Christian stayed at Morning Star Resort on 2008-06-28 and said, "We were there during the time it was low tide. We could not swim in the cloudy sea. We used the pool. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was the worst I have ever lived in. The door to the toilet could not be closed because the door was too high - the towel drop down from the slot as it was broken - there were large holes in the towels - when we would wash our hands it was almost impossible to turn on the tap because it was movable - bad press in the tap - worst of all! it was incredibly huge and horrible cockroach, which ran on the floor. It was awful, we found a better and cheaper hotel that had everything we wanted."
Wictor stayed at Morning Star Resort on 2008-05-04 and said, "Nice little place for a nice bungalow view. We only spent 24 hours here because we needed to move on, but would certainly stay here again. For a stay here I would recommend something better then the standard bungalow. No TV, but the view compensates for it, and the pool is very nice. Nice staff and ok food."
orla stayed at Morning Star Resort on 2008-03-27 and said, "gr8 little place, very quiet nice for a relaxing time! not much to do in area but easy taxi ride to nearest bars! lovely bungalow on the beach extremely clean and friendly. staff very helpful, lovely setting and gorg pool!"
Simon stayed at Morning Star Resort on 2008-03-16 and said, "Stayed there for 3 nights in March, nice room close to the beach, staff are very good and friendly. Nice pool near the beach, the beach itself in front of the hotel is clean but a bit dirty up to the right of it. Nice when the tide goes out as there are some lovely sand banks to go and sit abouts 100 yards out. I would stay there again if in that area."
Per stayed at Morning Star Resort on 2008-01-11 and said, "Very nice staff and very nice pool. In the middle of nowhere, and very very quite. Great resort for relax by the pool or sea. Walk long walks on the beach, have some romantic nights. Sunset fantastic!!. Nice thai and western food. Only one towel pr pers. You have to ask for get new. We had de-luxe bungalow with 2 queensize beds! (fits for family of 4) Very nice beds. Batheroom nice, but slow water. Hot water fine. One the best resorts on Koh Phangan. Tip: Bring flashlight. You will find 7-11 and some other small shops 500 meter away, and a small italian restaurant. Also have a small halal-restaurant close. Stay there - enjoy romance!"
Paula stayed at Morning Star Resort on 2007-11-23 and said, "A lovely beachside bungalow resort. In a quieter location away from the madness of Haad Rin. Bungalows kept clean as was all areas for guests use. The food was freshly prepared and ample. If I had to critisize it would be that things kept going wrong in our particular bungalow. However the problems were solved as soon as we told the owners. I would definitley consider staying at Morning Star again."
Ninni stayed at Morning Star Resort on 2007-08-26 and said, "Very nice resort. Clean room, good food, nice personnel and a nice pool. It was low water at the time so a pool was necassary."
Charlotte stayed at Morning Star Resort on 2007-08-09 and said, "My three children aged, 4, 7, and 11 years old enjoyed our 8 day stay at Morning Star. The owner, and the crew - especially Tom made our stay great. Bungalow, pool and garden is fabulous and so is the wonderful food at very good price. The place is quiet and secluded and beach is not the best on the island - but i really encorage you to stay at this wonderful place, with a wonderful staff!!"
Jennifer stayed at Morning Star Resort on 2007-08-08 and said, "We found the morning star to be brilliant. Had three nights there and would of loved to stay another night or two. It was so relaxing and peaceful. The bungaloxs where great and very private. The pool was beautiful and the restaurant was really good. All staff where excellent and i would have no problems recommending a stay at the morning star!! Also the pictures they advertise don t do it justice! Only downfall was that the bathroom was a bit smelly, we think it was due to a blocked drain. These never took away from our stay!!"
Liz stayed at Morning Star Resort on 2007-07-05 and said, "Hotel is essentially OK but the location is very remote. If you do stay here do not pay the extra for a superior room as literally all you get extra for 500 bht a night is an additional single bed which we did not require! Big waste of money. The deluxe chalets looked really nice and very nice and new but they were much more expensive. The standard chalets were small but clean. The beach was a dissapointment - not the golden clean sand you d expect and when the tide is out you have to walk 15 minutes out to sea over lots of hungry crabs! The pool area was great, however and we enjoyed lazing around it for a few days and we did find it very relaxing. On the whole I wouldn t return to Koh Phangan and would much prefer to spend a few days extra on Samui or Ko Tao. Unless you go on full moon there really isn t anything worth seeing or doing!"
