steve stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2008-03-26 and said, "We came to Thailand for two weeks. We stayed at Long Bay for the first week and then moved Islands and checked into a more expensive one - but i wish we had stayed longer! We d never been to Thailand before - so we didnt know what to expect. I m so pleased we started at Long Bay. The resort is perfectly located on the beach - you couldnt get any closer. Theres pool as well. Amazing food - really affordable. We lived off fresh Coconut shakes and seafood caught earlier that day. Massages on the beach, local food stores near by, other resorts/restaurants on the same stretch of beach that also serve tasty food, cash point at the top of the road. Most of these other resorts cook fresh fish on BBQ s on the beach in the evening as the sun goes down. The staff at Long Bay were nice as well - friendly and helpful, without being too much. Do not hesitate: book here. there s no way you wont enjoy it. Get one of the Huts on the beach - the best! Steve"
SCHWARZ stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2008-01-12 and said, "The resort is really a good decide. The staff and also all the people from the resort are very nice and kindly.Only the breakfast is very poor, more choice for the custumers would be better. The rooms and the garden, also the swimmingpool are wonderful. We will come again"
Jarrod stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2007-12-29 and said, "I would defiantly shop around for other hotels if you would like to stay on this part of the Island. We found several other hotels of a much higher standard at a much better price, but only once we were there. The reception staff are generally unhelpful and unfriendly. The overpriced new year’s eve dinner was an absolute flop with only 5 guests remaining there after 10pm, it then became a staff party as all the guests left before the new year came in. In conclusion, value for money and quality you can do much much better!"
Mishal stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2007-08-27 and said, "location :the hotel is very beatifulgreat location ( 5 star )the breakfast is poor ( 1 star )the room is good but the toilet is very poor ( 2 star )the staff is very bad :when i checked in the shower was leaking when i call the recieption ladshe answer me go take your mony from your agent or enjoy with that room( 1 star )"
Yaniv stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2007-03-26 and said, "We were family of 4 (2 adults and 2 childrens )) age: 6 and 3). We stayed at standard room (it is a seperated bugalow) and payed for an extra bed (we recieved a wide mattress on the floor )) which was very good for us). the room is very good (big enough). the stuff is very friendly. there are variety of resturants on the beach near the hotel. the hotel resturants is very good and prices are fair. We were dissapointed from the breakfast (very poor )) no variety) and especisally diassapointed from the swimming pool (was very very very dirty )) color was green and you could not see even one centimeter inside the water. Our 2 children which like swimming pools, refused to get inside (they was even afraid). After asking the stuff they told us that it is OK in this area (because of dust), which seems not true because we saw 2 other hotels in Haad Yao which were perfect. But if I have to give a total number for the hotel, I would give the number 8 out of 10"
Ella stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2007-03-24 and said, "On an ideal part of the beach (which is stunning) resort is nice but we had a bit of a dodgy bathroom with regular visits from geckos! Our room did back onto the jungle and was very noisy at night time with what we thought was a parrot that lived outside our bathroom window! Other than that the pool and restaurant were very good and staff friendsly and helpful! Rooms clean! Would recommend a visit - but maybe take some earplugs!"
Ralf stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2007-03-17 and said, "Unfortunately I cannot recommend that resort at all.Positive:Very nice location at a quiet beach on Ko Phangan.Nice rooms with reasonable equipment. But thats already everything.negative:- The poolwater was green and pumped with chemicals. Over one week it was not useable and the only action they did was to pump even more chemicals in it. Even when the first guests ( also children)came with skin irritations the General Manager did not change anything and he did also not close the pool.- Breakfast was very poor. Eggs ALWAYS cold, buffet always empty etc.- Staff was very slowly ( waiting for a drink usually 20min)- Menu card was poor and the meals shown often were not availeable.- Staff was desinterested, and when I claimed that my Banana Pancake had no banana in it - they answered that that would be hidden !!??- Staff did speak english very poor and even to rent a motorbike was not possible. Finally I walked along the beach to rent one.- Cleaning the bungalows was also poor. Within one week they did not change our bed sheets. - After our visit we missed one silver ring ( no comment )Some readers might think now that Thai mentality is different. But you can believe me . I was in Thailand for the 11th time and I know what Thai mentality is - That was not Thai mentality that was LONG Bay mentality.Definitely that service and that location is not worth 2000 baht or more.If you do not need the pool ( which is not useable ) walk 50 meter away and you get cheaper rooms with better food and good service provided by smiling and helpful Thais. But do NOT book long bay resort."
