Teemu said, "Nice family run place. Situated on quiet south cape of Tao. Very peacefull place. few kilometers walk to village so it might be better hire a motorbike. Not place for disable people and people who wants luxury hotel. But people who wants sea view, peace and nature this can be the place."
Christopher said, "Having just arrived home from New Heaven I can strongly recommend this to anyone visiting the island. We originally booked to 4 of our 10 nights on the island and thought we’d look around and see if we wanted to stay somewhere else. No where came close and we booked the remaining 6 nights at New Heaven. For the price, location there isn’t any better. The restaurant has an amazing deck that’s great for dinner or a drink. The rooms were clean with a fantastic view of the bay. 10/10 amazing!!"
Lilia said, "We absolutely loved this place. Book room 8 if you have the money, the view is absolutely spectacular. The staff was amazingly friendly and helpful. It has the feel of a real local small resort, unlike some of the mega guesthouses and resorts on the island. And the architecture, views and staff were just A+. Only downside is a lack of many Thai options on the menu, but that just gave us a good excuse to explore other parts of the island. Right outside the bungalows is a moto rental place (vichit s) that offers great prices on motos and taxi rides.Happy travels!"
WANG said, "charming scene, regional house and kindly people."
Carol said, "Very beautiful location! The cabins in the first row facing the ocean are, in fact heaven on earth! They re on stilts set on the edge of the rocky coast in a very quiet bay (aka Ao Thian Og/Ok, Rocky Bay, Shark Bay). The other cabins, staggered up the hill to the restaurant/office/road, also have ocean views, just with trees in between (lots of butterflies and some mosquitos but rooms have good nets). Yes the stairs to/from the cabins and down to the little beach are very steep and uneven to the point of danger for the infirm/unfit! About the restaurant, the view is stunning but the food wasn t as good as I expected (I d read that it was great), particularly at lunch when the selection is quite limited. We went next door to OK II on our last day and regretted not having eaten there before -- the Thai selection is HUGE and good (and cheaper!).Now about the beach. Well, the one at New Heaven is tiny and not appropriate for swimming due to rocks, coral and shallow water but you can snorkel out from there (carefully at low tide!) and see a decent variety of fish, though the coral s not nearly as nice/healthy as other bays. (I didn t see any reef sharks here, despite the rumour of them being plentiful.)However, the beautiful Ao Thian Og beach, just around the curve of the bay, is just a 10-15 min. walk down the hill and it is gorgeous. However, the swimming is actually just a warm sit bath since the water is very, very shallow. Again, snorkeling s okay but nothing spectacular. All in all, I think I d stay there again maybe but go elsewhere when I wanted a good swim and great snorkeling (to Ao Leuk, just one bay up, maybe by boat taxi).Staff s hardworking but not very friendly (except the manager, a very sweet woman)."
Stefaan said, "This is a great place to stay and relax. Beautiful bungalows (i had one with a fan, but that s just fine) with a very original but good shower and bathroom - open view on the ocean. The view was perfect all around, from the bungalow as well as from the open restaurant. This place is so hidden in the trees, you can hardly see it from across the bay! You might be visited in the room by some wildlife, such as lizards, mice, squirl, gecko, spiders and of course all the mosquito s you can feed. There is no malaria here but dengue is always possible. You might want to use a repellent, i didn t cause i don t like all the fuss. You get used to mosquito bites after a while. The food here is very OK, although you might want to go to the pier sometimes for something different, because the menu is not so big. The only downside was that some of the staff was not too friendly or helpfull, maybe this was because i was there with my Thai girlfriend. The rest of the staff was however very kind and overly helpfull, which more than compensated for this little glitch in the service. I thank them for a nice and relaxing holiday."
Gregory said, "We restaurant staff were laid back and friendly adding to our enjoyment."
Maurice said, "The room was not clean and there was no water 90% of the time. The site is beautifull but missing maintenance."
Yoann said, "amazing sea view and kidness of employees. very clean and romantique sea view bungalow with a generous exotic garden. very tasty food. we loved their smoothie shakes and so much more. also very nice for the possibility to have a motorbike and taxi at the reception."
Johannes said, "Very very very beautiful place! The staff are very frinedly and the resort´s restaurant is overlooking an amazing bay. Breakfast + food excellent. The resort is located on a quiet hill, but as Ko Tao is a small place, it is not far away from anywhere. I really really recommend this resort for young couples, and I will definitely stay here if I ever travel to Ko Tao again."
