Hua Hin is a popular weekend getaway for middle and upper class Thais. At only 2 hours by car (in normal traffic conditions), it makes an easy day trip. Farther north is the town of Cha am, a bit more economical.
Map of
Hua Hin
Cha am's beaches are better than Hua Hins, but neither is quite as nice as Pranburi, another 30 km south of Hua Hin. Hua Hin and surrounds can get extremely crowded on long weekends.
Examples of
Hua Hin and Cha am Resorts include:
Dolphin Bay Resort-Hua Hin
Ueli stayed at Dolphin Bay Resort on 08/13/2005 and said, "We stayed twice for several days: Lovely place for families with kids up to about 16 years old. Good rooms, restaurant, pool, beach. Pleasant surroundings, close to Hua Hin and National Park. Helpful and friendly staff. Good value for price."
Hilton Hua Hin Resort & Spa-Hua Hin
Patrick stayed at Hilton Hua Hin Resort & Spa on 04/22/2006 and said, "The Hilton Hua Hin is an elegant, exquiste hotel in the heart of the town. It has friendly, smiling, gracious staff. There is a huge lobby with floor to ceiling windows. My room was large with a small balcony and loads of character. First class room service. Lovely landscaped gardens with a beachfront pool and swim-up bar. Fantastic breakfast in nice surroundings. There is an excellent rooftop restaruant on the 17th floor, a very posh bar and loads of other amenities. I look forward to staying at this hotel again in the not too distant future."
The Cha Am Methavalai Hotel-Hua Hin
Linda stayed at The ChaAm Methavalai Hotel on 06/26/2006 and said, "Yes, I am very pleased with the hotel and enjoyed my stay very much. I am especially pleased that the rooms I asked for were given as requested! Service at the restaurants and reception were both courteous and friendly.
I am definitely planning to return again this Christmas with friends and look forward to yet another pleasant stay. I have already recommended the hotel for another family who are planning to visit first week of August.
Thank you again for a great stay and I look forward to my visit again this Christmas!
Linda"
Anantara Resort & Spa-Hua Hin
Nikola stayed at Anantara Resort & Spa on 11/14/2004 and said, "Paradise found! Secluded gardens, lovely restaruants, a spa to die for......The Anantara is a very well maintained, well thought out resort. We had a Superior room (beach facing) and it was only 20m from the sea. We had to have a twin bed rather than a double but seeing as it was twin doubles - not a problem.
The rooms are immaculate, clean and well decorated, the staff incredibly friendly.
One thing about the whole setup which was annoying was that everything is priced and then service charge and a local tax added afterwards which means final amounts are about 20% higher than you first think. It would be much better if all prices were including service and taxes.
The Spa itself is heaven - if a little pricey. A massage that might be 250 baht on the beach will set you back up to 3000 baht here....but at the end of the day - luxury is luxury! The 4 hour Body Symphony session is the most relaxing thing I have done in years!"
Praseban Resort-Hua Hin
Ron stayed at Praseban Resort on 03/01/2005 and said, "Super hotel. Gorgeous! Excellent food and service. Lovely quiet beach. Highly reccommended. We were surprised to learn how far it was from Hua Hin (30 - 40 minutes), but we considered this a plus; others may not."
