Svetlana stayed at Aree Beach Resort on 2008-04-09 and said, "Wonderful place. Very peaceful, friendly and just nice. Walking distance from the city; right on the seashore. The staff was very helpful and the manager was personally making sure we enjoyed the stay. The only negative thing was the sea. Stones and coral reefs, impossible to get in without shoes, but we bought the shoes in the city (sold virtually everywhere 200bt or so) and enjoyed snorkling after that. Overall, i recommend this place to everybody."
Stefan stayed at Aree Beach Resort on 2008-02-23 and said, "Haben fuer drei Naechte das Aree Beach Resort gebucht.
Nicola stayed at Aree Beach Resort on 2008-02-17 and said, "What a great resort, clean, quiet, very friendly, free safety deposit, and right on the beach which was perfect. It was a birthday treat for my husband and the owner even arrange Flowers and Beer for our arrival.Perfect location with some really cheap Food stalls and only 10 mins from Lamai Central.Would definately stay there again and already recommending to friends, thanks to Helmut and staff for making our stay perfect."
Ronald stayed at Aree Beach Resort on 2008-01-19 and said, "THE GOOD:The owner is a cordial older gentleman who is very helpful. The staff there is the best thing about the place. They are some great and wonderful ladies. They kept my bungalow spotless and in top condition. My a/c acted up and the owner had it fixed immediately. I found the breakfast to be fine, counter to what someone said; after all, what do you expect for $3? For $3 it could not be beat. Delivered to your room by a beautiful smiling lady. Their fruit plate is very good too. There is a tidal pool inlet right there on the beach that makes for a very nice natural jaccuzi when the tide is going out.THE BAD:The owner demanded cash for the balance upon check-in. He said it is noted on the web-site. I can t find that, can you? My bungalow was NOT what I would consider a bungalow, but just a room on the beach. Maybe Thailand had different ideals about what a bungalow is. I consider it a stand-alone type hut myself. The beds had the straw-matte on concrete quality, even when two mattresses were stacked. To be fair, that is a common complaint with many Thai resorts. The beach is NOT quite AT ALL in the evenings. Some idiot resort down the way is always shooting off a LOUD cannon all through the night, for what reason, I don t know. On 3 occasions we had drunken young Thai men walking up and down the beach having a rolling party and shooting off LARGE fireworks and being asses. Coming from a war zone, the LAST thing I wanted to hear was abrupt BANGS and BOOMS all through the night. The resort has 3 large dogs that are docile towards people, but try to gang up on and start a dog-fight with about every dog that comes down the beach, even with the passing dogs on leashs with their owners trying to protect them. There are many very loud speaker trucks running down the road blaring advertisments too. Quite annoying. I also was not informed a swimming pool was available. Listen folks, nothing to do with Aree Resort specifically, but Koh Samui is NOT a quite island paradise if that is what you desire; it is closer to Bangkok on a beach. It is loud, very commercial, and the traffic is very heavy and extremely dangerous. If you want what most Westerners consider a quite island getaway, I would suggest nearby islands Koh Phangan or Koh Tao which I found on a day trip to be very pleasent, laid back, and quite. But, I am sure there are quiter spots on Samui, especially on the SW coast. I dove all around the whole island. One exquisite spot I found to sit and eat and watch the sun go down is the Laem Set Inn open-air restaurant on the SW coast. Great spot and great food. Not a place for loud-mouth idiots. Folks there are very quite and respectful. How nice to find such a place so unlike so many other spots. I spent a couple of the most wonderful hours of my life there with a beautiful young creature who would not let me lift a fork. I LOVE Thai women. What a refreshing change over Lamai Beach this place was. I can also recommend Mango Village Resort. I had a friend staying there and THAT is one BEAUTIFUL and quite place with a very nice secluded beach. But, next time for me, it is Koa Tao island. Thank you Thailand, I love ya Baby! (even with the not-so-good tossed in)."
Joerg stayed at Aree Beach Resort on 2008-01-17 and said, "We stayed for 5 nights in a beachfront-AC-room. The room-size was o.k., the bathroom a little bit small. The room was cleaned every day, one pillow was pretty dirty under the sheet, but i have seen it the last day... Maybe they would have changed it if i would have asked before. The location was fine - close enough to Lamai-Center to reach the restaurants in some minutes, a 7-11 is not far away - but it is far enough from the noise of the bars at night. The beach and the water was during our stay a little bit dirty... For Lamai the Aree has a good value, but i am not sure if i will come back again..."
