. Staff were generally very friendly with the exception of the reception, and the breakfast was good. We had a beach front delux bungalow that had just been refurbished, but there were still areas unfinished and the tap water was yellow. The bungalow is right on the beach and the view from the balcony was outstanding. Access on to the beach for the less agile was difficult, as steps were missing. After we had overcome difficulties with the room we enjoyed our stay and would return; however the nit picking by charging 25 baht for a sachet of coffee in the room was disappointing, as tea/coffee making facilities were supposed to be included."
Lisa stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2005-03-13 and said, "The hotel was excellant value for money. The staff were very friendly and our accomodation was very clean with our rooms being cleaned on a daily basis. I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to stay in Koh Samui. Also very good for families."
Jan stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2005-03-08 and said, "Baan Talay Resort is a fine resort in the south end of Chaweng. Our rooms were fine, the service very well and a restaurant with a charming staff. We were very satisfied for the two periods we stayed at Baan Talay and can really recomend it."
David stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2004-11-25 and said, "Very accomodating staff. Clean rooms and good food! Would recommend"
Elisabeth stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2004-09-29 and said, "Nice hotel - very friendly service - some parts of the place have to be renovated - but the people there make the stay very pleasant."
David stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2004-09-26 and said, "Hotel, especially staff were fantastic. The Restaurant was terrific and we had a great time."
Louise stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2004-08-21 and said, "We stayed in a number of places during our trip to thailand and found Baan Talay to be one we would not return to. The desk staff were the most unfriendly we encountered, the room was bland. The bed was two singles joined. One higher than the other, and was that hard that it was impossible to sleep. We cut short our stay by 3 days and moved to Malibu which was cheaper, great rooms, fantastic staff and a comfortable bed! I would not stay at Baan Talay again."
Laurent stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2004-08-17 and said, "Very nice hotel, the staff is friendly and helpful. The room are spacious and very clean and well equiped. The Baan Talay is located on the south of Chaweng Beach in a relatively quiet spot (perfect for us) The beach and the sea is great in front of the hotel!!!!!! The hotel have a very nice and clean pool and the breakfast are OK."
Gediminas stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2004-08-10 and said, "Location is convenient, the beach seems to be better than further north in Chaweng, hotel itself is very nice with neat rooms, staff are friendly and quick to solve any problems. On the other hand, water in the shower was never really hot (may be normal in the season, and actually was never a problem for us), and the hotel page on Sawadee.com promises bath-robes and sandals in the rooms, which actually it doesn t provide (I asked the reception and they hadn t heard of it).Overall, a good place to stay."
Pietro stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2004-06-25 and said, "The beach was beutiful. It was just right outside the hotel. But there were many mosquitles around and the tap water was yellow in colour. The people in the restaurant were very nice and the food is ok."
Ian stayed at Baan Talay Resort on 2004-02-17 and said, "This was a very good hotel in a good location offering good value for money. There were six of us (4 in their 20s and 2 in their 50s) and we all agreed that we could not fault this place in any way. The location was superb at the best end of the beach, the staff were very helpful, security was good, the atmosphere was good, the pool was fantastic, the landscaping was good, the rooms were good and the breakfast was good. We went to this hotel on a recommendation from a friend who had been there the previous year and were not dissappointed. Having looked at a number of other hotels/resorts in Chaweng & Koh Samui we would definately go back to Baan Talay again when visiting Koh Samui"
