Somkiet Buri Resort & Spa

David said, "Our first visit to Thailand was wonderful and our stay at the Somkiet Buri resort was a highlight. If you want luxury mixed in with local flavour then this is the place to stay. Perfectly located, clean and friendly we can highly recommend it. So good we extended our stay twice!!!"

CHRISTOPHER said, "HOTEL WAS IN A GREAT LOCATION - JUST ABOUT 5 MINUTES WALKING TO THE BEACH. THE HOTEL ITSELF WAS NICE AND HAD A SECLUDED/PRIVATE ATMOSPHERE. WE HAD THE DELUXE THREE BEDROOM WAS GOOD. BATHROOM WAS VERY NICE. THE FOOD AND SERVICE WERE GOOD. ONLY DRAWBACK AT THIS TIME IS THE CONSTRUCTION NEXT DOOR, BUT ONCE THAT S GONE-NO PROBLEMS. I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND TO OTHERS."

CHRISTOPHER said, "The setting was lush and tropical in an elegant old Thai style. The pool was clean and in a nice secluded setting. Our upper level room was large and clean w/ a nice balcony. The decor of apple green was a little tacky, but the bathroom was beautiful. However, the bath was shared by a few ants. Both rooms needed more overhead lighting. Breakfast was good and the staff attentive for the most part.... I don t like it when they hover over you...and they didn t. Construction next door was loud, but only noticed it at breakfast. If your just looking for a massage to break up the day and keep trucking...the Spa was over priced....pleanty on the street to choose from. If lounging in luxury is your style....it s very good. Overall, we would refer others and stay again ourselves. Our stay was in the low priced rainy season, but had perfect weather! Shopping and dining were a few steps away and the beach about 5 mins....street vendors could be a bit pushy...with a smile :)"

Kaare said, "Hotel was extremly nice. It is close (5min walking) to the AoNang boat service and nicely hidden from the main street. A perfect base for island/beach safaries. The pool area and garden surrounding the hotel was very nice. We had poolside rooms which was very clean and comfortable. I would recommend this hotel to every one going to Ao Nang/ Krabi."

Peter said, "We travelled with an infant and got a room on the second floor (long staircase). No possibility to change. Perhaps they should have give us a room on ground level since the infant was mentioned in the booking when it was made. The room was large and nice, but the view from the bungalow ( very helpful staff!"

MÃ¥rten said, "It was a very nice hotel, felt like we were in the jungle, even though close to shopping, with big clean rooms (very large beds!) and a very nice, shady pool. Good service, and ok breakfast.In fact, we thought it was so nice that we booked the same hotel when coming back to Ao Nang in the end of our holiday."

We felt very secluded, like we sere staying in a tropical forest, but when we walked just a few hundred yards up their driveway, we were right there in town and just a five minute walk to the beach. The service was excellent and the staff was very nice and helpful. The rooms were beautiful and the complimentary breakfast was very good. I would definitely stay there again!"

vivienne said, "I absolutely loved the Somkiet Buri. It s was like escaping into a tropical jungle - a delightful experience. The restaurant food was excellent, the breakfast was simple - but perfectly ok. Ask for poolside rooms or first floor rooms (some ground floor rooms have v limited visibilty because of the vegetation). The triple rooms (even if you are just two) are well worth the little extra"

Maurizio said, "Nice resort in the forest, near from main road and 200mt from the beach.Big rooms and clean, very nice swimming pool, good breakfast. Only one little problem, the resort is in the forest, so, in the evening there are mosquitos in open areas (reception and restaurant) Il resort è molto carino, immerso nel verde ma vicino alla strada principale e a 200 mt circa dalla spiaggia. Le stanze sono grandi e pulite e c è una bella piscina. La colazione è buona, dicono che sia buono anche il ristorante, ma tenete presente che all aperto di sera ci sono le zanzare..."

Melissa said, "Room was very nice and spacious, lovely view over the pool. Good central location to bars and restaurants. Staff weren t as friendly as other hotels. The sun loungers around the pool were in the shade. The hotel setting was nice, very jungly...but this also meant that there were a lot of creepy crawlies in the room (including cockroaches! we found 4 of them). No alcohol in the minibar. Breakfast wasn t great."

