Angus stayed at First Villa on 2008-06-17 and said, "We had a small semi-detached bungalow right on the beach. However, the beach is not that great. Water comes right in when the tide is in. When it goes out, it goes out miles and miles. So its best to laze by the pool which is small but ok. Its a taxi drive or scooter ride to get to the main beach for the full-moon party.Bungalow was very basic, with chinzy curtains and bedding. Very dated. The restaurant was a revelation. Very good food at incredibly cheap prices. Very good range of food available and everything we tried was really excellent. My girlfriend is Thai and she loved it all too. Breakfast was good too.Best thing about this place is the nice people running it. Very friendly and nice. And its cheap too.Overall we had a nice time."
Catherine stayed at First Villa on 2007-11-23 and said, "The setting is beautiful, right on the sea. There s not too much going on locally though so for a good night out head into Haad Rin. It s approx 10-15 minutes taxi ride but I would recommend walking out to the road and flagging 1 down as the hotel charges more for a proper air-con mini-bus and it can be a bit intermitent (probably better high season). If you re brave enough to ride a scooter (I wasn t) this must be the best way to get about. Whatever you do don t hire a jeep though, the roads are a nightmare and you need a scooter or a proper sturdy vehice to tackle them, it s a bad move believe me. We went for the Full Moon party then booked another hotel in Haad Rin for a few days after but all in all First Villa was nice, tidy and although it can sometimes be a little difficult to comunicate with the staff, they were all friendly and helpful and the thai food and breakfast was good."
James stayed at First Villa on 2007-04-30 and said, "The accommodations were excellent. It was a bit of a scary trip to get there with the hills, but all in all worthwhile. Additionally, the food was excellent and the staff very courteous. I would definitely go back if the opportunity arose."
Sarah stayed at First Villa on 2007-03-02 and said, "Situated down a very bumpy dirt road and run by people that can barely understand English (reception couldnt even give me Bangkok Airport s phone number!!) and quite a distance from Haad Rin which if going to full moon party it is expensive to get to by taxi, I WOULD NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL AGAIN!! The in room TV also only has 3 religious channels and a fashion channel so if you spend a day in bed sick like i did, its not much good to you. Lovely view of the sunset and nice pool but thats about it."
Peggy stayed at First Villa on 2007-02-02 and said, "This place is sooo overpriced! First let me start with positives:1) Rooms were big with a nice view to the ocean. 2) Beautiful property with a great poolNow the negatives:1)Cable never worked2)Service was horrible! On our first day we ordered lunch...ended up waiting for an hour! There were 3 of us...so our dishes came one at a time! And the restaurant wasn t even full! Two days in...I ordered a coffee by the pool. The lady (perhaps the owner and the only one who spoke english) took my order. After 20 minutes..I still didn t receive my coffee. Meanwhile..she s serving lunch to the other guests! (who also complained that the food took too long). So you can see there s a backlog of orders. I finally received my coffee only because I flagged her down. When it did arrive...she forgot the sugar! We never ate at the resort for this reason. Food in tong sala was much better and cheaper!3) Resort needs to replace all deck chairs. Half were broken and held together by ocean rocks to keep them standing!4)The road leading to the resort desperately needs to be paved!Thank goodness our stay was only 3 days. It s a shame...this resort almost had it all."
Lara stayed at First Villa on 2007-02-02 and said, "We do feel First Villa was a bit overpriced for what you got but it was pretty.. the gardens and pool area made it very special specially at sunset. The food and service left much to be desired. Overall we did have a lovely time there.. very quiet and relaxed atmosphere.. good to get away from Haad Rin after the fullmoon party to a tranquil vibe. Thanks...!"
Rohan stayed at First Villa on 2007-01-02 and said, "This was another gem that we found. A beautiful tranquil outlook over the straights to Koh Samui, but far away enough from the other resorts to be quiet and relaxing. Staff were very pleasant, especially the owner, who was very caring and motherly when advising us on the way of the land at the Full Moon Party. The hotel massage service was also great. Would definitly stay there again."
Matthew stayed at First Villa on 2006-12-23 and said, "If you re looking for a calm and serene setting, look no further; if you re looking to party, keep looking. This is the ideal spot for a young family or couple to come spend a week at. The food is good but not cheap, and same with the cocktails, so First Villas has effectively priced backpackers and college students away (which is exactly what some people want). The rooms were very well maintained and the pool was immaculate. Friendly staff, too."
Thomas stayed at First Villa on 2006-12-20 and said, "First Villa is a lovely place where nobody seem to know how to run a hotel business. The capacity of the kitchen is very poor, if you order the dinner you ll have it just before breakfast. We have to keep in mind that we where 11 people in our group, including 5 children, from 8 to 15 years old."
Melinda stayed at First Villa on 2006-12-03 and said, "Accom was ok for price paid, staff wasn t very helpful. asked for a cab into town and told it was a 10 minute walk. wasn t too happy to see the hotel bus pass us on the way into town, after we d just left. FYI - its about a 45 minute walk to thong sala..would recommend this place if you don t want to go anywhere and aren t too fussed about a beach."
Reni stayed at First Villa on 2006-06-08 and said, "this place was awesome just dont have good conection with the internet.some service good but little bit not comfortable with the cleaning service, to make up our room .food was great , too bad people speak in english very little."
