Olle stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2008-05-30 and said, "Excellent hotel, friendly staff, beautiful surroundings with the river kvai bridge within sight distance. Nice pool, rooms and facilities. It´s a good idea a rent a motorbike to be able to get access to the town. Free wireless internet in the lobby. I will recommend this hotel to everyone."
Erik stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2008-05-02 and said, "Good location and very friendly staff. Swimming pool is fantastic. The food is also good, although at breakfast it was too crowded one morning because of a group tour staying at the hotel. The hotel is clearly showing its age, it could benefit from a (small) renovation."
Sasindran stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2008-04-12 and said, "Nice resort. Very well laid out. We enjoyed our stay very much. The staff were very friendly and efficient."
Ross stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2008-03-22 and said, "Nice hotel with beautiful pool and walking distance to The Bridge. Not close to town. Food was good and rooms comfortable and nicely appointed."
MASSIMO stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2008-03-15 and said, "Very nice place for spending a weekend. Great resort. Clean and peaceful. I ll go back there soon."
Britt stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2008-03-03 and said, "We had booked three delux river view rooms, for five adults and three children. Our rooms were clean and well equipped and had a fantastic view of the River Kwai. The children just loved playing in the big pool and feeding the fish in the small canals. The big garden was beautiful. The staff was very helpful and the food in the restaurants was very good. Consequently, we were very statisfied with our stay at this hotel. During our three day stay in Kanchanaburi we visited the Tiger Temple, the floating markets and the Erawan Waterfalls. We also took a ride on the Death Railway and visited an elephant camp where we could bath with the elephants in the river. A travel agency, Good Times Travel, had organized these tours including transfer to and from Bangkok. We can really recommed this travel agency."
lapouza stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2008-02-16 and said, "Very good hotel . Room, swiming pool and garden are beautiful . The staff is very nice . The site offer a very good view . Good restaurantI recommend this hotel"
Mr. stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2008-02-13 and said, "Super location, with grounds and pools to match... More staff need to speak English.. Went through 4 different personnel to get a room service order taken. Rooms need updating. Bland Entrance/Reception Area. Tours booking at Hotel expensive."
Margaret stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2008-01-28 and said, "Very pleasant resort, right on the Kwai river, and close to the railway bridge. The resort consists of several 3 storey buildings linked by walkways, all surrounding a pool and garden area. Room was clean, and well supplied with slippers and robes etc. Bathroom showed some wear, and the shower curtain needed changing, but overall very tidy and acceptable. Restaurant has a large menu, but I always think it best to go for food the chef may be most familiar with, and the Thai food was good. Breakfast buffet had a good choice, and great omelets made to order. Overall a good place to stay."
Brian stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2008-01-22 and said, "Very pleasant, superbly located resort hotel right next to the River Kwai bridge. Very peaceful setting due to its situation c. 6 kilometres outside Kanchanaburi. Staff are helpful and the whole complex is well managed and maintained.I would personally say that it is worth spending the extra money to take a deluxe river view room in Block H as the views -particularly at sunset - are well worth the premium."
Herve stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2007-12-25 and said, "Tres bon hotel au bord de la riviere, belles piscines, excellent service mais eviter les restaurants (sauf petit dejeuner)"
Toh stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2007-11-29 and said, "looks like the hotel room decor needs a renovation soon ? Otherwise clean conditions still prevailing. Service very good. The River Kwai dinner buffet and Sound & Fireworks show very good ! I enjoyed my stay."
Pam stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2007-07-28 and said, "We stayed here for 6 nights and enjoyed every one of them. Staff were friendly and courteous. We had a superior garden view room which was fantastic. Would probably pay the extra few dollars for a river view next time but have no complaints with what we had. We thought the hotel van was expensive at 180bht to take you across the river (that s if there are only 2 of you)therefore we walked across the bridge each day - daunting if you are afraid of heights but I did it anyway! We found the meals at the resort great and reasonably priced and didn t have any great wish to visit the bars and restaurants on the otherside of an evening. There s plenty to do at the resort and I guess anything equivalent would cost about 8 times more in Australia and you d only find a similar resort around the Gold Coast region. Will stay at the Felix again!!!"