SKALIN said, "We went to Kho Tao for the first time, the view from New Heaven is amazing!! Its on sunrise side near Shark Island. N.H.B lays on the rocks and they have a own beach(really small one) between the rocks. But go swimming there is no good idea if its windy, alot of waves!! And they havent clean there own beach for months!! ALOT OF GARBAGE!The restaurant deck was perfect, not modern but it worked. The food was ok but the meny was small. The bar and the drinks are really good (I use to be a bartender)The service is good but a little bit slow. (I think it is a family business)The standard of this bungalow resort is not top quality, we had bungalow nr.1 and it was NOT GOOD!! Bad cleaning, pore quality, no safebox so you have to put it at the restaurant in a box with all the other guests.. this is perfect for backpackers. If your locking for perfect morning view this is the place to stay! but if your want quality on the bungalows you have to take the one that cost the most at N.H.BIf you want to go to the nearest beach you have 3 options.. one is the sunrise beach on the same side as N.H.B, 10 minutes walk, alot of people and a little bar. Two you can go up the hill and down on the sunset beach, there you have a really nice beach (small and less people) with less wind and a super nice Reagge bar(just drinks)Three you can go to the sunset beach that is long and you have several of nice restaurants and bars.We had a good stay but had some problems with the room that gives N.H.B not so good reviews."
Christopher said, "IT´S A KEPT PROMISE - a true new heaven opens up for you the very moment you step onto the quite spacious wooden terrace with the probably most stunning view left on the island. Bungalow: clean, spacious, brilliant viewStaff: friendly and helpful, not flashy at allFood: very good, never doggyLocation: SUPERB but please keep it that quiet...!I´ve been to Koh Tao already before in 2006 and so much has changed on this small island. New roads, bungalows and bars everywhere - even houses and a shopping center have appeared. Too much concrete, too many motorbikes and cars as I think but that obviously seems to be the standard development route of a place like this. Well getting back to New Heaven - it´s a refugium for all those who prefer a view that´s not disturbed by any blinking, big hotel complexes or bars or anything like that. The sea view is calm, relaxing and absolutely beautiful. Thanks to the New Heaven owner that I´ve not met unfortunately (I quite like getting to know the people behind things) that he or she obviously sticks to a pretty sustainably policy in developing the resort. the bungalows are well made, quite spaciously spread over the hill and most important: they´re hidden underneath the trees and plants so you can´t see the resort from shark island beach on the one hand as well as enjoy the cool and shady atmosphere from the inside on the other hand. the price/service relation is absolutely okay for this resort which definately seems to be one of the very few left for those who don´t just look for diving, as much bar fun as possible and don´t give a sh*t for the accomodation. When you move around Chalok or Sairee you definately get the impression that quite many just seem to come to Koh Tao for this.NEW HEAVEN: strongly recommended."
Jasmin said, "We we liked it a lot. The best view in Koh Tao for sure. We even saw the ocean from our bed. The bungalow and the bathroom were simple, but nice. Only the cleaners could have done a better job concerning the bathroom, as there were spidernets everywhere. We always had a gecko in our room, which was fine, but unfortunately he was shitting on our bed once a day. The food in the restaurant was very good and they had a wide range of different food and fantastic fruit shakes! The atmosphere was very relaxed. They played Raggae music most of the time. The staff was friendly but sometimes a little bit slow. To Mae Had it took us appr. 20-30 min by foot. There are also taxis, but expensive. A very nice beach close by. The price was also o.k., compared to other places. The locatio was quiet, but in the evening we heard the music from the bar next door. But alltogether we can highly recommnend this place."
Per said, "Heavly overprised. One shower did not work. Bathrooms in open air. Location midle of nowhere. Staff not nice, and did not like mixed couple (european and thai). We booked for 4 nights, but we neat place to stay. Friendly stuff, very good food. Bungalow Nr. 6 has an amazing view, but no wardrobe, which is not very handy, if you stay longer. An romantic outdoor-bathroom with Thai-toilet and only cold shower, which was sometimes hard. The Bungalows are places close to nature, so there might be some animals. We hardly saw any cockroach, spiders or mosqito. But there were some rats, mice and even a snake (not poisonous). But above the bed in Bungalow 6 is an huge mosquito-net, which makes you feel safe..."
Peter said, "Great location, with good views and conveniently close to a quiet beach you could either walk to or swim to. I was in the Honeymoon Bungalow as no other rooms were left. It was a steep walk down/up to it but worth it for the privacy and position over the rocks. Staff friendly and chilled with great deck restaurant overlooking the bay, splashed in moonlight!"
