Morgan stayed at Als Resort on 2008-07-02 and said, "This hotel was the worst hotel i stayed at ever in thailand. I have stayed in about 20 hotels in various classes. The rooms are very dirty on the walls, full of flies and other insects. 2 times we found cockrouges. the floow was dirty, the shower was as basic as it can be and only cold water in the sink. The only goob about this hotel is the location and the breakfast. But since we saw couchrouges in the resturant i did not really liked to eat there again. It is an overpriced, bad maintained hotel. Look for something els if you want to enjoy your stay at Samui, this will only make you regret it."

Zaytoen stayed at Als Resort on 2008-06-21 and said, "We stayed at Al s Resort and it was exactly as described. Room spacious, efficient housekeeping services. Buffet breakfast with good selection of meals. The restaurant could do with some more fans or AC, on warm day it is a bit stuffy. Excellent location on beach, near to night market. I think that it was worth every cent we spent. If I should visit Koh Samui again, I will definitely chose Al s Resort."

No real issues with bathrooms/ toilets as I have experienced with other hotels on Samui. Overall a good place for the money, it is a little run down - but I would stay here again."

Staff are very friendly and can organise day trips at a discount. Great pool area and right on the beach. would recommend and would return here myself."

JANE stayed at Als Resort on 2008-05-22 and said, "I and my husband spent 10 days in Koh Samui. We stay in many Resorts. This one is the worst one which we had stay. We stayed in Villa Room - Room smell bad and Room Door lock had problem to close the door which is very easy to somebody get in to the room and there have no Safety Box in the room! We moved to other resort immediately next day. and the weird thing is we forgot our slippers in the room and we went back next day looking for our slippers. and the Front Desk Girl (treat us likes a witch) called to house keeping and she said we didn t left anything in the room! The service of this hotel is sooooo BAD! We never will go back again. be careful with the staff and house keeping they are not honest!"

Liat stayed at Als Resort on 2008-04-30 and said, "This was our third visit at Al s resort, and we will come again. the location is perfect, the place and the staff are very child friendly. What more can you ask for. The hotel is maintained well, although the pool side needs some more work. We stayed with two kids(one is 5, the other 5 monthes) and had a great time, We would like to thank again the place and it s staff for a great vacation."

Staff were friendly and tried hard but all seemed new (their badges said trainee ). Restaurant food very average, but plently of options in Chaweng road (1 minute walk away) and along the beach. Would recommend eating out most nights. Breakfast good."

We had a fantastic stay at Als,the service was awesome,the staff are fantastic and the value for money was outstanding. The location of Als is a bonus,it puts you right in the heart of Chaweng and contrary to all reports previously, we had no problem with noise or crowds whatsoever. The only little fault we could note was the beaches in front of the resort could do with a little more attention when it came to cleanliness. Overall a wonderful place to stay,,,we will be back,well done Als resort....thank you."

Kobi stayed at Als Resort on 2008-02-23 and said, "BAD BAD BAD!!!!We booked the hotel at sawadee after visiting kho samui in september 2006, we saw the hotel then and loved it.When we arived to the hotelnow, a year and a half later, we were so disappointed as the hotel looked like a dump! All public areas are neglected, every thing is dirty,the pool and beach chairs and parasols are all (!!!)broken, the outside walls of the rooms and restaurant are dirty and rusted, the deck and floor outside are horrible and look like slums, the restaurant is stifling and smells bad, as the outside it is too dirty and broken inside, we did not recive the value for our money and we paid alot of money for nothing.Do not go to this hotel!!!,learn from our bad experience !!!"

Right next to the beach great location, shop just a 2 minute walk away and five minute walk from the main town. Reception staff very helpful and always happy. Would definately return to Als Resort without a doubt would highly recommend it to anyone."

Nicola stayed at Als Resort on 2008-01-23 and said, "If you want a place that is close to the nightlife and beach, Al s resort is ideal but it is not as luxurious as it looks on the website. A couple of years ago maybe but now it is worn and in need of a refurb. i.e pool area beds are broken and decking is flaking.The bungalows are small and smelt a bit but were very clean and had all the basics you needed. Security staff were lovely but receptionists were not so welcoming."

