Martin stayed at Diamond Cave Resort & Spa on 2008-02-01 and said, "when I booked this hotel most others in railay were full and the reviews I had read of it were not very complimentry.first impressions of the room were good but it went downhill from there - the air con did not work and the bathroom had a most unpleasant smell, the breakfast was also poor. my advice if you want to stay on railay pick somewhere else or stay in ao nang."
Mr stayed at Diamond Cave Resort & Spa on 2008-01-07 and said, "Nice little bungalow most of the most the people are great if you great dropped off at railey west is a long walk. Breakfast there was loads of fly’s not nice."
Ryan stayed at Diamond Cave Resort & Spa on 2007-02-22 and said, "After trying to reserve other hotels on Railay with no luck of availability, we decided to stay at Diamond Cave and regretted our decision. The main area of the pool, hotel and reception area is okay but we were led to bungalow #106 and the room was terrible. I read reviews about bugs and we definitely had them on the toilet. I also had to take my towel to dry up the bathroom floor one morning as the shower gets the whole bathroom wet and as I was moving my towel on the floor, a cockroach over almost 2 inches long came running out. Luckily my wife doesn t freak out like most would! The room is very outdated with a hard bed and a disgusting old-school blanket as a bed spread. The whole room is outdated and not welcoming. This was a hotel where my wife and I dreaded going back to the room and did everything we could to stay away. In fairness, I did talk to someone who liked their bungalow so you should look at the rooms before you book. The service I received from the staff was good and they were helpfull and the pool was a needed touch as it was hot out! Overall I would not recommend this place to book online without looking at the rooms. Diamond Private Resort looked a lot better with nice views but you have to hike up a bunch of stairs. We were lucky enough to find an open room at Railay Bay Resort for our last 2 nights and loved every minute of it! I would recommend this resort in all of Railay since they have an awesome beach front pool and have great service."
Bryan stayed at Diamond Cave Resort & Spa on 2007-02-11 and said, "The hotel is very nice, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. Gave up waiting for breakfast and the rooms were not always cleaned. Several days towels were not changed and beds left undone."
Max stayed at Diamond Cave Resort & Spa on 2007-01-10 and said, "This is really the worst hotel where I ever stayed. Now the reasons:1)The room was moldy, smelly and dirty.2)The bedsheets also smelly and dirty3)In the bathroom the flagstones were outworn4)Hair in the drain from the former customer (it was disgusting)5)The drain does not work so you can stand in the water for a long time6)The same problem is with the basin. (the water does not run off)7)The bathroom has an opening to the outside so you have no possibility to close completely the bathroom door, mosquitoes can come under the slit.8)BUT NOW THE MAIN PROBLEMThere must be thousands of cockroaches behind the wood wall from the bed. The noise after closing the light was incredible. After a while I opend the light and I saw 5 cockroaches on the wall but not the small ones they had about 8-10 cm. We slept with light and after this night we left the diamond cave resort.9)I tried to make a complaint but the hotel employee do not want to hear anything. We paid for a superior bungalow 2500 baht and we got really a hole. The price what you pay and the achievement is an impertinence. This is a disadvantage if you book over sawadee.com because you pay in advance so you do not know what a hole you get from the hotel owner and you have no chance to get your money back. We lost 100 Euro for nothing."