Viviana stayed at First Villa on 2005-12-30 and said, "we were staying at a beachfront bungalow in January 06. The bungalow was very clean and not even 10 metres away from the beach! The staff was very friendly and helped me getting better when i was sick by getting a nurse to our bungalow. Excellent service! The sea is not so good to swim in, but they have a nice pool. A minus was the dirty road to get to the hotel, i hope they will make a road soon. We will defenitily recomend the beachfront bungalow at First Villa for some peace and quiteness and for a bit of romance."
Mr stayed at First Villa on 2005-09-20 and said, "The hotel is in idyllic spot. The bungalows which are spotless, well equiped.and are no more than 20m. from beach. The staff are very friendly and efficient. The only drawback is that the bar and rest. close at 8.00 pm and you need to arrange a taxi to take you anywhere as the the hotel is at least akm. off main road. I would say if you wish to stay at a hotel which is quite and off beaten track this is perfedt for for you."
Jon stayed at First Villa on 2005-09-13 and said, "This hotel is VERY overpriced. The location is poor (down a dirt track)and the rooms were small. With some luck you can get a taxi but these are not the cheapest as the drivers know they can take advantage of the fact you are in the middle of nowhere. We did not expect the lack of anything resembling a beach. We were not provided with hot water and the room was not properly cleaned and the bedding had holes in it. Construction commenced at 7:30am. (not what you want from a holiday!) We cut short our stay. I was pleased to get away as quickly as possible."
Rachel stayed at First Villa on 2005-08-13 and said, "Nice hotel, beautiful location but the three days ( 13 to 15,07,2005) me and my partner stayed we were woke up to the sound of wood cutting machines. Also a big and loud machine was digging up land either side of the hotel. I believe in progress but the rest and relaxation we needed was shattered. We had booked for 3 days and was glad to leave, as i said beautiful location, rooms a bit small so dont expect spacious rooms and please check for building work before booking."
J stayed at First Villa on 2005-08-03 and said, "Great place to chill out. Beautiful setting on beach, and the food is excellent. Best place we stayed in Thailand."
Nick stayed at First Villa on 2005-07-23 and said, "We found the first villa a great little hotel located right on the beach - of which the view is superb. We stayed in a small garden AC bungalow, which was indeed quite small, but for the cost of the room was excellent value for money. The resort was generally in good condition, and the rooms were cleaned daily. The small swimming pool was clean, and often extremley quiet, which led to very relaxing afternoons soaking up the sun.The beach, although looking beautiful from the hotel was not really that suitable for swimming as the sea was very shallow but deep enaough for a paddle. However taxi s were extreamly cheap and better beaches were never too far away."
Camilla stayed at First Villa on 2005-02-28 and said, "This hotel is a little pearl on the southwest coast of Koh phangan. Family athmospere, good food, nice staff and perfect for those who want to lay back and enjoy the sun. The beach is a bit rough and when we stayed it was windy so the water was not so good to swim in.We enjoyed our stay very much and would love to come back again!"
David stayed at First Villa on 2005-01-26 and said, "Before we booked the hotel, we read all the good comments about this place and the discriptions of being the Garden of Eden. We must say that all were right. If you looking for Heaven on earth, this is the place. When we came to the resort and were shown the room booked we liked it, but asked if there is even a better one and ended staying in the Jacuzzi Bungalow double room. It was a great room to stay in. The bathroom with the shower and the jacuzzi is excellent. The room is located next to the pool and the beach. We could enjoy the sunsets every day on a very romantic way. The pool is very well kept and so is the rest of the place with very nice gardens. The walk along the beach gives you the feeling that you are in a virgin island, because it is not crowded like in other places. If all this is not enough, the food is out of this world. My wife and I decided not to move from this heavenly place, so we had our three daily meals in the hotel. The food was the best we had in our one month stay in Thailand. Was always cooked on the spot, large variety of dishes, besides the fact that you could also order things that were not in the menu and they prepared it to please us. The staff was the most frienly people we met in our trip, even if their English was not the best, they always did their best to please us. The prices in the restaurant are very low for the quality they offer. We highly recommend to have all the meals there. The place is run by the owner, Mrs Vimol Thongsri, she is very nice lady, always with a smile, ready to do her best to please her guests. She is always around checking and taking care of the place and the guests. Also the head waiter Prachum Pansai took excellent care of us and we miss much is kindness. The place also provides free internet service. If you looking for a place to forget all and just enjoy the beauty of this world and life, if you want to be in a romantic place, this is the place to be. My wife and I look forward to return to Thailand and to stay again in this heavenly place."
Anita stayed at First Villa on 2005-01-22 and said, "We had a really good time staying at First Villa for 5 days this january. A quiet and nice place to relax. Close to Tongsala, and easy to take a taxi to Hat Rin if you like to party....The bungalow was clean and the people working there was very nice and helpfull. The restaurant also had very good food with low prices. We would love to come back to stay at First villa next time we go to Koh Pangnan. Anita-Norway"
Silvan stayed at First Villa on 2004-04-12 and said, "The Hotel itself is good, clean and friendly service. The food is also great. Just the location is in `the middle of nowhere`. You have to have a rent-bike or rent-car. Swimming in the sea is not really possible."
Alexander stayed at First Villa on 2004-02-05 and said, "Where you in paradise? Here it is. It is just magic place. It seems I have left something important here...The affable mistress, excellent food, nice bungalows, service. And palms, the moon, waves... Aon, her smile and incredible eyes reflecting this moon, these palms ans sea, it would be desirable to sink in these eyes.It is just a paradise."
Elaine stayed at First Villa on 2004-01-10 and said, "Lovely place - very qiet and relaxing. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was fantastic!"