Sherry stayed at Als Resort on 2008-01-10 and said, "Nice rooms, clean and well presented. There is a bit of noise thru the night because of fireworks on the beach though! Very difficult to communicate with the staff as no1 speaks English very well, incl the phone operator which made it slightly difficult at times. The reception is great, very helpful. Overall a great place and will def recommend it to others. Its close to all the good restaurants and shopping. There is a supermarket right in front so u dont have to go to far 4 anything!!"

eli stayed at Als Resort on 2008-01-06 and said, "The shower was luke warm in both rooms, bathroom was dirty. bed was terrible. television channels never worked sometime. found a mosqitou in the ice tray in the fridge. I complained but the receptionist just ignored me completely . nice pool"

Lo stayed at Als Resort on 2007-11-24 and said, "built in 2005? but appeared to deteriorate in some facilities. in general the room is spacious, located next to the beach and made the booking worhtwhile. Staffs are helpful and friendly. However, I request for airport transfer before I flied to Samui through e-mail. They provide quotation and asked for reconfirmation. Then I reconfirm and left the home country. However, no one present at the airport. When I complained to the reception, they claimed it is responsible by sawadee.com and they had no record. (BUT HOW COME THE REPLY IS FROM HOTEL E-MAIL??) Again, a staff from sawadee.com said they had no record for my request. Anyway, it shows that the e-mail system of the hotel is not reliable."

Gary stayed at Als Resort on 2007-11-15 and said, "Because of its location, Al’s Resort is ideally situated along Chaweng beach. You walk onto a beautiful beach from the eastern entrance and a well stocked, supermarket is at hand just outside the western entrance. The hotel staff were very polite, efficient, helpful and always with a lovely smile (it is true, Thailand is the land of smiles). The studio rooms are small, with limited wardrobe space, but are neat and clean with a TV and DVD player, great for the occasional night off to watch a film or two (latest DVDs 100bt). If you want to pamper yourself, the Villa accommodations are just the job for a lot more luxury.The views of the beach from the restaurant/bar complex are to die for, ask the catering manager to take you on its roof and see the its overhead platform’s potential (as its not open to the public at the moment). The meals we had there were nice but not great, the nicest food we had in Chaweng was at an Australian owned restaurant/bar called “The Islander�(about five minutes walk, N on the main road) and an Indian restaurant called Noori (about 15 minutes walk S). “The Three Monkeys�was a nice eating venue and “Will Wait� just around the corner from Al’s Resort, was great for grabbing a quick and tasty bite to eat.My wife and I have stayed at four different hotels in Chaweng, and as far as; value-for-money, location, friendliness and satisfaction are concerned, we would say that Al’s Resort was the right one for us. We do intend to return to Chaweng, and stay at Al’s Resort, after a few years of global exploring.If you do decide to book Al’s Resort, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed or with Sawadee’s service. I would also recommend booking your transit taxis through Sawadee, which were reasonably priced and most important of all, punctual.Regards,Gaty J RobinsSunderlandUK"

Angela stayed at Als Resort on 2007-11-04 and said, "Als Resort was a great place. The rooms were beautiful. One side you had the beach and on the other was the main strip, a very convienient location. The staff were very friendly. If you can afford it I would highly recomment the suites. Breakfast was great as well as room service. The only think lacking was a bar near the beach were you could sit and have a few drinks (not that it really mattered as all you have to do is walk down the beach a couple of meters). If you get a chance walk down to the restaurant call Eat Sense - absolutely beautiful (and cheap). Definately reccomend Als Resort. Would stay there again"

Marc stayed at Als Resort on 2007-10-29 and said, "This hotel and the entire of Samui island was a big dissapointment. If you plan on coming here to relax (forget it) your contantly hasseled by the locals trying sell you junk... better off spending your money some where else. We stayed in a deluxe garden view room which had a severe pungent smell and was full of mosquitoes. Don t beleive the photos of a clean hotel or of crystal clear waters it doesnt exist on this island!"