Chris said, "Spent 1 week here and it was great. I relaxing. The upstairs deck restaurant served nice cold Singha s and very good food. Would recommend New Heaven if you want to stay in a quiet and chilled out place with great views over Shark Bay (Tiang Og)."
Peter said, "This was my second visit in six months having originally treated myself to the Honeymoon suite over the front of water and rocks with un-interupted views of the bay. The second visit was in one of the bungalows towards the top of the hill - which was a welcome change as it is a steep walk from bottom to top if you bungalow is at the seafront. The restaurant on the top deck is lovely, overlooking shark bay, with the moonlight helping to light your evening meal. Great food, friendly, happy staff make this a very relaxing stay in what is a superb eco-friendly location. Lovely chilled, uncrowded beach moments away."
KIRCHHOFFER said, "Very nice place with a beautiful vue. The food is very very good!"
Brama said, "The New Heaven Bungalow resort was really nice. We had a nice 2 room bungalow with two open-air bathrooms, very special. The staff is very frindly and helpful, food was delicious and the diving we did with New Heaven Dive shop was great."
Eimear said, "This resort is in a beautiful setting, with one of my favourite views in all of thailand (only a 5* hotel beats it in that respect). The food in the restaurant is REALLY good, and great value. They rent snorkling equipment to use on their beach which is a really nice activity. Only down side is that it has a few too many mozzies... and it could be a bit cheaper"
pichon said, "we quite the view from our bungalow was really beautifull, but the place is overpriced for what we get, above all they wanted to charge us 300bath for an extra bed in a room which was to small to get one, and it was only a yoga mattress they put on the ground!!!if you are 3 or more it s a better value to go next door at ok2(same view and bigger new bungalow for half price and real extra bed for our child)"
Shelley said, "After an arduous 11 hour overnight ferry from Surat Thani to Koh Tao we arrived at New Heaven pretty early (7am), to wake up the staff. They asked us to wait in the restaurant but after even an hour and a half they had not offered us a drink, yet took orders from other guests as they arrived. The slow service was a bit of a theme here, although the food when it arrived was lovely and the view from the restaurant is as good as the pictures. We rubbish, you arrive to find that the shore line is covered in empty bottles, cans, straws, fishing nets etc. It would appear that it is never cleaned but that can be said about the whole of Koh Tao, it is not the unspoilt island you may think it is. There is a lot of construction going on and the locals are not savvy to retaining the scenery. We had not counted on the trip from the mainland (Krabi) to take all night so we cancelled te first night of our booking, this was done over the phone about a day and a half before we arrived and we were pleased that they did not charge us for the night we cancelled."
Peter said, "Amazing Place,I the ocean so the view was amazing. I could climb down the rocks and jump in the water. The balcony had 180+ degree views of the bay and the beautiful water. The sun rose every morning on this side of the island. The restaurant deck was the best on the island. It had the best views and had the best food on the island. They have awesome music, and light little lanterns at night. Masman curry was delicious and could feed 2 people (100baht).Prices were cheap and food was the best on the island.Private beach - good for snorkelling as its amongst these massive boulders and you can actually just swim the the proper beach that is only a 2 minute walk down the hill.We had friends staying at other beaches and places and they came to our end of the island every day. The nicest beach is where the bungalows are and all other beaches are only a short ride away. This place and Koh Tao was the highlight of my 1 month trip in thailand. There were people comming from all over the island just to try and get a room here and even would come for brekafst and dinner cos it was so nice."
Morag said, "New Heaven is a family run outfit with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff are friendly and helpful and like a bit of Bob Marley. We long may it remain so. You can hear gibbons chattering in the forest near by, a firefly briefly illuminated our dinner and butterflies and birds fly through the canopies. On the whole - bliss, however if you are bothered by not having hot running water and friendly spiders in the toilet, then it might not be for you. For us, it was perfect and we hope to be back."
Tiina said, "New Heaven Bungalow was truly a great hotel! The location is perfect - not in the center but not too far away either. It is easy to rent a scooter for a day (3euros) or take a taxi to travel around the island. The restaurant in the hotel was good with a beautiful view. The Bungalow was amazing. We can recommend it to all! If you are afraid of taking a shower under the stars, then don´t bother. The staff was very nice and helpful."