Anna-Lena stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2007-02-14 and said, "Stayed in standard bungalows for 2000baht, lot of space for 2 persons, low prices in minibar- The bathroom was a bit smelly and the pressure in shower was low. Cleaning was good too. The breakfastbuffe was very poor. There was always something missing and when the omelletts finaly arrived there was only 2 of them so you have to be quick to the table, it was the same with the fruit and other things. The service at the restaurant was overall a bit slow, low prices compared with restaurants on Koh Samui but there was a lot of good even cheaper restaurants along the beach. The location is very nice at the beautiful Had Yao beach. Overall we liked the place very much."
Ducros stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2007-02-07 and said, "Les bungalows standards sont très bien, le resort est vraiment au bord de la plage, le site est beau. Mon seul bémol est le restaurant, surtout le barbecue le soir."
Shai stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2007-01-23 and said, "nice place, service very bad. they hardly talk any english. owner asked me 300 BHT for trip to Ko-Phangan while on the dock it cost 200BHT."
Amy stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2006-12-30 and said, "The hotel was absolutely lovely, the rooms were of a high standard and the staff very friendly. The breakfasts needed improving but apart from that just perfect."
Philip stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2006-12-28 and said, "Very large and beautiful resort with nice gardens and good bunglows. The staff are friendly and helpful. The pool is great. No english TV channels in the room, only in the restaurant. The New Years eve gala was 2500b, too expensive; the food and entertainment were great but the worst MC in the history of Asia. There were only 3 people watching at 9:30pm, this is a New Year s party? Anyway, this resort has excellent rooms and great managers/staff. I would stay here again."
Caroline stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2006-08-12 and said, "the hotel and place were really great, the bungalows are very near from the beach. the restaurant is excellent and the staff too.it s just 15 mn from the pier in car or motorbike. i recommend it for all the people who loves the sea, the sunsets and the quietness!!!"
Arran stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2006-08-06 and said, "I have just returned from spending a week at this resort with my wife and had a wonderful and peaceful stay. I had read and heard reports before I went that this resort was noisy from a couple of bars close by so was quite anxious before I arrived. Things must have changed and/or the hotel must have addressed the problem from any noise at these near-by bars as there was absolutely no noise at night when I was there (and it was during the week of the full moon party when you might expect a few late goings-on!!). I found my time at Long Bay really relaxing and the resort was clean and well run. Some of the staff could do with being a bit friendlier but all in all a great place to stay. Had Yao is such a beautiful beach and the lack of any big scale development makes it still feel like a tropical paradise. Long Bay has a great spot on the beach with coconut palm trees stretching over the white sands, and a lovely pool (if not a bit too full of cleaning chemicals, but at least you know it’s clean!). The breakfast was ok, if a little slow when having the eggs and bacon, but what’s the rush, you re on holiday! We ate once in the restaurant for dinner but it was average and there are a lot better spots in Had Yao (try Tatwan Bungalows on the hill overlooking Had Yao for a wicked Mussman Curry). The walk along the beach in the evening to find a restaurant is a great experience (remember your torch though). If you want to get away from it all but also have a few amenities (good couple of supermarkets close by for nice cold Chang beers and crisps etc) then Had Yao is a great place to stay on Ko Phangan, and you would be hard pressed to find a better resort than Long Bay Bungalows. We stayed in a standard garden view bungalow which was really nice, with lots of room and big double bed. It was just a stones throw from the pool and the beach (Long Bay is not a big resort). I just hope that the developers do not move into the area and turn Ko Phangan into a mini Ko Samui (now there is how to ruin an island!!). We had no problems getting to and from Had Rin for the full moon party. It was good to see the full moon party but to be honest we felt a bit old to be grooving away on a beach to techno tunes (even at 29!!). Overall, Long Bay was a really nice place to stay and I would highly recommend it. One final piece of advice, BE CAREFUL if hiring mopeds, they are really cheap (150 THB a day) and a great way to see the island but watch out for sand on the road (it’s everywhere), as if you drive over it at speed it is like hitting ice!"