Kong stayed at Als Resort on 2007-10-11 and said, "It was a nice hotel. The service was good (despite all the bad reviews). The location is great, at central Chaweng with Tops Supermarket jus a step away from the resort. However, the room (garden deluxe) was a bit small as the photos doesn t really give a true picture of the place. Transportation is expensive in Samui so it s important to stay at a place with good location. Breakfast was just ok with little variety. Koh Samui is a nice place but I met some nasty people who discriminate Malaysian and chased us out of the shop with vulgar words and handsigns (all we did was just asking price in a polite way). It gave me phobia to visit Koh Samui again. Overall, a decent hotel with great location."

Celes stayed at Als Resort on 2007-10-01 and said, "The location and the receptionist are both very good. The breakfast is OK. The garden view, the swimming pool and public facility are good. But, the shower is not easy to hand."

Inbar stayed at Als Resort on 2007-09-28 and said, "The hotel was wonderful, looked exactly like on the internet and even better, the room was a good size and very pampering. The staff were friendly and helpful. It is good that the reception is open 24 hrs not like other places where they close at 19:00. It s located on a wonderful beach with comfortable beach chairs and we enjoyed every minute of it. Highly recommended."

Joanne stayed at Als Resort on 2007-09-17 and said, "Myself and my boyfriend really enjoyed our stay at Al s. When we arrived we had reserved a garden view room, but we found this room to be very basic, so we upgraded to a deluxe villa which was gorgeous although it was a lot more expensive. We felt that the resort could do with a face lift and the breakfast left a lot to be desired. The location was great but we wouldn t stay in Al s if we returned to Koh Samui."

Katherine stayed at Als Resort on 2007-09-17 and said, "This hotel was very dissapointing. The servcice and general attitude of the hotel staff was unsatisfactory, especially the rude nature of the women at the front desk. We did not have any hot water, and a problem with the sewrage lines in our room. Would not recommend staying at Al s Resort"

Asma stayed at Als Resort on 2007-09-04 and said, "We booked for one night only and based on the room we had we booked for the remainder of our stay (6 days). We were moved to another room which wasnt as new and the bathroom had a strange smell with some water damage. The staff at the reception was moody and the manager was never available. There was a huge breakfast buffet which was just bordering cold... lots of fresh fruit though. Tea and coffee was piss-warm. Muffins and bread were sometimes slightly stale. No blowdryer or electric kettle in the room. All in all it seems like this resort saves money on the smaller things. The location was fantastic and the resort ambience was superb. But the attitude of this lady called Pla at reception along with not having a hot cup of tea tainted our stay at Koh Samui. Do get a massage from the lady who sits just outside the reception to the left. I d stay here again for the location and price but would first make sure my room was a little newer and would demand a fresher breakfast. Rated three out of five."

Calvert stayed at Als Resort on 2007-08-23 and said, "Lovely rooms, friendly helpful staff. Breakfast ok, but could do with a bit of variation rather than the same thing everyday, but what was there was nice. Pool could do with some large plants as ther is no shade except for the umbrellas. Pool not suitable for young children or anybody with difficulty climbing in or out, as there is no shallow end and only ladder steps into it.I would recommend it though."

Anne stayed at Als Resort on 2007-08-18 and said, "This is a very nice hotel situated at a great spot on the beach (away from all the noise at night). Our room (studio room) was good value for money and nicely decorated in a contemporary thai-style. The pool area was great and the staff friendly and serviceminded. We didn t get round to having dinner in the restaurant, because there are so many other delicious places to eat in Chaweng (Red Snapper, Eat Sense, The Page, Green Olive), but the breakfast buffet was ok. All in all we definitely recommend Al s Resort."

The room was grest for 2 persons and the pool and breakfast was so good. Great locations and also great for children. CHEUNG stayed at Als Resort on 2007-08-02 and said, "A very nice resort! Room is comfortable and quite. The location is close to the beach. The beach is just beside the swimming pool. A lot of restaurants outside the resort. Many places for shopping. You can spend a week in there without boring."

Mei stayed at Als Resort on 2007-07-29 and said, "The hotel itself is very pleasant, including the rooms and the pool. The only misgiving I have is the quality of the food. You may be better off exploring other options while staying at Als."

The pool is good with plenty of sunchairs, also on the beach. We didn t eat at the hotel, other than for breakfast, but that s because we prefer to venture further out...."