Imbi said, "We found New Heaven to be a nice resort, though it represented bad value for money compared to other resorts on Ko Tao and neighbouring islands. We fan and the bathroom was outdoors with only cold water (not so nice in cooler time of year!). I was open to mosquitos while going to the toilet and the wall around the shower did not go up high enough to hide my naked body from fellow occupants of neighbouring cabins. Also, the curtains were see-through in the room which added to the lack of privacy (not very romantic ), the walk to the bungalow is steep and lots of steps to climb on the way back up to the street, the restaurant is expensive and the service slow. It was also above where the ocean hits the rocks and i had to sleep with ear plugs for the noise. I might expect the same for 500 THB a night, but for the same price in Koh Phangan we had a air conditioned room, beautiful breakfast, room made up every day with water, hot water in big closed bathroom in a stunning and immaculately kept resort.I think New Heaven is severly overpriced, though a lovely resort."
Ying said, "good service and nice view in New Heaven."
Tina said, "We I was always scared of using the toilet/shower in the dark after something took bites out of our soap we left outside and finding a big spider in the sink, but after 4 days I overcome these fears and felt like we d survived I m a celebrity get me out of there and just enjoyed the experience of having our own little paradise beach hut! The food in the restaurant was very very nice, probably some of the best I had in the whole of Thailand. The staff were very friendly. The place no longer offer pick up from the Lomprayah ferry or pay for your taxi, but I think it was only about 100BHT each way. The room was basic which we already knew and the electricity worked from about 5pm - 9am each day which we also knew before we went. It wasn t a problem. The room was however hot and we did find each evening droppings on the floor of our room, but no evidence of the creature that had shared our room with us each evening, which freaked me out a bit. But all in all a very nice place if you don t mind a bit of nature in your room/bathroom!"
Happy said, "The food was brilliant, and the view from the deck sensational. The location is not exactly beachfront, the small beach at the bottom is very neglected - much easier and more enjoyable to walk five minutes to the little beach down the road. Top advice - splash out on a more up market room, we didn t but wish we had!"
Pauline said, "New Heaven was conveniently located near the May Maad pier where we arrived. We spider. The staff was friendly, but the food at the restaurant was rather pricier than those in town. Nonetheless the restaurant offered a wonderful view of the sea and sun set. I find the room rate rather too steep though.."
NGUYEN said, "sorry my precedent (bad) review was a mistake ! It was for another hotel!New heaven was wonderful. do not miss this hotel. 24hours electricity .the restaurant was one of the most romantic at night (not a single mosquito nice sea breeze, seeing the waves almost under our feet under the stary night)staff was nice and breafast toothe room number 8 was very nice, clean, had tv, a/c 24h a dayjust above the beach all so nice."
Alexis said, "Bungalow number 6 was very romantic:overlooking the sea, with no vis-a-vis, large balcony It was nice taking our shower under the stars, in the open-air bathroom!Very quiet except from the waves breaking at the shore. Not much equipement (no AC, no chest or wardrobe) but very clean and cosy.Restaurant: Huge terrace overlooking a nice bay. Despite a very slow service, staff was cool and food was good. They have their own taxi service: 100 baths to go to the pier."
simon said, "very helpfull and freindly staff, bungalows clean and tidy beautifull views from the restaurant and good food. No beach really so 10 min walk to a beautifull bay one of my favorite places!"
masson said, "its a paradise. staff environment room food beach sea all is good"
Al said, "basic room, but clean. excellent views and location. food was good but service slow in restaurant."