Erik stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2006-07-22 and said, "We stayed for almost a week in two beach front apt. with 3 kids. Nice location and beach with low key atmosphere. Pool area was great for relaxation and the kids. The restaurant seemed to have problems getting things right and the food was average. Check out some of the other restaurants along the beach."
Tim stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2006-05-21 and said, "Clean, close to the beach. Beautiful swimming pool. Fish BBQs (we even got fireworks the one evening!) on the beach if the weather is good (check what day they go to the market to ensure the fish is very fresh). Food is okay, but lots of other little restaurants to try too. We were disappointed that the hotel misinformed us about snorkelling. You can snorkel right off the beach (but wear shoes or you will get ripped to shreds!) and at a few beaches close by, e.g. Had Mae Haad/Koh Ma a few miles away. However, the hotel has no equipment so bring your own or buy some when there. The hotel tried to sell us an around the island snorkelling trip instead at about £30 per person!"
Bertil stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2006-03-11 and said, "We can Unfortunately NOT RECCOMEND this very nice Bungalow Hotel on the beautiful Long Beach. The whole Hotel area is HEAVILY disturbed by music from a open air bar next to the hotel. The bar starts to play at 5 pm and goes on for ABOUT 12 HOURS. It makes it impossible to sleep and you have to do that during daytime. It also mekes it impossible to enjoy the beautiful evenings. Many of us guests talked to the manager but he did not do anything about it.Our family stayed for a week, since we had paied in advance, and honestly it was worse than a nightmare. ( when you have a nightmare you are at least sleeping) PLEASE DO CONSIDER THIS BEFORE YOU BOOK THIS, in other respects, beautiful resort."
Robert stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2006-03-05 and said, "Bungalow OK.Bad picture on TV.Barking dogs all night long.At daytime very nice to just sit on veranda. The eldery man who served us at breakfast and dinner was no charmer. He just asked us two things Ham ,fried eggs.Learn the personal some english. The beach is OK,except for the dogs everywhere."
Pamela stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2006-02-21 and said, "We loved it. The people were wonderful; service was great. The most relaxing atmosphere we had throughout the whole trip. We would definitely go back."
Sabrina stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2006-02-21 and said, "Nice and clean Bungis and Resort. The Staff ist very helpfull. The Beach was great, but the tide was very low in the afternoon that we can´t swim in the ocean. The Hotel visit many Swedish familys with children. At the Beach it´s quieter than at the pool.Seafood-Buffet-Dinner ecellent !!"
William stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2006-02-10 and said, "It was really nice! We had a bungalow facing the ocean the first night and then the manager fixed so we could get the bungalow by the pool next to our friends the rest of our stay. We had booked by Sawadee 7 nights but it was so lovely here that we booked 3 more nights. The beach is wonderful, the pool very well kept and the bungalows perfect. We travelled with two small children and the only thing that i can complain about is that they had no baby cot available. Otherwise I could live here for the rest of my life."
Martina stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2006-01-30 and said, "Best hotel on Haad Yao Beach. Well kept and clean. Only staff at breakfest could be more attentive."
Susan stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2006-01-30 and said, "Very good, well worth upgrading to a seaview, as some of the other rooms do not have good views. Staff were very helpful, and it was very near other good restaurants and bars"
Anja stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2006-01-29 and said, "We had a seaside bungalow and were disappointed about the very basic interior and the very poor breakfast buffet. The pool area is nice though and we enjoyed this one a lot. In total the resort is over-priced for what you get."
