Hans said, "Paradise on earth... No man noise, just the sound of the waves and the jungle musicWe arrived midnight by speed boat, carried on to shore, us and our luggage! Lot of the lovely staff the jungle musicWe arrived midnight by speed boat, carried on to shore, us and our luggage! Felt like Royals all our stay! Wonderful! Food a little expensive, but well made, taste and design. Lot of the lovely staff the food was OK, not overpriced considering. The chalets are adorable and super clean, the pool was being built as I the sea was fine to swim in,I would definitely recommend and stay there again. I do wish they would lose the band that played the same songs on Fri and Sat night, I actually had to eat elsewhere as the dodgy singing got a bit too much! I would also hire quad bikes and not scooters as the roads aren t the best.."
John said, "We comfortable. Service was good, staff friendly, no complaints. Unfortunately, there was a severe problem with the water quality at the beach - it smelt so bad that the staff were wearing face covers and you could not swim in the polution. I hope it was an algae bloom and nothing more sinister. Would stay again if looking for a really quite holiday and a guarantee that the water on the beach was clean."
Jason said, "I love this place, even in the rainy season, which it definitely was.We got a fantastic rate because it s the off-season and the hotel s pool was closed for construction (who cares when you ve got the whole ocean to swim in?)The only downer was that there was noticeably more trash on beach after the tides. We saw none of this two years ago (though the sea was perfectly calm then).I really love the little island and I hate to see become polluted."
Andrew said, "The Hotel was OK but I decided to upgrade to the more up market resort just at the end of the beach Le Vimarn. This was expensive, but in my mind still value.I will go back, but have to say the dissappointment was not the hotels but the quality of the sea water.3 years ago it was crystal clear, now it is cloudy and going exactly the same way as I have seen the main lagoon in Koh Samui. When will Thailand learn that a sustainable future is in policing developments and maintaining the environment, not poluting pristine environments with get rich quick developments and then looking for the next place to destroy."
Pia said, "This is our second time here! And I m sure we ll come again! From the moment one arrives to the pier everything goes smoothly, well taken care of! The quality of the restaurant needs to improve, especially considering the prices! Don t hesitate on eating elsewhere!"
Bruce said, "Tropical paridise. Had a garden cottage with view of water. Very basic but extremely comfortable. Staff was very accomodating. There is a really nice restaurant one hotel down; food is excellent. My girlfriend and I enjoyed the rustic, romantic quality of the cottages. The beach is not large but there are not a lot of people so you feel there s plenty of room. Just watch the waves. Get a $10 massage for an hour. Time stands still. Be sure to visit the other side of the island and eat at Ploy on the beach."
Nilsson said, "A very nice hotel, with excellent service. I can recomend this resort."
Christian said, "This is the 3rd time we spend a weekend at Ao Prao. The beach is beautiful, and providing a fantastic playground for our children. Staff is friendly and food is excellent. This time we went home by speedboat instead of using the normal shuttle provided by the resort, which opened our eyes for the possibility to travel ourside the restricted hours of the resort shuttle."
Robert said, "The hotell was nice rigty beside the beach. I thik this hotell was quite overpriced. The food on the hotell was terrible. I ordered a beef, and the did not ask how it should be done. It was raw. My wife tasted other food and that was not good either. The beach rigth beside the hotell was very nice. You shold expected more from the rooms for that price"
Armindo said, "It was the worst resort I visit since the time I started to spent my holidays in Thailand. It was my fifth time in Thailand. From outside it look like a paradise, but my room 405, was poorly maintained, had signs of infiltration on the walls and ceiling. My first encounter in the room was with a cockroach when I try to use the lavatory.Behind the bed there was a small wall made of hood, and inside had rats and I clearly could ear their noises. We talked with the employee who cleans the room and it only smile. The air conditioning was noisy and cleaning was bad. The dust near the bed has been clean in 4 nights only on visible areas. The spider web near the mirror in the toilet has there since we check in until the day of the check out. The ants circulated throughout all room hand and even slug was found going up the walls of the toilet after take a walk true the bath towel. If you like rural tourism, it is worth going for it. The staff was nice and kind."
Arto said, "Very nice place. Not best room we got considering small child but place was very nice."
Maibritt said, "Very nice hotel, with good service and nice beach. We the privacy. The hotel is placed on a remote corner of the island, where there is only 3 other hotels. This makes the area very nice and quiet, and the beach private for the hotel guests. The morning buffet was exellent and the restaurent ok - the only negative thing is that the prices at the hotel are very high compered to the rest of Thailand. It is a very good idea to use the facilities of the hotel next door Lima Coco . The hotel it self is the samt price as Ao Proa but not as nice, but the food and drinks are much cheaper, and they arrange very good boat trips at nice prices."
Mats said, "Second visit to Ao Prao and the resort is still top class but a bit on the expensive side. Friendly staff, good food, nice bungalows. For more nightlife you have to go over to the other side of the island - and a taxi will cost 200 THB one way.The beach is partly occupied by day-tour tourists who do not stay at the hotel but are allowed to use chairs/towels."