HERVE stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2007-07-19 and said, "Cadre agréable (près de la rivière) et services de très bonne qualité. Deux belles piscines. Nécessite de préférence un moyen de transport individuel."
Gareth stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2007-07-14 and said, "Hotel was comfortable, clean and very peacefull. (except for some of the high speed boats on the river)Rooms were big and clean with nice bathrooms. Easy walk over the River Kwai on the original steel bridge"
Justin stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2007-06-08 and said, "Tacky and too busy , the Felix is attempting to be European, much to it s detrement. The hotel rooms are large, but seem unfinished, for example, missing grout in the bathrooms. The views of the river are excellent, despite the passing party boats. The restaurant is well staffed with very helpful and polite employees. Would also recommend the restaurants food. The pool area was a bit unkept and tired looking. Also, a little hard to navigate around the resort grounds due to the use of bridges and carp pool throughout the resort. Location was convenient, with a 10 minute walk to Kanchanaburi and it s restaurants (just don t eat at the Jolly Frog-you ll regret it the next day!)Would rate it 8 out of 10, due to the excellent food, customer service and proximity to town."
Julia stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2007-05-17 and said, "We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Were initially very disapointed as the main pool was closed for renovations, and we love to swim. Luckily there is a second pool at the resort so our resentment was short lived. Location is great, loved our daily walks over the bridge. Breakfasts were good and the rooms were clean and spacious. Would absolutely stay here again."
R.Strachan stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2007-05-16 and said, "Beautiful Hotel situated on Kwai River. Spacious grounds.Lovely deluxe room overlooking River. Food and services excellent.Large pool being under maintenance. Beautiful gardens. Pleasant play room with Karaoke, pool, darts and Bar. Only 10-15min walk to Bridge.Would recommend"
John stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2007-04-17 and said, "We booked 2 connecting garden view rooms for us & our children of 5 & 7. The rooms were very big. We had a king size bed and our children had 2 double beds. The hotel pool was huge and had games (basketball) you could play in it. There is also a childrens playground in the grounds. The grounds are big and are nice to wander around. We all thought it was a nice hotel and very good value. It s about a 5 minute walk to the bridge which you cross to get into Kanchanaburi. There s a nice floating restaurant just the other side of the bridge. We stayed for 3 nights and could easily have stayed for longer. There s plenty to do around Kanchanaburi. We would all stay in this hotel again."
Stephen stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2007-04-05 and said, "Nice, well appointed resort. We stayed in a riverside room, which was also well equipped and clean, with a nice verandah, and enjoyed our stay. Staff were friendly and helpful. The only gripe we had with our stay was the inexplicably dire quality of the Thai dinner offerings - high prices for seafood dishes with 2 prawns and a single sliver of squid in them (poorly cooked) and stale fish were two of the dishes we sampled... literally. Perversely the European dishes were good, comparitively excellent in fact.We would, and perhaps will, stay again but avoid the Thai dishes - or perhaps chef was on holiday whilst we were there."
Kate stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2007-03-02 and said, "The Felix was a good standard hotel in a great location right by the Bridge over the River Kwai. We had a deluxe river view room which was nice and spacious although the river view for our block was not from the balcony but from outside the front door to the room. The grounds of the hotel are well kept and it has a very good sized swimming pool. The hotel restaurant is pretty uninspiring both in terms of atmosphere and the food. There is a fun pub and lounge bar but it seems, as you would expect, no one really hands around the hotel in the evening. As well as the lack of atmosphere you will also end up paying hotel prices for everything which is at least twice as much as that in the town. you do need to go across to the other side of the bridge for the nightlife. You can easily do this by either going by foot, it takes about 10 minutes, pay 200 baht for the hotel taxi (it will cost 150baht to come back by a taxi in the town) or rent a moped and do the journey yourself. Even including the taxi fare you will spend less money in town on dinner and drinks for the whole night than you would in the hotel, and have a much better time. Just ask the taxi driver to drop you at 7 eleven or the Jolly Frog and you are in the middle of the main road of activity."