Heidi stayed at Morning Star Resort on 2007-05-30 and said, "Beautiful - rooms fairly basic but location great. Very relaxing and the pool was great too, but the best part was the restaurant - awesome food! Would go back!"
Mark stayed at Morning Star Resort on 2007-04-30 and said, "Very clean, comfortable, and good value for the price. I called twice to be picked-up at the ferry landing - but both times they had an excuse for why it was not possible."
Ludwig stayed at Morning Star Resort on 2007-03-15 and said, "very good. very friendly. we will come again."
J stayed at Morning Star Resort on 2007-03-08 and said, "Close to the airport and all the other activities. Great crowd at the Bar. Enjoyed the stay."
Has. stayed at Morning Star Resort on 2007-03-02 and said, "A FANTASTIC PLACE we planned to stay for 4 nights in this sublime resort and if we didn t had to make an emergency leave from Thailand to The Netherlands we would definitely stayed longer. I will tell you that without mr Arun and the dear ms Jitra we really shouldn t be this fast from the island Koh Phangnan to Bangkok. We did it in 6 hours after dark; really unbelievable! They run a beautyfull resort, very clean and they are so helpfull. The swimmingpool is wonderfull and the sea is especially when you have children an outcome because it stays shallow for a long time. We really love these people for everything they ve done for us. This resort is a real eyecatcher, if you go here, you will come again. The price is supergood for the service that you get, the food is jummy and in good price. It s also close enough to Haad Rin if you want to go to the Full Moon Party, but when the fullmoon is gone it is so nice and quiet you really feel you are on a bounty island and it s yours. all and all... gooooo there!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Marcus stayed at Morning Star Resort on 2007-03-02 and said, "A 10 min drive from thong sala south along a strip of resorts which stretches down to had rin, we found this place very good value for money. I would highly recommend hiring a scooter as soon as possible from the local corner store,as it is a short drive from the main road. Bungalow was clean and tidy and everything worked. Nice swimming pool, and pleasant staff. Would certainly return."
Daniel stayed at Morning Star Resort on 2007-02-11 and said, "WOW! what an awesome resort. Very nice, very clean. WE had the second bungalow from the beach. Food was very good and the owners are very nice and helpful, to be exact all the staff is very friendly. They were able to arrange mopeds for us,tours and day trips. The beach is very quiet so if that s what you are looking for this is a great place to consider. There is also a very nice pool that was just recently put in. We liked this property so much that we extended our stay by a week (3 weeks in total). Friends of ours came over from Samui for one night (they were staying on Chaweng) and they wanted to stay longer at the Morningstar. We re all going back next year. Very reasonably priced as well. Thanks Arun and Jitra, see you next year!!!!"
Ali stayed at Morning Star Resort on 2007-02-02 and said, "A great spot! Private and quiet - clean - beach NOT busy - restaurant food was also great - we would return and DO recommend for a quiet remote type of vacation."
Lennarth stayed at Morning Star Resort on 2007-01-02 and said, "5 stars of 5. A little paradice on Koh Pangjang. Fantastic garden souranding the bungalows. The Pool was perfect. The bungalow me and my wife stayed in had everything you need for a perfect holiday. The staaf kept everything in order with a big smile in their faces. We stayed for five nights and at the end we were sorry that we havn´t stayed there for the whole vacationWe had some dishes whitch were extremly welltasted. I can recommend this place to anyone......"
Chad stayed at Morning Star Resort on 2007-01-01 and said, "Lovely quiet resort away from all the action of Haad Rin, but yet close enough to get there easily if need be."
Claire stayed at Morning Star Resort on 2006-12-30 and said, "Really loved this place. Nice clean beach huts all overlooking the swimming and the lovely beach. Resort owners and staff all friendly, def the best place to stay on Baan Tai with a short 10min drive to haad rin. only downful was the lack of light on the road on the way to the resort. missing the place already and cannot wait to go back.Great value for money."
Claire stayed at Morning Star Resort on 2006-12-30 and said, "Cannot wait to get back.Lovely clean bungalows and all overlook the swimming pool and the lovely beach. All huts lovely and clean but basic with good value for money.Resort owners and staff all friendly and only 10mins Haad Rin by taxi and this resort is a secret paradise."