Andrew said, "A delightful location and excellent accommodation in cabin set back from and above the beach, up among the trees. We loved sitting on the balcony looking through palms over the white beach and bright blue sea. The permanent music in the main restaurant was too loud, insistent and MOR for us, which was a shame because the setting was stunning - but we enjoyed the more refined, relaxing atmosphere in the equally pretty though dearer restaurant at the other end of the beach."
Pia said, "Me & my son spent 3 nights in Ao Prao and it was just what we needed! Nothing much to do in a lovely surrounding! The breakfast was lovely but the other meals were quite expensive and didn t always have the quality we expected!"
Peter said, "Superb, friendly staff, well positioned resort on very quiet white sandy beach. Prices very very fair, not typical resort high pricing. Restaurant meals also good. The lack of maddening crowds, the mix of local and foreign tourists added to an overall delightful experience. Would I revisit, definitely."
Charles said, "Hotel was great but restaurant service was very average (at all meals) with mediocre prices... Hotel next door (Lima Coco) had much better service!"
Mrs said, "Very nice hotel (bungalows) at Koh Samet. If you re looking for a quiet, romantic and peaceful place with nice clean beaches, this is a hotel for you. Rooms are clean, staff very nice and helpful, good food at the restaurant by the sea. They should just put the cushions on the restaurant chairs and mats on the beach chairs, and it would be perfect!"
Kaushik said, "Positives -Beachside bunglows are really beach side (10 m from water). Very quite place, you can hear the waves all day long.Beach is private. Very quite and clean.Beach side activities are excellent (sporting, massage etc).Food and drinks are one of the best. Service from waitress is excellent (they serve you on beach, room anywhere you want.)Service from the staff is best. Very promt to any request.Negatives -Waters are rocky. So not good for swimming. But you can rent a moped for 500 baht a day and venture out numerous other beaches on the island if you like swimming.A little difficult to get out of the island if you wish to because of the limited ferry service."
Barbara said, "This is a magical place to stay. The Ao Prao Resort on Koh Samet island is a place where we will definitely return. The rooms of the hotel are on the side of a hill surrounded by trees and plants. There s lots of climbing up stairs to the rooms to do so that might not suit everyone. Our room (de-luxe cottage) was very nice. The restaurant staff are very friendly and charming but their English is not very good. You need to be careful when ordering to check that they have fully understood what you want. The Spa was lovely. Although expensive, I would say it was worth it. Transfer from the ferry to a motorised raft into the beach at Ao Prao might be difficult for some travellers. We had a lot of luggage with us which was a pity, it would have been much easier had we just had a small bag each. Of course, there are young men to handle it for you but we just had too much with us."
Robert said, "Very nice hotel on the most quiet, relaxed beach on Samet. Restaurant has good breakfast and great location but quite expensive. Will definitely go back. Pity water sports are not free for residents. Staff very good."
Lynne said, "Ao Prao Resort offerd delightful accomodation on a hillside overlooking the bay. All was in keeping with the environment and low rise hidden by trees. The staff were friendly and helpful in an understated way and the food in the restaurant good. Swimming was very good as the beach has fine white sand and the sea is crystal clear. Boat, snorkelling trips etc offered but were cheaper on the otherside of the island."
Maidy said, "Though I have booked the deluxe cottage, not beach-front, I was arranged a close-to-beach one, very nice and convinent. The facilities are good; the only thing is that there is limited choice of restaurant inside the resort, only one in Ao Prao and one in Le Viman. One thing to remind other travller: be on time to catch the free shuttle boat from Rayong to Kan Samet; otherwise, you have to take those boat from public pier."
Simon said, "The food was excellent, the service was also very good. The highlight was the breakfasts. I think the resort would appeal to most westerners. I would recommend the resort to others."
Ashley said, "Lovely stretch of beach with beautifully clear waters. The room itself and service are impeccable. Location is not as accessible compared to Saikaew Beach but if you just want a peaceful quiet time, this is the place for you."
Martha said, "This resort was truly lovely and accomodating. As a woman travelling alone, although it was not what they seemed to be used to, the staff was welcoming and spirited in their ways of creating comfort for me. The restaurants were very good and the spa was amazing. I could live out my days in the cottage I had---the privacy, the birds, the simplicity of the design---it was wonderful. I would return in a second."
MW said, "Very nice resort. Prices are about 20% higher than a similar standard room in Bangkok but in Bkk you do not have the sea on your doorstep.Location was great & our beach front room had a wonderful view.Restaurant was above average & very romantic. The reception & the resort look very impressive at night. One thing to be aware of is charging items to your room. You may end up paying VAT twice. Next time I will carry more cash & pay upfront for services - it avoids any confusion regarding ++ taxes. The spa is very relaxing but advisable to book in advance. The resort staff are very helpful & very friendly. They have a few trainees but this did not affect the quality of my stay. Breakfast is average & needs some attention to minor details e.g. the toasting machine is very, very slow and inefficient, drinks dispenser not kept topped up quickly enough. On the whole this is a thoroughly enjoyable resort & I will be back again for another 2-3 days break in a few months."
Per said, "We like it very much. Very good food, clean and nice room, but we realased after we left the island that we got a smaller room than we booked and payed for. The beds were to hard to sleep on."
