SUDHIR stayed at River Kwai Hotel on 2008-05-03 and said, "A good Hotel. However, the carpets need refurbishing.Breakfast was good."
Tania stayed at River Kwai Hotel on 2008-04-10 and said, "The hotel was lovel. The bed was large ad comfortable. 1 negative was the location as it wasn t close to the street here all the bars, restuarants & our booking places are.Can be noisy at night due to a bar and disco downstairs. The bathroom was ok but the shower had next to no pressure.I would stay in the main street if where to visit again."
Arun stayed at River Kwai Hotel on 2008-04-04 and said, "It is a good hotel. I would give it 7 out of 10. Rooms are clean and tastefully deorated. Hotel staff is courteous and prompt. The restaurnt is also good, but the variety of food is restricted. Very limited choice for vegetarians. The only problem is that the hotel does not provide pick and drop facility to the bus stand or railway station, both are just 1 km away from the hotel. Taxi for same distance costs 100 Baht, which is expensive."
K.K. stayed at River Kwai Hotel on 2008-02-09 and said, "Fair value for price. Breakfast /Meals could add some more vegetarian items so that the growing number of vegetarians can enjoy the breakfast and meals. Location is very good, staff was very nice. Rooms were OK. If one wants to stay in the city.. perhaps the best choice."
Klepper stayed at River Kwai Hotel on 2008-01-28 and said, "We stayed two days in this Hotel, as the year before. It is very good for the price. Nice rooms and good service. Nice swimmingpool. Not far from The Bridge . I would stay there again."
Sanjeev stayed at River Kwai Hotel on 2007-12-29 and said, "Hotel was centrally located good.Water seapage seems to be a major problem at various locations in the Hotel but rooms are nicely maintained and it was worth for the money paid."
Mr stayed at River Kwai Hotel on 2007-11-24 and said, "On arrival we were told to go to an annexe to the main hotel called River Inn. This was a shabby low rise block where we we shown two small double rooms which were very dated. I noticed the Inn was advertising rooms at 350-450 baht.I said the rooms were unacceptable as at the very least we requested 3 separate beds. I was originally told the main hotel was fully booked so I said they had better sort something out otherwise I would contact Sawasdee to find us another hotel. This threat worked as we then were taken back to the main hotel and given what we asked for in the first place, a room with three separate beds. The stay was fine but why try to cheat us out of the facilities we paid for and attempt to place us in a room charged at 350 baht?"
Tiger stayed at River Kwai Hotel on 2007-10-27 and said, "Very satisfied all round. Group of 6 stayed for 5 nights - all rooms good - friendly staff - excellent service."
Alex stayed at River Kwai Hotel on 2007-09-04 and said, "The hotel was fine if you re just staying in Kanchanaburi for one or two nights to go sightseeing and spend most of the day out and about . The rooms were generally clean, the food was adequate and customer service satisfactory. However, I think it is fair to say that this hotel has seen better days and is in need of refurbishment. The carpets smell a bit, the pool is run down and there s just a sense of 1970 s Benidorm about it. Therefore, ok for a short visit, go elsewhere for a family/longer stay."
dianne stayed at River Kwai Hotel on 2007-06-21 and said, "Lovely hotel, modern, not character but clean and well located.Karaoke noisy, but ok in back rooms."
Colleen stayed at River Kwai Hotel on 2007-06-05 and said, "River Kwai Hotel was definitely the least memorable of the hotels that we stayed at on this trip. The room was very clean and comfortable though quite small. The hallways do have a very old musty smell and the carpeting is old & stained. The pool could do with a really good clean. Overall the service was fine & if you are looking for a hotel in the centre of Kanchanaburi and you are not over fussy you will find this hotel convenient as we did. We would probably look elsewhere if we were to return to Kanchanaburi."
Jan stayed at River Kwai Hotel on 2007-06-04 and said, "Excellent bed, i slept like a rose on this boxspring bed. We did not have any trouble with the noise of the disco.Oke a new carpet on the floor would be better."
Kathryn stayed at River Kwai Hotel on 2007-04-09 and said, "Staff very friendly, nice spacious clean rooms, resturant had a lot of variety, close to everything. Try and get room at back as Cowboy Bar can get bit noisy.Had a lovely stay there and would highly recommend River Kwai Hotel and would stay there again if in Thailand."
Jana stayed at River Kwai Hotel on 2007-01-26 and said, "We stayed at this hotel twice during our stay in Kanchanaburi and found this hotel fantastic. The staff was great and so helpful. We had a minor problem and the staff persisted until the problem was completely solved which was so refreshing after some experiences we d had throughout Thailand"
Mr. stayed at River Kwai Hotel on 2006-12-28 and said, "What a terranle experience. I will never recommend this resort to any one. We will mever return. The corridors stink of dampness ass well as the bedrooms. There is so much noice untill 2 am from the disco that you have absolutely no peave. There Cowboy Restaurant is even worst. You order a starter and it arrives almost an hour after the main meal and may I add, ice cold. Ordering a steak is no good. They do not posses a steak knife and what they call a table knife will take ypu a year to saw through the meat. This happenef all three times we ate there. No, deffinately a No-No from us."