Martin stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2005-12-14 and said, "Long Bay is situated about 40 minutes drive (95% on hilly paved roads) from Haad Rin & 20 mins from Thong Sala. You ll land at one of these two ports when you arrive in Koh Phangan. The beachfront bungalows (bathrooms are a little basic) are situated a few metres from the beach. When we were there (December) the sea was quite high and covered the beach for most of the day - apparently this isn t usual however. Fortunately, Long Bay has a nice pool area so we didn t miss the beach too much. Haad Yao where Long Bay is is quite quiet so if you are looking for nightlife that is on a par with the Full Moon Parties, its probably not the place for you. But it is a lovely beachside resort.Long Bay is the most sophisticated of the Haad Yao beachside hotels and generally speaking the staff are friendly and helpful. The only slightly negative experience was when we enquired about return transport to Haad Rin at the end of our stay. They didn t know boat times and seemed like they didn t want to help us in anyway. There is also some building work going on around the resort - but if you can put up with some hammering & sawing then its no big deal. All in all we loved Koh Phangan & Haad Yao and would consider going back to Long Bay."
Judy stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2005-09-19 and said, "Fantastic location lovely beach if only the staff were a bit friendlier. Bungalows situated along the beach and are spacious and kept well. Amazing night time barbeque for a reasonable price. Much quieter than Koh Samui but nice to relax.. Watch out for the poison frogs they are waiting to grab you..."
Silke stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2005-08-28 and said, "We stayed 8 nihgts at Long Bay Resort and it was a really nice resort. The place is like paradise with the view of the ocean and the hills. I ve never seen anything like this before! The staff is friendly, but the service is not that good. They didn t change our sheets once and we had some little bugs in our bed. The reataurant is cheap and you get good food. Breakfast doesn t offer a big choice but actually it s enough. I really can recommend this hotel, because the nature and the enviroment is like finding heaven on earth....."
Helen stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2005-08-01 and said, "Long Bay Resort was probably one of the better places to stay on Koh Phangan because the beach is beautiful and the resort has the best restaurant along this beach. In fact, many tourists staying at other places tended to walk down the beach to the restaurant at Long Bay Resort for dinner or BBQ on the beach at night. The staff would set tables out on the sand by the waters edge with candles for romantic dinner under the stars. We stayed in airconditioned poolside studios and they were modern, clean and comfortable. The pool is great and well maintained. The staff were very friendly and helpful with all our enquiries. It is true that at certain times of year you can t swim in the water out front of the resort because of the exposure of coral when the tide goes out. However, you can still splash around in sandy areas around the coral even when the tide is out. The pool is also a good backup for cooling off. I would higly recommend Long Bay Resort and would definitely return."
Kathy stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2005-07-31 and said, "This place is great...if you want to be treated worse than a stray dog in Thailand by the hotel management. Upon arrival, we were dissapointed with the lack of effort the management made for us to feel like guests. We were seen as an already cashed check to ride out. They offer no help in informing you correctly on such things like snorkelling trips, boat trips... pretty much things to do other than lay on their beach of dead coral and pebbles or their nice pool (which is all they really have going for them-that is why there are only pictures of that). The restaurant was fine which is a plus since there is not much around the resort. I only use the word resort as such since it was the words of the supposed owner quote we are not a first class hotel. This was in response to my upset wife who began to cry due to his lack of remorse and told my wife to leave and cry outside. We rented a jeep from the place (800Bht) which broke down. After getting that jeep replaced 40 minutes later, it broke down not more than 30 seconds after being replaced. Contacting our manager at the hotel, he tried to pass off that he only spoke Thai and no English (this after speaking with him twice already). When we informed the management that we were checking out and not continuing our stay, they lied to us saying that Web Sawadee has not paid them (not true according to Sawadee) and could not refund any money despite their own cancellation policy that states that only half is held and not full for less than 24 hour notice(check your policy on your own guest doors for that Long Bay). The services on the website are non-existant. Management told us that the marine park was closed at the time and he could not arrange anything. The grocery store next door that offers tours to marine park said otherwise (as well as ALL other dive centers in the nearby town). They have NO snorkelling equipment and NO hiking information. They did not offer any tour booking or information and actually we were told to go find it ourselves (this just at the time when we checked-in). Transfer service was good in but if you want to get around they informed us to wait on the road for something. Not easy to get information if that is the case.We are not trying to bad mouth the place but rather we want to keep anyone and everyone from experiencing what we had to go through."
