Sandrine said, "Positve: An amaizing location, real remote and not too easy to access (which was a bonus for us!). Great snorkeling and food. The huts are basic but have bathrooms, the view is incredible. Great value if looking for a budget and down to earth type of experience, we loved it!Negative: Mattress was shit and some of the staff a bit creepy."
Serge said, "Beautiful location. Very relaxed service & very basic accomodation. Don t forget to bring your own towels, sheets & mosquito net."
Gunnar said, "Nice staff, nice beach, but very dirty and expensive bungalows with AC. Better take the fcheaper fan rooms.Far away from everything. So if you like to stay on a calm beach, its nice. If you want shopping, bars and party, you shouldnt stay there."
Nicholas said, "Don t go here so I can enjoy it all for myself. This place was quiet, enjoyable, beautiful. Make sure you get to the top of the cliff that looks over the ocean soon after a rainstorm. You might catch the most beautiful rainbow when looking back towards land, picturesque."
Brent said, "Excellent resort. We went to two other secluded resorts both were bad but this was great! Each room has a spectacular view. We had A/C but did not need it with the ocean breezes at night. Great snorkelng right on the beach and a great staff. A must see on Koh Tao! Just wonderful."
tine said, "Very good experience. The huts were nice and you had a great view. The staff was very helpful and you can get a free lift of pingpong into town every day. The food was good and the snorkeling was the best around there. Also very quiet and not too many tourists."
Kathy said, "All of the bungalows have a stunning view of the ocean and the snorkeling was excellent! We (4 weeks), and these were the worst of the lot... While the bungalow looks clean and the bathroom rustic but clean aswell, be warned that there are rats in all the bungalows that visit at night and big roaches! The service was extremely slow in the restarurant although the food was good. The place is VERY remote ie. you cannot go anywere else for a meal, drink etc unless you take the resort taxi into town which is a mission (hectic road and they only give you 2hrs in the town). I think there are better places to stay!"
Elin said, " wished it could have been longer. Amazing place for snorkeling and great views from ALL the bungalows. Helpful and friendly staff - I would encourage anyone to try to play Connect 4 or try out for the fire show with with them . Good food. A little rustic and a few too many steps sometimes, but we truly enjoyed our stay. Just the road to the resort is well worth a night s stay. Thanks Pingpong for a wonderful time!"
Juergen said, "Great snokeling area, A school of more than 20 blacktip-sharks is located directly in the bay. The rooms are clean and cheap. No real comfort, but aircondition. Unfortunately no electricity during the day. The transport from/to the harbour is an adventurous ride on a pick-up. At Disney world you have to pay extra for such adventure. The restaurant has primitive tables and chairs, uncomfortable. The food is excellent and the staff really nice. The whole atmoshere is very familiar. Really it one of the lost paradises, just for total relxing."
Christine said, "really nice place, away from the crowds, excellent for snorkling, really good food and nice staff"
Petra said, "We ve extremely bumpy, especially when you are pregnant for 5 months as I was at that time. It was a beautiful place, christal clear water, great views, the food was great and the staff was very friendly. The owner of the place Mrs.Pingpong was a grumpy lady, not really insterested in her guests. Not friendly at all. Her husband was even worse.During the day it was peaceful and quiet, but at around 9 pm there was a fireshow at the beach and they put the music extremely loud. The fireshow lasted about half an hour, but they didn t put the music down. It was a terrible noise. We really expected it to be a special and quiet place, but during the evening and night it was hell! The rooms were ok, if you like rats.... The matras was like you lay on the ground."
Geoffrey said, "I went to this resort on the expectation of very good, straight off the beach snorkeling over coral reef. This is generally the case and it makes it one of the few places in the world where this can be accomplished on an economy basis. Be aware that in Dec the NE monsoon can really blow (the resort is protected from this by a headland) but with 2-4M swell the visability was about 4-5M ( which was better than on the other side of the island where nearly all accomadation is). The resort itself is basic, cheap and cheerful. Location is good with nice views, my wife is Thai and always makes a point of checking out the kitchen on arriving at any resort we visit, she thought it was dirty.I have a tendency to get calf cramps, I did a calf stretch by pushing against the balcony rail, it gave way and I almost went flying off the balcony (with the rail) onto the rocks below. But as I say hey, this is Thailand - keep on smiling!"
Tamara said, "Hello! The best place on the islands, if you are looking for the lost paradise. Clean, very friendly, very quiet, unspoiled nature, good food in the resort and superb view! I really met the reef sharks there, and fron the balcony of bungalo to the beach you need to walk only 3 mins. Downstairs. Can be recommended to every one who wants to escape from rush and noise of routine life."
Elizabeth said, "Beautiful tiny private beach with amazing snorkeling literally at your front door! Pingpong and her family are wonderful people, and the food was to die for. The road to Laem Thain is a little scary, especially in a rainstorm! Our taxi cost us 1000 Baht which apparently was a rip off. There was a bit of a misunderstanding and we didn t know we were being picked up. If you ever experience this, go to the 7-11 and call Pingpong! Someone is probably looking for you! If you like to be one with nature this is the place for you, the bathrooms are quite rustic, but my fiance didn t mind, I was the squeemish one... no crazy insects or anything, just the nightly ant army. Beware of the red ants, they bite. It s worth a hike over to the other side of the island if you decide to stay here, you ll see a completely different beach, lots of restaurants, shopping , massage, etc. Here you can also sign up for tours but they won t pick you up at Leam Thian because it s so far away and the road is really bad. Despite the small problems we experienced this was a great experience. Pingpong and her family/friends really made us feel at home. And you really, really can t beat the snorkelling or the food. It s also fun to feed the fish, they will swim right up to about a foot of water and eat bread! One last tip, don t take the beach side bungalow, it s tempting because you are litterally right on the beach, but the septic system relies on gravity so the tank is right below this bungalow... it was a little stinky! Once we moved uphill it was much better!!"