Unfortunately there are heavy construction woks next to the hotel at the moment. Before booking ask if they finished or take one the last bungalows at the far end. Would come again !"

Vanessa said, "I booked the Deluxe room and I had to upgrade because all deluxe rooms are equipped with double beds and I needed two single beds. They charge about 400bath for additional bed in the deluxe room.The hotel is very nice and quiet but the room smelled a little moldy. The service (check-out, room service and any contact with the front desk) was a little slow but I believe it is just the “Thai-way�

Neil said, "Recommend this Resort to anyone. I found this via Sawadee two years ago and have have never been disappointed. The resort is surrounded by lush tropical vegetation,set away from the noise of the main road. Rooms private and secluded. Pool clean and the beach is only 300mtrs away, so you have both worlds. Breakfast is OK, nothing great, but again I didn t come for the breakfast. All the staff were very helpfull and polite. This resort is great for families, couples."

Garry said, "On our arrival we noticed that the pool was very green and people were swimming in it with fear of people getting ear infection i complained to management they decided to clean it up and it took 2 days so we only had 2 days of swimming and we were very disappointed as when we book a hotel with a pool thats what we expect not one that cant be swam in spoiled the holiday at ao nang as the room was lovely we had poolside bungalow"

Very nice spa, try body scrub and facial treatment.Wooden paths lead you through the rainforest, where there are many beautiful plants and ponds with fish.In the evening it´s wonderful to sit on your terrace in all privacy listening all strange (animal´s)sounds and watching bats flying around. Good price and location, too.Good choice if you aren´t looking for luxury or routine accomodation.We were 3 adults and two kids and we enjoyed our stay."

Good points, great locations, rooms clean and modern, great quiet atmosphere, staff very helpful and very friendly. Bad points, brakfast not great i.e kept out in warm for a long time, no sun around pool because overgrown.. but then again thats the whole point.If your looking for a good quality beautiful hotel then this is perfect.. thoroughly enjoyed staying here."

The restaurant is very speciel and make a lot of good food. It is not the most expensive resort so you should try it ;o)"

Kunz said, "My Family and myself liked the jungle suroundings and the short 5 min walk to the beach very much. Rooms, pool, away from the noise of main street all perferct. We d definitley stay there again. loved the resort. great jungle surroundings. pool was nice, water not so clear...got better after a couple of days. Cleaning was not good at all. could not have taken more than 10 minutes to make the beds and empty the trash..... Breakfast was basic but good. Used the hotel restaurant once and it was good and not expensive. Only neg besides the cleaning was that there was a REAL jungle feeling to it..with lots of different bugs both in and outside the room...the lizards dont bother me but roaches do..and some other living in my bathroom mirror...millions....nasty... but as I said it is a jungle so of course animals and insects live there and it is pretty."

Tom said, "A wonderful little quiet resort set back in from the street in glorious palm jungle gardens.Good room, could be in an island hut. You d never know it was just across the road from McDonalds. Location OK, only a 5 minute stroll to the beach, not far at all. Ao Nang a pretty spot."

Jayne said, "A lovely jungle haven within 5 mins from beach. Accomadation was fab and surroundings vewry lush, you can really chill out here. Only negative point was the breakfast/staff. Breakfasts were OK but nothing was hot or even warm!except the toast you made yourself. Staff didn t seem bothered about guests, they yawned the whole way through. That apart, it s a lovely quiet spot and you can relax in comfort."

John said, "Very nice hotel. A bit away from the main beach area, but set in lush grounds. The room (a triple)was very comfortable and clean. My only gripe was that there was not sufficient hot water for a bath - fine for showers. Breakfast was ok but did not vary much from day to day. I would certainly consider again if staying in Ao Nang."

C said, "Hotel is nice, location is good, just off the main tourist street, you can t hear the noise from the hotel. The choice of breakfast was poor for Thailand standards. The rooms are spacious but very dimly lit making it impossible to read at night, the balcony is comfortable in the day but a mosquito haven at night. The pool is clean and well maintained. It s a 10 minute walk to the beach and many places to eat in the surrounding area. Some of the wooden walkways are fairly uneven and very dark at night so it may not suit everyone as you can hear lots of natural wildlife due to its jungle setting. There is a 7/11 across the street. All-in-all I would rate this a good 3 star hotel."