Ruarke stayed at Aree Beach Resort on 2007-12-21 and said, "Good value for money. However after booking out after 3week period to be informed that no credit card payments are accepted is poor form.Deposit etc paid by credit card. Website should advise that business is cash only. Very inconvienent."
Mark stayed at Aree Beach Resort on 2007-11-27 and said, "Very happy with my stay at Aree Resort! The beachfront studio more than met my expectations - nicely decorated and thoroughly cleaned every day. Good patio area in front of the room with table/chairs and sunlounger. Beach a bit skinny at this point but just wander a bit further up and problem solved. There was much more depth to the water than on previous visits so swimming better, although water quite murky. Will definitely stay at Aree again!"
Chris stayed at Aree Beach Resort on 2007-10-13 and said, "Small resort located at north end of Lamai beach. The garden view room they gave us was small, dark, and stank of cigarette smoke. The bed was very old and kind of dipped in the middle. The resort is also located a ways north of the town area, so not really convenient for dining or drinking either. There are better places to stay for just a few more baht. Didn t even stay for one night (even though I had paid in advance)."
Sandy stayed at Aree Beach Resort on 2007-07-20 and said, "We are actually still at Aree Beach! We booked 2 nights and we have now been here a week and don t ever want to leave! It s a really great place and we highly reccommend that if you are ever in Koh Samui stay at Aree Beach! It is perfect and we have no complaints!"
James stayed at Aree Beach Resort on 2007-05-23 and said, "Brilliant place to stay, very quiet, right on the beach great value. It is 5 minutes from Lamai centre & Tesco s cinema & food complex, you can hire a motor bike or get a taxi to any of these locations. Chaewang centre about 10-15 minutes away. Very friendly staff & always helped with everything I needed, they even helped me out of a tight situation. Will be back here for sure."
Fay stayed at Aree Beach Resort on 2007-03-02 and said, "Had booked 2 beachfront bungalows and they were both better than expected. Staff friendly and helpful no problems at all would happily recommend it."
Heidi stayed at Aree Beach Resort on 2007-02-14 and said, "Paradise on earth! Aree was exactley as we dreamed it would be. We booked more nights after comming there to see the beutiful location.Located at the beach. Friendly and helpful staf. Clean and nice rooms. After a little time also the big gecko at the roof was cosy. It was our first time to Thailand so the gecko s were a little bit frightening in the beginning. The only ting we have to compain about were the madras in the bed- quite hard and uncomfortable. We really hope they will change the madrasses cause we really would like to come back. I guess we will come back anyhow, cause prices are so low that we can only by our own madrass for the stay:-)"
Lars stayed at Aree Beach Resort on 2007-02-11 and said, "The hotel was perfect. We had a beachfront room and there was 10 m to the water. the people who worked there gave us an fantastic sevice and were always smiling. The beach, however was not the best: stones in the water and it was a little bit dirty."
Vibeke stayed at Aree Beach Resort on 2007-01-12 and said, "Thank you Aree and Helmuth, we really enjoyed our stay - nice staff, clean rooms, just lovely. Best regards from Denmark"
Steffen stayed at Aree Beach Resort on 2007-01-05 and said, "Everything was fine, the german hotel manager Helmut is very friendly and helpful. Beach 20 meters away, so I had a great time!"
lindzay stayed at Aree Beach Resort on 2006-12-28 and said, "one of the best places that we ve ever stayed at! service was great, besides that fact the breakfast is not included! will definately stay there again! we ve had beachfront before, but this wqas fanastic!"
Wolfgang stayed at Aree Beach Resort on 2006-12-10 and said, "Very nice and clean room with mini-fridge, serviced daily. Perfect shady oceanfront-terrace.Sea was not clear, bathcloths muddy after swimming. Good location, quiet and in good distance for everything."
Imbi stayed at Aree Beach Resort on 2006-12-08 and said, "We stayed in a beachfront bungalow. It was a clean bungalow with tv, hot water and bar fridge and right on the beach. The grounds were a bit messy and the restaurant & reception never seemed to be staffed. All in all i think you pay for the room facilities of tv, air con and fridge. If you can go without these then you could stay somewhere a lot cheaper. Aree was very nice and friendly. Her dog was very friendly too!"
Jin stayed at Aree Beach Resort on 2006-09-25 and said, "Nice Hotel in a very quite location, beautifull beachfront view. Far from heart of Lamai town. Good for people with car, otherwise the transportation cost is expensive."