Mr/Mrs stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2007-02-13 and said, "Beautiful grounds and swimming pool area. Rooms are adequate. Bathrooms can use an updating, as can the dining room. Fun experience."
Allan stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2006-12-16 and said, "Felix was terrific. We were upgraded to a suite which was roomy and well appointed.Breakfasts and restaurants were great. The place was nearly in empty mid- December and weather was pleasant.Tours are better booked from town - very expensive from the hotel."
Giselle stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2006-08-22 and said, "Beautiful pool and gardens, huge resort. Recommend staying in River View room as the River Kwai is right on your doorstep. Taxi (from Bangkok 1600 Baht + tip took 2 hours) had a hard time finding the place due to narrow streets between main road and River. Felt a little isolated (good & bad) due to location. Good if you want to be away from everything and relax. Not so good if you want to wander around and come and go when you like - 180 Baht for Taxi to town. We found that you can walk to and from town by going over the Bridge Over River Kwai (no good at night though). Will definitely go back as we haven t explored all that Kanchanaburi has to offer - visit the Tourist Authority of Thailand (TAT) near bus terminal - very helpful, good info. 1st class A/C Bus back to Bangkok was 106 Baht per person and took 2 hours."
Englishman stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2006-08-08 and said, "In the numerous visits I have made to Thailand I have never stayed in such an awful hotel. The reception staff were unhelpful and unfriendly. The only contact I had with breakfast staff was on the first morning... sit where you like..help yourself to everything (including coffee) . then they all went back their huddle and continued chatting .... The food itself was very poor (for a Thai hotel) little choice, no yoghurt, choice of one juice, one type of fruit...there was supposed to be an omlette chef but I never saw him We had a deluxe river view room..and yes it was very tranquil apart from a convention of Japaneze business men who insisted on making a noise, the room itself had most facilities you would expect except for the smell of damp! It was a relatively small room with a poor choice of TV programmes and poor reception. The hotel itself is on the opposite side of the river to any life, the nearest other bar on this side of the river is miles away. It is a series of low rise buildings interspersed with huge rooms with nothing in them..it reminded me of the hotel in the film The Shining. A truly souless hotel. The entertainment consisted of a Thai duo performing cover versions of The Carpenters and John Denver. There was a bar called the Fun Pub clearly not living up to its name, I never saw anyone in it..perhaps it was the cost of playing pool..150bt? maybe thats why the table looks new? Internet 100bt for half an hour. Transport into town 180bht pp. The only life is on the other side of the river over the Kwai Bridge, the management request guests do not cross the bridge after dark (I don t suppose that could be anything to do with the monopoly they have on overpriced beer and transport could it??? I asked some locals who said it was perfectly safe to cross the bridge whenever...and so thats what we did. Cross the bridge and get a taxi (always waiting) to the Night Bazaar (30bt) or the strip where all the bars are (20bt). Thats where the life is..good places to eat ..Apples, Fine and the best of all The Jolly Frog, this place is the complete package for travellers. Good places to drink..the No Name bar..recently taken over by Aussie Jeff. A good bloke...you want anything he will do his best to get it for you he will also arrange transport. The hotels rip you off by organising trips adding on their cut and then they call a guide called Wussip (pron vussip. He is an English speaking Thai who is a friend of Jeffs, he was a policeman and so knows all the laws and can/can t dos. He also runs the local motor bike hire and will take tourists on long trips in his enormous brand new Isuzu four track six seater.(he took me to Hua Hin) he is fair and honest. As for the hotel...I would avoid it like the plague!!"
Lars stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2006-07-13 and said, "The swimmingpool really is amazing! Hotel location is great - just a few hundred meters from River Kwai bridge. Rooms are great but not as clean as seen on other hotels in this price range. The staff is very friendly and you get a very good service."