Robin said, "Superb situation, but the isolation can become a little much after a while. The staff are very friendly, if not a bit too laid back!"
Vina said, "The location is beautiful with huge dramatic boulders and ocean scenery. However the facilities are not well maintained - trash was scattered around and the water was polluted when we tried snorkelling. The bungalows are very rustic and the service was mediocre. We left after two nights and were disppointed at what could have been a really nice place if it was better taken care of."
Heidi said, "I arrived in Koh Tao one day prior to my estimated arrival. As this was my fifth trip to Thailand,I didn t worry about the pick up services; as all establishments usually are present at the pier. This day, however, Pingpong from Laem Thian, didn t have any bookings, so she wasn t there... I walked about 200 m., to a combined bookstore/ travel agency. (After several visits during this 4 week holiday on Koh Tao,I consider this shop to be a very helpful and friendly place). They telephoned Laem Thian Resort. Within 40 min. I was picked up. Although the owner of Laem Thian, Pingpong, looked highly confused(I have told the woman making the phone call, that I had a reservation, (But I did not mention that it was valid from the next day...)) When I met Pingpong, she looked very happy to see me, and it was all ok that I had arrived one day too early. The drive to Laem Thian was one of the most hazardous, steep and fearfull, though slow, rides I have ever experienced. Quite a fun and Thai experience to stop along the local establishments for bottled water, ice cubes, vegetables and beer. On arrival I was amazed by the scenery. Laem Thian was a small peninsula, the hotel block and huts situating mainly on the right side, which is the beach side. This side has a sandy shore, but is not a beach suitable for children that cannot cope with rough waters. Once a coral shore, now damaged by boat anchors, but still it is picturesque and still having friendly sharks. To get to the left side waters of the peninsula you have to do some crawling and easy climbing, about 4-8 min., wear fins or bathing shoes to protect your feet when getting into the water from the rough worth it; The thousands of small fish, the corals, the clear waters and tranquility (when the dive boats were abscent)are definetly worth the struggle. Staying at Laem Thian was as having read on the internet; the accomodation was ok, as well as the surrondings beeing in need of a serious tidying up, the scenery beautiful. On arrival I could choose from 3 sea wiew huts, I picked the highest hut lucky . and serenety of Laem Thian, as well as the hospitality of all the staff, makes this a place to miss. I will return to Laem Thian, and I hope the owners plans to expand/rebuild the resort will never take place."
Linda said, "The location, food and service were wonderful. However Laem Thian needs a good tidy up as there is building material and other junk lying all over the place. Accommodation particularly the bathrooms need to be cleaned thoroughly."
Almasi said, "We booked accomodation for two nights, but we escaped after the first night!!!- we didn t get the room we booked,- the room we got instead had direct sunshine all afternoon long - it was like a glasshouse,- there is no electricity from 6 am to 6 pm !!!!!- no hot water !!!!!- we ordered two simple sandwiches for dinner. It took 50 minutes to get them!!!!- the resort is located at a hideaway spot, in a small bay. The hotel is good for people who want the be away from everything. There is only one neckbraking road to the hotel, far from town, so even though the accomodation is cheap, if want to move between hotel and town you pay a lot for taxi.ALL IN ALL: I DON T RECCOMMEND IT!"
LE said, "Trés sympa, bon accueil, cadre idylique mais manque d entretien.Rapport prix qualité satisfaisantSituation un peu isolé, idéal pour la tranquilité, mais loin de tout !!A découvrir quand même..."
Richard said, "Laem Thian is a truly beautiful place. The ideal spot for a complete getaway from it all. The staff in the Restaurant are brilliant. Ping Pong and Ang are very nice people and work very hard to make everyone feel welcome. Food was great. The only thing I would recommend is that when you book your reservation you emphasise that you require a bungalow, otherwise you have to stay in one of the 1st floor rooms which although it has a marvellous sea view is somewhat disappointing compared to the bungalows perched on the side of the hill. We will definitely go back there again to a bungalow next time we visit Koh Tao"
Matt said, "The resort is extremely hard to get too with some of the roughest roads ive been on, even a 4 wheel 200cc motorbike was too much effort on the roads.the rooms are basic and things tend to not work, air-con worked when it wanted too and for 24hrs we had no water.theres a family of about 20 - 30 reef sharks about 5 mins swim from the bay/cove , some get upto 1.5 meters so its differently worth seeing.for 1000br , i dont think its worth it"
Gavin said, "This is a great resort if you really want some peace and quiet, we spent most of our days snorkeling / playing cards / eating. The snorkeling off the small beach which is right outside the lounging / eating area is fantastic. Apparently if the tide is right you can see shark(harmless small ones) but we never went out far enough, there was plenty so see just a few yards in. The staff are excellent and really friendly, it was the owners birthday whilst we were staying and they invited us to celebrate it with them, they fed us and got us drunk free of charge on thai whisky and rum. Would definitaly stay here again but be warned is isolated and their is no electricity during the daylight hours."
Duane said, "Quaint bungalows, beautiful views and delicious food.Well away from the hustle and bustle. Great place to escape with someone special."
Leif said, "laem thian must be the best place for relaxing in the hole world!!!!"