Candice stayed at Morning Star Resort on 2006-12-28 and said, "Welcome was not friendly and lady could not find my booking at 1st. We then discovered our room was right opposite the reception area with the hot water not working. We found the resort lacked atmosphere and the restaurant never appeared to have anyone eating. The location is on a great stretch of beach and is very quiet. When you book ask for a Bunglow close to the beach as you may end up with one at the back with no view at all except of the restaurant. The resort is also a few minutes walk from the main road and finding a taxi during xmas and n.year is not easy as it is very busy and most taxi s are full. We only stayed one night and our room was not even cleaned the following day. If you want something quiet then i would suggest staying away from Ban Thai and rather head to the North West Coast near Mae Haad Cove."
Brian stayed at Morning Star Resort on 2006-11-03 and said, "The beach here is not very scenic, but it is fairly close to the Full Moon Party. Much better beaches located north on the island.Rooms are overpriced and amenities are minimal. Owners informed me that at least a 4 night stay was REQUIRED during the FMP. Food and especially drinks are expensive. Do yourself a favor and walk to the local 7-11 where alcohol is half the price. Abysmal water pressure makes it difficult to get a clean shower. Bathroom sink was barely hanging from the wall. Owners came into my room the night of the FMP and turned off my lights and A/C. It s their right to do this I guess, but my privacy felt a bit invaded. Owners seemed dishonest and rarely smiled. Overall I felt unwelcome at this resort. Do not recommend and would not stay here again."
azulay stayed at Morning Star Resort on 2006-07-13 and said, "The place is very nice, helpful staff, specially Onawa. The bungalow was very simple, no closet (so the clothes had to stay in the suitcases), no mirror in the bathroom (so for shaving one has to jump between the bathroom and the mirror in the room), no shelves,no stands. The sea run away, very , very far, so forget about swimming or even wetting your feet. The internet very slow (but charged as in every place around the island). Good for the Full Moon Party, taxis on the main road all the time (though you have to walk to the main road, and at night it is not so nice)"
Sofie stayed at Morning Star Resort on 2006-07-10 and said, "Amazing!!!! Owners were helpful, beautiful and friendly (this includes obliging to crazy drink requests!) with great taste in music! :) The scene is breathtaking, incredibly beautiful and chilled. A taxi ride was always available on request (ten minutes to Haad Rin). The bungalows were wonderful with a great view from balcony. With such a scenic, beautiful friendly place it is hard not to have a fantastic time!"
Tony stayed at Morning Star Resort on 2006-06-08 and said, "Great Bungalows!!! I went for full moon party. If you want to stay away from the full moon party area but close enough to get there when you want its a great place. The staff was awesome and helped out as much as they could with any questions. rooms were great. The only thing I would warn against is that it is not on the main road. so its a bit of a walk to catch a taxi. but if your going for full moon i suggest you rent a motorbike - its the easiest way to get around the island. the food was great. some of the best thai food i have EVER had. I would stay there again."
Lauren stayed at Morning Star Resort on 2006-04-11 and said, "Better than we could have imagined from the pix on the net. The view out over the water to Samui is breathtaking. The bungalows are clean, cute and small, but with plenty of room for your stuff. Although the showers are not fantastic, pressure is ok but lacks volume, and the drain is in the corner of the room, making things awkward. Other than that, a room with A/C and bath is best option. There are plenty of beautiful flowers and plants and wood to give a tropical feel. The restaurant has good service, menu for all meals of the day, plus cocktails and snac. Food is quite good and reasonably priced, although not cheap (avge 70-90B meal, 40B drink). There are plenty of activities that can be organised from the resort (kyaking, jeep, taxi and motorbike hire...) and there was internet although v slow and expensive 2B a minute) and can get your laundry done there for a reasonable 50B kg which is handy. The resort is close to a 7/11 and other conveniences including a slightly expensive massage place. It is also well placed to get to had rin, or escape the hustle and bustle of it (50b per taxi to had rin, very hilly ride). The beach at morning star is beautiful but disappointing for swimming as it is VERY shallow for a long way out (hire a kyak to paddle to deeper water!). The thai family who own the place are lovely, speak plenty of English and are super helpful. Their little daughter runs around singing and is very cute. Definitely recommend it."
Avital stayed at Morning Star Resort on 2005-07-20 and said, "lovely hotel and very nice people. the only problem is that it is off the main road and some walking is needed to get to its location and that travelling around (if you do not rent a car or motorcycle) is a little problematic due to the infrequency of taxis on the road - but well, that s the problem of Koh Phangan in general. I would definately recommend staying in this hotel if you are looking for peace and quiet and not the ambience of Haad Rin"