Mr stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2006-05-22 and said, "We arrived 2 days earlier and there was no problem getting a room. The hotel entrance, lobby and surroundings are opulent. The staff service on the surface is great but a little over attentive. It was so quiet when we where there - very few guests but the suited us. The River Kwai death railway bridge and Jeath War museum are a 10 minute walk away.We had a problem with rooms in regard of smoking. We wanted to and it seemed a big hassle for them to organise it, we ended up staying in a superior room, not the deluxe as reserved and they didn t refund the difference. The hotel cabaret singers, bobby and george (I think), are plain awful. Nice hotel in general - looks 5 star, feels 3 star."
Lorraine stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2006-04-07 and said, "This is an awesome hotel, very large, beautiful grounds, great breakfast, beautiful clean room, and friendly service. The restaurant is expensive compared to places in town, but the food is good. You can walk over the Bridge over the River Kwai in the day but have to get a taxi if it s after dark. We plan to return and stay here again."
Adolf stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2006-02-16 and said, "A very nice hotel. We can recommend it to everybody. The only problem we had were the shuttle and Taxi Service, the prices are to high and differ a lot."
Michael stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2006-01-24 and said, "We got a great price for River View Rooms for 2 nights. The rooms, pool and grounds were great,as were the choices of places in the hotel to eat. the set menu in the Chinese was fantastic value and one of great meals of our holiday.the Bridge was only a few moments walk and you could walk over it with near direct access from the hotel.Staff & Tour counter were most helpful. We enjoyed it so much that we will be staying a week in 2007."
na`ama stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2005-10-03 and said, "very large room, beautiful pool and gardens, tasty breakfast - a great experience! also within walking distance from the city center. we and our girls had a wonderful time."
Yang stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2005-09-04 and said, "Great hotel, beautiful landscape, well-equipped with nice pool, gym, tennis courts, etc. The room was large with huge bathrooms. Breakfast not great, but overall wonderful experience. It s a 10 minute walk from the famous Bridge, but making your way back on foot in the dark (which i did) can be pretty daunting unless you take a taxi back. The nearest restaurants are on the other side of River Kwai, nearer to the backpackers inns."
John stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2005-08-22 and said, "very pleasant place to stay, off peak so there was a great staff to guest ratio. The resident live music was particularly good, they could play anything - well! It was not new but that added to the charm. Service was efficient, the tour operator in the foyer made everything easy with good prices and personal service. The resort was across the river from the main township so crossing the bridge over the River Kwai added a uniqueness to a simple trip. lots of fun to be had on and by the river with great eating places close by. Highly recommended."
Graham stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2005-06-06 and said, "What a fantastic Resort!!! The Staff are friendly and willing to help, whatever the problem. The facilities are great, especially the Sai Yok swimming pool. The restaurant is good and value for money. The rooms are ample and nicely decorated. It only takes two minutes to walk to the famous Bridge on the River Kwae, and you don t have to leave the resort grounds to get there!!! Some say it is slightly more expensive to stay there than others, my advice is pay it, it is well worth it!!! I will definately be staying there again when I visit Thailand again."
Robert stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2005-02-13 and said, "Well located, on the banks of the river Kwai, within easy walking distance to the famous bridge. Spacious rooms with large bathroom. Neat clean and tidy. Very good swimming pool. Excellent choice for breakfast. Friendly and efficient staff. The only minor complaint I had was the high cost of using their transport service. Highly recommended."
Beny stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2004-11-30 and said, "we meet a beautifull Hotel resort with helpfull staff. show. Gala dinner and light and sound show excellent. If the begin of show will be better signed the dinner could be able take slower.I come again!"
Mr. stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2004-10-07 and said, "Most impressed with this hotel. Although slightly more than some others in the area still great value for money. Staff were superb and the food, room, pools and setting were all that I could wish for. Will definately be returning next year."
Ms.Alienor stayed at Felix River Kwai on 2004-09-19 and said, "Really nice hotel, beautiful gradens and pool. Close to River Kwae, with a walk way to get there. Only maybe a bit far from town center to go out for dinner at night. (need a car/taxi) and its not easy to get uness you get the hotel one. In any case, i recommend Kanchanaburi. The tours (erawan falls etc..) are awsome!"
