T. stayed at Khaolak Orchid Beach Resort on 2007-03-03 and said, "My Wife & I have just returned from a 6 week trip to SE Asia. While there, we stayed in many resorts including the Khaolak Orchid Beach Resort. By far this Resort was the best. The Staff were incredibly friendly, and helpful, the breakfast buffet was fabulous, and our room first class. There was never a problem getting a lounger at the pool or in the garden area (not like most of the resorts we stayed in). The one minor draw back (not the resorts fault)is that all the other resorts that used to be to the north & south of the Orchid are now gone as a result of the 2004 Tsunami. Therefore if you wish to try dining at other locations you will half to take a shuttle into town (about 10 mins)which is provided by the hotel every hour. Would we stay at the Orchid again? We would not hesitate, and look forward to returning to this resort in the future."
Alan stayed at Khaolak Orchid Beach Resort on 2006-11-16 and said, "This very good hotel is let down by a couple of disappointing points. It is in a very good setting and the rooms are excellent. We had 2 family rooms as well as a deluxe double room for my, and my brothers family. The family room is very good value with two seperate bedrooms and a useful seating area, as well as a very roomy bathroom. The swimming pool is clean and seems to be well maintained, as are the grounds of the hotel. The bad points about this hotel are, firstly the lack of variation of the menu in the restaurant and it is not a very extensive menu. If you decide to eat outwith the hotel you come up against the second bad point. It is NOT located in Khao Lak as you would expect from it s name and if you use the hotel taxi service it costs 100 baht per person to get into Khao Lak. As our group consisted of 7 adults we eventually managed to knock the hotel down to 500 baht for the one way trip but this was still costing us 1000 baht every time we wanted to go into Khao Lak.Despite the good facilities and the beautiful setting we will not use this hotel again simply due to the added cost of transport if you want to leave the hotel. (It s a 3Km walk, on a road which is very dark at night, to the main road so walking is not really an alternative)."