Grant stayed at River Kwai Hotel on 2006-12-20 and said, "Booking accommodation in Kanchanaburi was the most difficult choice of our holiday. This was primarily because most of the Hotels are out of town, and we didn t want to stay at guest houses. We chose The River Kwai essentially because it was in town and gave us options. We didn t want to be stuck in the middle of nowhere having to rely solely on the food and drinks of the Hotel we were staying in. Neither were we too fussed about luxuries. We just wanted somewhere clean, comfortable and quiet. Basically, we were very happy with our choice. The staff were very helpful and friendly, especially when you ve just spent time in Bangkok. We had read about the night club and Cowboy bar out the front of the Hotel and the noise generated by both. We had requested a room at the back of the Hotel, which we were given. The bar and club do generate ALOT of noise, and I can t begin to imagine what it must be like if you re in a room at the front of the Hotel. We couldn t hear any of it at the back. But what we did hear was the sound of the airconditioning units at the back of the Hotel. These weren t too bad - certainly better than hearing the noise from the front - but it was noise all the same. And that s not meant to be a complaint, just a comment. You try and pre-empt one issue only to be faced with another. Either way, with the Hotel backing onto the train line, we were well aware of both the 2am and 6am trains with their respective horns waking the dead. Breakfast was good, though more inclined towards Asian style. They have a coffee bar there if you need something more than the percolated stuff served at breakfast. And Kanchanaburi is on your doorstep. But you should be aware of the following - Kanchanaburi is VERY spread out. Any map you see of Kanchanaburi is completely out of scale. The Bridge over the Kwai is a fair way out. It probably took us at least an hour of walking after leaving the War Cemetary. We found ourselves believeing that the Bridge just HAD TO BE around the next bend in the road. And on and on it went until there was nearly a mutiny, and you find yourself thinking we can t stop now - it has to be close and then ten minutes later your still walking, still trying to ignore your sore feet whilst trying to maintain your positive outlook. The silver lining to this was that we found all the great places to eat along this part of the road. The road from Apples Guesthouse to the Bridge is where all the good restaurants and bars are (as well as all the bad ones). A Sawngtaew from the Bridge to the Hotel cost 100BHT, negotiable if you re willing. By the time we walked there and looked around we d have paid 1000BHT for the lift back. A Tuk-Tuk from the Hotel to The Resort (very nice for dinner) was 60BHT. Tuk-Tuks aren t as easy to come by in Kanchanaburi as they are in Bangkok. They all hang around the Bus terminal in the centre of town, which is not much use when you re out the front of the Hotel wanting to go the other way. If you re game, a motorcycle taxi is alot fun and actually very safe. When you come to realise that four people sitting calmly on a motorbike (one of them being a baby wedged in somewhere) is the norm in Thailand, being one of only two people on a bike is nothing. 40BHT per person out to the Bridge. As always prices are negotiable. The Tiger Temple is a must if you re into the idea of patting one and having your photo taken with one. If you do go, make sure you are there in the afternoon after 2.30pm. It s too hot for them earlier than this and they are very inactive. After 3-ish they are alot more active. Also, Erawan Falls is must-do. The track up near the top of the Falls takes you through water so you need footwear that can get wet or you won t get to the top. Also be aware that it takes a couple of hours to get to the top, longer if you stop for a while at each of the seven levels. You need to give yourself time to get up so you can get back down. Last bus leaves at 4.30. There s plenty of food at the entrance to the park. Buses leave the Bus terminal in Kanchanaburi every fifty minutes. It s a long way out - about 90mins on the bus. We hired a sawngtaew to drive us out (60mins). The driver was happy to wait for us once we got out there to then drive us back to kanchanaburi. We were there for nearly four hours! We negotiated 700BHT, but paid him 800."
F. stayed at River Kwai Hotel on 2006-12-14 and said, "Nice hotel, centrally located. Rooms are clean and well worth the money paid.Bathroom clean. Cleaning services okay.Swimming pool okay, surroundings could be a bit better. Friendly staff.Make sure you get a room at the back, because the disco and the Cowboy Beer Bar produce a lot of noise till 01.00 am as written before.Safety box at cashier, 24 hrs.Breakfast excellent."
Dr. stayed at River Kwai Hotel on 2006-10-17 and said, "Confortable hotel with a small but very nice Cafe at Lobby for a quick coffee and Internet. Good breakfast. Reasonable price hotel. Located at the centre of the town, tourist bars and restaurants little far away but the best (I think) hotel in the town."
Dr.Norbert stayed at River Kwai Hotel on 2006-08-12 and said, "In general it was a nice hotel with all comfort. The view out of our window was bad, because we looked in a dark backyard."
Bruce stayed at River Kwai Hotel on 2006-04-23 and said, "The hotel was central the facilities were good including the price. We considered the hotel suited our requirements for access to the River KwaiEnglish speaking staff is the only problem with the hotel as it can be difficult to communicate with staff at times."
Sheree stayed at River Kwai Hotel on 2006-01-02 and said, "Lovely, lovely staff. The service was excellent. Location is great - right in the middle of town. Pool area is very nice. Food at the hotel is fine but down on the river try Jukkru - absolutely delicious food. The nearby discos are quite loud - ask for a room away from them."
Terrance stayed at River Kwai Hotel on 2005-11-28 and said, "Fine hotel, clean, maybe best in town, easy to walk around town from and to find again. All staff were very kind & helpful. Food good. Nice pool but it closed at or before 6:00 - disappointing...just when I got back from my outings. I would stay again."