jason said, "We were in room #6 which has absolutely beautiful views. We had to walk down 135 stairs to get to the room. Loved the room, but it is definitely basic and had no hot water. It was never explained to us that we had to ask the staff to clean our room or give us new towels. The staff was helpful and pleasant, but not overly friendly. The food at the restaurant for breakfast was very basic. Dinner was some of the best we had on the island. We paid 1500 baht per night, and we rode around on scooters to check out other places, we decided to stay at New Heaven for our entire stay on Koh Tao b/c we couldn t find a place that was as accessible with the same amazing view. Even some places that were more expensive didn t seem worth it. BE AWARE that if you arrive on Koh Samui after 12:00pm there were no more boats to Koh Tao until the next day. That was frustrating. Also, we used New Heaven dive shop and had a nice experience. Small, relaxed, nice staff. New Heaven hotel was quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of Sairee beach and was only a 5-10 minute cab ride from the pier. We would definitely go back. Also, on their website, they show their deck covered with sunbathers. We were turned off by this picture and almost booked elsewhere. However when we arrived, their decks were empty and only people dining were on it. :)"
Jessika said, "We enjoyed our stay at New Heaven alot. The view from the bungalows and the restaurant onto the beach is wonderful and the staff is very helpful and nice. On the other hand, although the bungalows are held in a nice Thai style, they are quite simple and expensive compared to other accomodations. Even the Deluxe rooms only have a fan and no air-con, the only difference is that you have two rooms (one double-bed in one room and one single bed in the other one), two bathrooms, and a TV - it s actually good for three people. For two people, I d recommend the standard bungalows as they are as good as the Deluxe ones. However, New Heaven Bungalows also offer a free pick-up service from the pier, but make sure to check with them in advance. As we didn t know that we took a taxi which drove us to the wrong New Heaven (there also exist New Heaven Nature Huts ). When we finally realized it, the manager of New Heaven Bungalows was so nice to send us her pick-up again and even refunded us the first taxi fare! All in all, I do recommend New Heaven Bungalows. The service is really great and the atmosphere is so relaxed and dream-like. Have a nice stayJessika"
Mr said, "Arriving Just after one of the biggest storms the island had ever seen we were shocked when everything was underwater, however the staff did everything possible to get the place up and running and within a couple of days it was a different world. Food fantastic, Don t just rely on the menu either any other fish we requested was bought and prepared that evening very reasonably. Bed and linen spotless cleaned every day. Beach very quiet just the guests that were staying at the resort, but thats what this side of the islands all about. Ideal for families or people wanting peace and quiet. Road to village can be a bit dark - buy a torch!"
Tracy said, "The room had a nice view but we felt that it was not worth it s value. If you plan to stay here no more than a day or 2 you would appreciate it, but anymore than that the novelty of a small room with a great view disappears quite quickly. Definitely consider Sensi Paradise, it s fantastic!"
Inderbitzi said, "The bungalows are very nice. The bathroom is outside and when you take a shower you overlook the hole bay. We had a huge balcony with a fantastig view over the thian og bay. This Beach is wonderful. Even if it s low tide the water is high enough to swim. Whereas at the next beach you can t swim at low tide. The food in the restaurant is delicious and the atmosphere is very nice. But the staff is not so eager to work and was not so helpful in booking a longtailboat. But altogether I would defenetly stay there again."
Alisa said, "the seaside bungalow view is AMAZING. you will not be disappointed. the restaurant view is equally gorgeous and i was happy to eat here everynight for my entire 3 day stay. the owner (she calls herself mama) organized activities for us, arranged a a free snorkeling trip through her dive shop, picked us up when we arrived, and drove us into town when we wanted to do shopping. she even called the next resort we were staying at to arrange a pickup for us! all in all, the help was wonderful. the bungalow was authentic, had a wonderful balcony, and large bathroom that had a window to the ocean. very satisfied, and will definitely stay at again in the future."
R. said, "The hotel and staff were excellent, the restaurant and the view were great. We had 4 days and three nights on Koh Tao and we were very happy to have spent them at the New Heaven Bungalow. I will reccomend it to friends."
Anna said, "Very nice, large and clean bungalow! The view was awesome from the restaurant, which served great food to the regular thai-prices. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is on top of a hill, meaning there´s a small hike down to the beautiful beach on Shark Bay (20 baht entrance-fee).The noise made by the crickets was rather disturbing."
miss said, "We it was as cute as in the pictures! The staff, including elder lady who rans the place were lovely and kind. The restaurant had excellent food though the portions could be bigger. and we will definitely come back!"
Daniel said, "It does nt get any better than this. Nice bungalows, a lovely wiev from the restaurant and a family atmosphere. We loved staying here, but be quick many people want to stay here..."
Jason said, "Amazing location, great food and lovely people. Only has cold water showers but with a beach on your front door and warm weather what more do you need."
Gary said, "This is the first time i have actually cakes etc)It should be said though that bungalow 7 is at the very bottom of a long long descent and i can imagine getting back to the top in march would maybe need the assistance of a saline drip and a large armchair !altogether a very enjoyable experience from very happy friendly people."
Bridgid said, "We found new heaven to be fantastic. The bungalows had amazing views of shark island and the restaurant was delicious. THey also have huts closer to the beach. We went diving with New Heaven for 2 days and were very impressed as a beginner and someone with open water certif. already. It s 10 min. deive away from the main drag, Sairee Beach, but taxis are close by and you can always rent a scooter. We d highly recommend."