We stayed in the Garden View rooms which were lovely, air conditioned and cleaned every day by house keeping. All of the staff in the bar, restaurant, spa and reception were very friendly and professional. We would definitely go back again, no complaints at all. Ailbhe & Sinead"

Cordell stayed at Als Resort on 2007-07-23 and said, "We booked this resort for a night, and ended up staying for four nights. The staff was incredibly friendly and the price was much lower than nearby resorts. Breakfast was ok, it could have been better as the juices weren t great, and the food got repetitive. The omelets were nice though. And the rooms were clean. The only problem being that I trusted maid s too well. LOCK your bags up when leaving your room. I had a wallet hidden beneath clothing in a bag and later came to find out money and a visa was stolen, which was then used to purchase items. Also, if leaving from Bangkok try booking a 24 seat bus. The one leaving from the hotel left us waiting for about 5 hours total at various locations and was a 32 seater. The bus was very uncomfortable. We came on a 24 seat bus and was superior in every aspect."

Mr. stayed at Als Resort on 2007-06-27 and said, "Stayed there on 27/06/07 to 29/06/07 and went to Kho Phangan for the FMP. After the FMP trip went back there again as this hotel has a great location. It right on the beach and beach in front of the resort is good for swimming. This hotel is also short walking distance to restaurants and middle of shopping and nightlife.Its location is also a short distance back from the main Chaweng road to afford peace from the bars on the main strip.It has a small & nice swimming pool. The staff there are friendly and helpful.Another good thing about this hotel is that there is a Tops supermarket at the resort entrance which opens till very late at nite. Breakfast was just sufficient. Room a bit small but OK for me.Would go back there again when visiting Koh Samui."

Louise stayed at Als Resort on 2007-06-20 and said, "Very good overall for just 1600BHAT! Convenient to both the beach and the town; travel agency, Boots, supermarket located just outside. Some staffs at the reception are nice, but we have no idea why the chef who scramble eggs in the restaurant during bkfast time looks so angry... haha!"

Michael stayed at Als Resort on 2007-06-05 and said, "We was in Koh Samui for 3 weeks and loved it. We booked 4 nights at Al s resort at Sawadee. We loved the resort so much that we stayed there for a total of 15 nights. We tried another hotel(First bech resort) for 4 nights but came back to Al s after that.Excellent central location, nice pool area, staff that was very serviceminded and rooms that where in great condition. Great value for money. The location is great with Tops market next door, 2 minutes walk too Chaweng market road, beach without the reef which is blocking swimming in sea for the hotels north of Al s. When (not if) we are going back, we surelyare staying at Al s resort."

Karen stayed at Als Resort on 2007-04-17 and said, "Our party of 2 stayed in adjacent garden rooms. We found the rooms basic, dark and very small. I wasn t at all keen on the shower/toilet arrangement, where the shower is in the same cubicle and jets nicely onto the toilet! The pool rooms are much nicer - bigger and plusher although more expensive. The big plus point with this place though is the location. Right on the beach with the hotel s own loungers and far back from the road to afford peace from the bars on the main strip. Great local supermarket and really nice pool. Had two huge cockroaches in one of the rooms on the first night, but the staff sprayed our rooms each evening for us and I feel this was something that you can expect from this part of the world. We did have a great stay and enjoyed being so close to all Chaweng Beach has to offer, loved the location and on balance we would return but to a pool villa."

karon stayed at Als Resort on 2007-04-04 and said, "Booked Al s resort for six nights ending up staying another 8 nights. Its well worth the expense if you are a family to book the deluxe villas right on the beach with the pool at your feet. Clean rooms, good staff great time had by all. We also stayed at Samui Orchard for 3 nights great accomodation a lot cheaper, aquarium and bird show excellent as well as the Star Bird Cafe for dinner up the road best thai food in samui. If you are looking for a good music, good hospitality visit Penny Lane Rock Cafe say hi to Roy & Noi or go to Legends Bar say hi to Andy both at Chawaeng. No worries beach bye."

We complained but to no avail... sadly our stay was not the ideal start to our holiday.. very disappointed indeed. Be very careful when booking here.. ther are very nice rooms overlooking the pool but be ready for the shock of the garden rooms"

I always had a deck chair, even mid day and I had the pool to my self every morning. Good breakfast buffet. The staff was helpful and efficient. If I am in Chaweng again I will stay here."