Steve stayed at Diamond Cave Resort & Spa on 2007-01-05 and said, "We have just spent 2 weeks at Diamond Cave Resort & Spa - this is, without doubt, the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, in terms of service, cleanliness and overall value for money. Before you confirm a reservation here I d encourage you to consider my feedback:- We had a bungalow with a/c. The room was damp, with mould above the bed head, and it attracted lots of flies and mosquitoes. - The bathroom drains didn t work - the water did not drain after showers meaning that you had to sit sideways on the toilet or end up ankle-deep in water.- Every morning the bathroom floor was covered with animal droppings - they looked like rat droppings but my partner assured me they were from a gecko. Either way, the cleaners did not properly remove them.- The bathroom tap did not turn off properly and leaked onto the floor under the basin.- Cleaning of the room was irregular and they never left clean towels meaning you had to negotiate with management every time you wanted some.- The TV had only 2 channels - one in Thai and the other a HBO movie channel. When we asked about this we were told that the satellite was being fixed and that normally there are more English channels to choose from. After asking when the satellite would be fixed every day for 5 days one of the staff eventually admitted that there was only ever one English channel. To make matters worse the movie and voices were often so out of synch that the movie would be unwatchable.- We made the mistake of booking the room with breakfast included . The American breakfast they offer for 150 baht each, is nothing short of disgusting. Cordial, not fresh juice, and processed and inedible ham and sausage made this breakfast one of the worst I ve had. I recommend that you do not pay for breakfast here and try other places on the island.- The staff in the restaurant ranged from friendly to rude - unfortunately most were rude. Avoid the place if you want to be treated as a customer should.- The pool was small but clean. However the loungers had no cushions so unless you have plenty of your own padding then I recommend you head to the beach.- The overall surroundings, around both Diamond Cave and the rest of Railay beach are disappointing. Noisy generators are everywhere along with piles of rubbish and burning rubbish. - All of my complaints were ignored by staff and they refused to consider upgrading us or refunding us for the balance of the booking.- Unless you can afford to stay at Rayavadee or like climbing I recommend that you choose an alternative beach in Thailand (or elsewhere!) to stay."
Robert stayed at Diamond Cave Resort & Spa on 2007-01-02 and said, "i didnt realise that when at Krabi we still had to catch boat to the Diamond caves resort. That was proving to be very difficult as we had arrived in a car and had to find some secure parking. Of course their was a fee involved in that as well. It took us the best part of a day to get to resort from Krabi, which pissed me off bad. Then when arriving it was low tide and we had to carry luggage on backs and head in knee deep water and sharp rocks under foot for a good 80 meters. Not Happy!! Then when at the diamond caves resort i was expecting a superior room and was put in a basic. We found some of the staff at hotel were impolite and rude and i feel it was and effort for them to smile. I think staff there need to get of the island for a break or something as people in Krabi were good. The Island it self was nice and took some good pics but in a nutshell we wont be back there."
Christine stayed at Diamond Cave Resort & Spa on 2006-12-28 and said, "Some things we think they schould improve; - The staff can be nicer and happier and more service minded. We felt like they didn t want us there.- There wasn t any safetyboxes available the first 2 days, should be one in every cottage i think.- They never change dirty towels, you had to go and pick them up yourself at the reception if they had any that is. - Our first evening it started to rain a lot and there was a huge leak in the ceilling so my luggage got soaking wet.- So we asked for another room or be compensated for it. They just got angry and didn t understand the fuss. They patched the ceilling with stickytape! Good craftmenship! :)But I must say that they where good at washing our clothes, it was fast and cheap. The island and the atmospere at the bars was the best on Krabi. And they had a fantastic beach with barbecueboats and cold drinks."
Samantha stayed at Diamond Cave Resort & Spa on 2006-12-25 and said, "clean room and nice enviroment. more convinience if kettle are available in the rooms. Restaurant service are so bad especially to asian people. Their main responsible is to clear and clean table and not to serve customer until they have finish clear up the table."
Gordon stayed at Diamond Cave Resort & Spa on 2006-12-24 and said, "Great Pool, set just below the rock face. Superb Spa facility, the massage options are great and the staff there really friendly. The room was well fitted with air-con, TV (good for football) and Fridge. bathroom was a bit basic and there were some repairs required which we asked for but which never materialised. The service in the restaurant left a bit to be desired and the food was nothing special. Given the way the prices are going at Railay it was reasonable value at the price we booked at."