SIMON stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2005-05-05 and said, "Really nice rooms with great a/c, mini bar and tv. The pool and jacuzzi are nicest we saw in Thailand. Nice BBQ on the beach most nights. Would recommend for families and couples."
Diane stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2005-05-03 and said, "The resort is situated on a beautiful beach which is also very peaceful. If you want to have a quiet time this is the place. The bungalows are spacious and clean and there is a tv and minibar also. Staff were friendly and the admin staff spoke good english. The only downside was that the water was so shallow you couldn t really swim however the resort does have a nice pool."
Julian stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2005-05-01 and said, "Stayed at the poolview bunglows and bunglows were in excellent condition. Restaurant serves good seafood. Swimming / snorkelling only possible when there is a tide in. Waters very calm during my stay."
ERIC stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2005-04-15 and said, "the best place in long bay"
Rafal stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2005-04-13 and said, "Very nice pool (with jaccuzi), standart room w A/C was very nice, but there wasn t wardrobe and we have to keep our clothes in the bags on the floor. The bathroom was clean but without any furniture too. The resort is secluded, shop is not far (5 minut walk), nearly only few restaurants and nightlife is limitated. The beach is quite nice, but all my 6 day stay in april there was a low tide (no swim, no snoorkeling :-( )."
Theresa stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2005-03-02 and said, "The hotel looks really poh. But the staff is unfriendly and their english is very bad. We stayed for over a week and we didn t get our sheets changed once. There were lots of cockroaches in our room and the shower only drizzeld. I wouldn t recommend this place. Unless perhaps you stay in a more expensive bungalow (we stayed in a standard air con room) and are travelling with children since the pool is excellent."
Miss stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2005-02-11 and said, "Stayed here in Feb and I have to saw its gorgeous if you are looking for relaxation, the beach and the views are lovely. The bungalows are big, we had a pool view. I would have to say that the area is VERY quiet and for me too quiet, 2 restaurants/bars on beach and a a few places a walk along the beach. If you stay here for longer than 1/2 days I would recommend a bike or car as there is not much in walking distance and Taxis are rare."
Andrea stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2004-11-25 and said, "Nice hotel for the very resonable priced. Beach is clean and nice. I would recommend to friends."
Karen stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2004-10-09 and said, "Nice accommodations right on the beach as shown on the website. Good food at restaurant. Woman who runs the front desk is not the most friendly or helpful. Would definitely stay there again."
Miss stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2004-09-28 and said, "Friendly staff, great beach. We had a pool side room which was basic but served our purposes, dim lighting which wasnt so good. A taxi (truck) into Haad Rin takes about half an hour so this is really a place you come to chill by the pool or on the beach. Recommend two nights max."
Kyla stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2004-09-03 and said, "Great location, great service, friendly staff, beautiful bungalow, with tea and coffee making facilities (a must for many but not all). Would go back again."
Olivia stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2004-08-30 and said, "Great service, beautiful location, but the showers aren t very good. The water is not strong when it comes out. The beach is nice and secluded, but not a great place to swim."
Kindler stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2004-07-31 and said, "very nice and clean resort, nice ( roomy and new) bungalow, friendly staff, clean pool, wonderful beach, but the restaurant - unflexible (breakfast) and expensive ( or the meals are, let me say - a little bit too small),you can get better and more for less money in the surrounding!"
Miss stayed at Long Bay Resort on 2004-03-08 and said, "A fairly new bungalow resort - everything is clean and fresh. We stayed in a `Deluxe poolview` bungalow which was fantastic - it overlooked both the pool and the beach and made sitting on the balcony with a beer at sunset....quite wonderful! The beach itself is quite narrow - impossible to lie on at high tide, but Long Bay has a lovely pool with diving board and free sunbeds and towels. Everything on this beach (hat Yao) is centred on the beach - around half a km, with lots of delicious restaurants. snorkling here was good too as there are coral reefs just off the beach with lots to see."