Kah stayed at Aree Beach Resort on 2006-08-22 and said, "I ll rate AREE 2.5 to 3-stars. IT is a peaceful place to relax, read novels while enjoying snacks from passing hawkers. Staffs are nice, they understand simple English. Fresh towels and 2 bottles of water provided daily. Hot water is at the reception counter. Room is cleaned daily. No soap and shampoo provided, but 7-Eleven & Family Mart is just nearby. Roof for Room No.A3 is too low, it s not comfortable if u r taller than 1.7m. Sand is coarse and the beach is shallow even on high tide. It s okay for sun-tanning but not for swimming. No problem with the pickup service, the driver was already waiting for us when we arrived."
richard stayed at Aree Beach Resort on 2006-08-06 and said, "Absolutely fantastic - the best !! great bungalow, perfect location, wonderful staff. See you next year :-)"
richard stayed at Aree Beach Resort on 2006-08-06 and said, "Absolutely fantastic experience !!Perfectly located, spotless bungalow and exceptionally well managed. Friendly staff with room cleaned daily. Will definitely be back next year :-) Thanks Aree !!!!"
Reinhard stayed at Aree Beach Resort on 2006-01-19 and said, "The location really is beautiful. We booked beachfront, and it was so as we expected. Just very close to the sea. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was cleaned every day and fresh drinking water was in the fridge. The beach was not perfect for swimming. But it doesn t matter. We had a motorbike. And so it was no problem to go to another part of the beach. By foot it takes about 15 minutes to the center of Lamai. I recommend that accomondation to all who wants to have a beautiful and quiet and comfortable accomondation."
Chantal stayed at Aree Beach Resort on 2005-12-14 and said, "This is my second visit to these bungalows. Aree is a great place to stay. It s location, at the quieter part of Lamai beach is ideal (if you want peace). The staff are helpful and responsive to requests. The bungalows are comfortable and rooms are cleaned every day with fresh towels and drinking water provided (a nice extra touch). I happily recommend them and will no doubt stay there again when I visit Samui."
PHILIP stayed at Aree Beach Resort on 2005-11-19 and said, "First visit to koh samui. Aree bungalow, beachfront. Very good, close to Lamai centre. Very friendly host, Helmut. Recommended a visit."
Tomi stayed at Aree Beach Resort on 2005-03-18 and said, "We booked Bayfront villa for 4 nights but we were asked to stay at a different type of villa for the first night only. We didn t mind but we were not informed of the change in advance. We walked 10 min. or so to get to better beach as the beach in front of the villa wasn t so exciting. Staff were friendly. Over all, I think it was worth for the money."
Dan stayed at Aree Beach Resort on 2005-03-04 and said, "We were picked up from the airport without a hitch, he even waited around for 2 hours because we were delayed!!Our room was clean, tidy and comfortable, air/con worked great; quiet and effective. People were friendly, helpful and polite. Location was quiet and a 100 (about ?.20) BHT taxi ride from Lamai centre, 150 BHT ride from Chaweng centre. Our bungalow was right on the beach, going to sleep with the sound of the waves lapping at the shore was very theraputic. Didn t try the food, just a few eggs for breakfast. Couple of lovely dogs kept us company as well. Well worth the money. We paid more than double in Bangkok for a room that was awful. Say hello to Penn (thai woman cleaner/cook who was lovely)."
Birgit stayed at Aree Beach Resort on 2005-03-03 and said, "Wir hatten uns den Beachfront-Bungalow gemietet. We had a verry good stay there. The beachfront bunglow A3 was beautyfull (two rooms). They cleaned the bungalow every day, changed the sheeds and gave us fresh towels (You could take them to the beach). The girls who work there are verry friendly. We met real good people there who helped us out with money after a burgler came trough the window while we were sleeping in the middle of the night. If you will stay there I promis you will have a good stay there."
Helen stayed at Aree Beach Resort on 2005-03-01 and said, "The Bungalow itself is fine but seems the view is not so good: the water is a little bit dirty. The location is nice: about 15-30 minites walk to Lamai busy street.Accomadation is OK, but the bed is not enough as we expacted. And they charge 20BAT for the safey box, but you can use as long as you can.The owner of the bungalow is a nice German."
chantal stayed at Aree Beach Resort on 2004-12-28 and said, "I had a lovely stay at Aree. I had a beach front room. It was cleaned every day. The staff are very helpful. I also moved to a cheaper room after extending for a few days and they were happy to do that. I would recommend Aree if you want a reasonably priced, good choice of accommodation on Lamai."