Adi stayed at Diamond Cave Resort & Spa on 2006-12-16 and said, "I would nt recommend my friends to stay there. The service is terrible, especially in breakfast. The rooms doesn t look like the photos in the internet. We felt we payed way too much for what we got."
Don stayed at Diamond Cave Resort & Spa on 2006-11-27 and said, "I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Although I had booked a bungalow, when I arrived, none was available and I received an upgrade to Room 404 which, I am certain was the best room in the hotel. View of the sea and the cliffs were stunning. One quibble. Although the food in the hotel restaurant on the beach was good, the service lacked considerably. This aspect of the resort needs work. Note that you cannot swim in the sea in front of this hotel. the water is unsuitable for swimming. This is not a problem, however. The pool is nice and the other beaches are within a short walk. I would stay here again."
Lital stayed at Diamond Cave Resort & Spa on 2006-11-21 and said, "BAD BAD HOTEL !!"
Henric stayed at Diamond Cave Resort & Spa on 2005-12-27 and said, "Just marvelous! Fantastic personal and great suites to a resable price. We will be back! Henric and Veronica / Swedeb"
Mark stayed at Diamond Cave Resort & Spa on 2005-12-25 and said, "We were nervous to stay at Diamond as we had read a really bad report and had no option as Railay was jammed, BUT we had a fantastic time. We upgraded rooms for a minimal amount and they were really clean, spacious and well serviced. Diamond was a very short interesting walk from the beaches, but it was not an effort and after eating the good food at the hotel and all over Railay a good way to try and work off some of the excess. The Day manager and the guy who organised our onward trips were especially helpful and pleasant. Diamond has beautiful grounds and pool and it was good to escape there after a day at the beach and chill looking up at the most awesome cliffs - very peaceful. Railay is beautiful and a very different experience to the Koh Phangan s, Samui s, etc. and worth visiting. Everyone has different experiences/opinions but once you realise that this is island time and drop the city expectations, Diamond and Railay should be on your itinerary."
Helen stayed at Diamond Cave Resort & Spa on 2005-12-18 and said, "At first when you arrive you encounter 100 steep steps up to the resort, we reserved a mountain view room which is absolulty awful. The room was bare, bugs inside and a wet room for a bathroom and the shower was supposed to have hot water but there was only freezing cold. We complained to the hotel staff and so they upgraded us free of charge to a sea view room and what a difference, its what you expect for the money a nice bathroom, dressing area, king size bed with the room decorated and a balcony over looking the pool and sea. The pool is small but nice. To get to the nice beach it is about 15 mins walk. The restaurants near by are great, diamond cave bar is especially good for food and does a great barbeque every night."
Melissa stayed at Diamond Cave Resort & Spa on 2005-10-24 and said, "The hotel was out of the way. There was no beach like the website described, no phone in our room, no towels, soap, shampoo or wash cloth. The water WAS nearby, but we had to walk about 20 minutes through rocks just to go to the beach or to get a taxi boat. The rooms were not cleaned each day, there were many bugs in the room (mosquito s, ants, roaches and other bugs), and we were only given 2 towels for 4 people and were refused additional ones when asked. Going to the reception desk was useless when you needed assistance. After 3 days, I was furious and decided to make other hotel arrangements. We could not pack our things fast enough. I paid for 12 days and only stayed for 3 nights and left on the 4th day and was told that I would not receive a refund for the remaining amount. The area surrounding Diamond Cave is nasty and it smells bad all day long. There was a lot of trash everywhere. This was NOT a resort & spa. I will not go back to Diamond Cave Resort & Spa."
Johanna stayed at Diamond Cave Resort & Spa on 2005-09-10 and said, "Beautiful place, friendly service, wonderful location. Diamond Cave Resort & Spa has everything you need and more! Railay East beach is an idyllic docking ground, particularly practical when the winds on Railay west are high. Beach is ideal for swimming at Railay West and Phra Nang. Everything is within walking distance, and the tuk-tuk pickup at hotel is very practical for early morning excursions. Perfect- we ll be back!"
