Claire said, "Lovely grand hotel in a great location. The swimming pool is a nice addition, especially in the Bangkok heat!"
Rebekah said, "Hotel was nice! Room was pretty average, the beds were hard! But it was still good! good budget hotel! :)"
Tracey said, "Great location as close to Kohsan Rd. The staff were lovely and the pool was great! Accommodation was nice and clean to. Thanks!"
Gretchen said, "This hotel was OK. Not great, but not bad. It didn t have much character. It is only one block from the backpackers street and it is very loud. Lot s of clubs and action. BUT, it is close to the Grand Palace if you don t mind a bit of a walk. Even with all the activity, we felt safe. Breakfast buffet was nice."
Miss said, "Absolutely fine, for a stop over in crazy non stop city like Bangkok! Great location and the swimming pool was an added bonus!"
Larz said, "Surprisingly nice and quiet hotel in a bustling area. Well-kept pool area, high class restaurant. Budget refers to price more than service, accommodation and facilities. Sorted out misunderstanding swift and generously. Certainly good value for your money. My first choice in the future."
Nicole said, "The main benefit of this hotel is the central location. Our deluxe-room was okay so far, but seemed to us rather basic. There was a strange smell in our room and our bed-sheets were dirty on our arrival. The personal on the reception was uninterested and arrogant. Fortunately, we so it was quite calm. The breakfast buffet was good and offered a wide choice. The taxi-service of the hotel demanded 700 B for the transfer to the airport, which was twice as much as we actually paid in a metered taxi."
Fiona said, "Nice hotel, clean and cheap. Good location for those wanting to stay near Khao San Rd. Would definitely recommend to others."
Rachel said, "The Viengtai was recommended by travelers as a nice place for a start in Bangkok. I had two separate resrevations, because we had a tour in between, and on our next visit to BKK we ll definitely stay only there. It is a quiet place in the middle of the hectic and always changing Khao San area. Though their website says that Rambuttri street is two streets off the Khao San, there wasn t so much difference, it isn t a really quiet street. But we took a backside room which was completely quiet, the sixth floor which is No Smoking and larger rooms. The hotel is very comfortable, perfectly clean, helpful staff. I liked the cool stone floor in the room, which suits the Bangkok weather. The breakfast restaurant has specially nice light colors and not the huge hall that I had in other hotels. The hotel is airy and spacious but not imposing, and small enough that they probably don t get groups, that s a definite advantage for people who don t like to be a part of the crowd. It s very convenient and close-by for tourist attractions, we returned to the area for sights after our Viengtai stay was over, so we really should have Khao San area is really fun even though it s not the classic Thai culture, and it didn t bother us at all that most of people there were the age of our grandchildren. It s true that the BTS Skytrain isn t there but there are plenty of cheap taxis - on the street, not the taxi station at the hotel front. You get right to the entrance of where you want to visit, don t have to go up and down 2-3 stories of stairs at the stations."
Lena said, "We enjoyed our stay at the Viengtai hotel because of the excellent location in downtown Bangkok. Great area for young travellers. Good service."
Thomas said, "perfekt läge ligger mitt i smeten ett kvarter från kao san road.Promenadavstånd till flodbåtar och Grand Palace . Enkelt men bra hotell , är man i Bangkok är man inte så mycket på rummet :-)"
Gudrun said, "Good location but the noise from the street was way too much. At first we thought our window was open, but it wasn t just not so much sound proved!!Good breakfast and helpful staff."
Niels said, "Good value for money, best location, friendly and good service, clean rooms and a decent breakfast."
Ravera said, "Close to main tourist attractions. Has a conveniently refreshing swimming pool. Quality of the bedrooms can vary wildly, eg as regards cleanliness. Breakfast closing time is a bit early (9h30). But staff is efficient and welcoming. I would definitely recommend it."
Nancy said, "horrible stay, would not recommend. Perhaps they have half the rooms renovated, but ours was not. The room was old and small, the bathroom musty, the furnishings weren t really clean, including the sheets, the bed was old, stained and hard as plywood, the carpet was old, and probably hasn t been vacuumed in a while, the fridge didn t work. 3 days in this hotel was too long. The front lobby looked good and the buffet american breakfast was okay. The only good part was the location, walkable to the Grand Palace and Emerald Buddha, next to Khao San Road and lots of street vendors for shopping. No internet, laundry was expensive, can get it down the road for cheaper. The room key required 500B deposit, and another 500B desposit for a safety deposit box at the front desk. Metered taxi was about 400B on the way in, and 450B on the way out."
Christoph said, "Centrally located hotel. Great for Khao San Road. Easy to get everywhere from here. Hotel big and clean. Unfortunately the maids start cleaning rooms at 5.30 - 6am and aren t quiet about it."
Lesley said, "Rather an unusual smell prevailing in the downstairs reception and slightly put off when sitting by the pool and 3 people arrived wearing masks and spraying something - they didn t give us a mask! Booked a smoking room only to be told on arrival they didn t do them in Bangkok (managed one the night before..)Room was comfy and didn t get bitten but was not offered any refreshments before departing to the airport at 4.30 am. Altogether, I got what I paid for."
Mr. said, "Great Hotel. This was the 3rd time I ve I will return again if I m ever back in Bangkok. It s no Banyan Tree or Oriental, but it doesn t pretend to be. It is a basic, cheap, clean hotel with a nice swimming pool. The rooms are a decent size, breakfast is fine and the staff are helpful and friendly. The location is perfect, one street from Ko San rd but nowhere near as loud or frenetic. The only thing that I can fault it on is the air-con was really loud, so pack ear-plugs. The hotel is perfect for acclimatising to Thai time before flying down to the islands, and I will be back."
Simon said, "Excellent service, excelent rooms, overall everything you could possibly need for the perfect stay in Bangkok. The location is second to none and the hotel is in great condition. The pool is clean and the air con is extremely good."
Kux said, "Very good location. the rooms was a little old but very clean. Wery good breakfest."
Priscilla said, "Excellent stay as always. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms comfortable and excellent breakfast. This was my fifth stay and I will be back on my next trip."
Ernest said, " two 17 year old grand daughters for 7 days with a break of 3 in middle to visit country area.ROOMS Clean and adequateRECEPTION Courteous and helpfull even in the middle of nightMAINTENANCE Noticed flashing red light in ceiling fire alarm . Called reception and within one minute four employers arrived.TOUR OFFICE Very helpfullBREAKFAST Anyone that complains has a problemLOCATION Shopping/eating/drinking -This Khao San Road area has everything for young and old.It is the place to stay. Will be returning to Bangkok in near future and will stay at the Viengtai."
KAYNA said, "Ok rooms, clean, outdated, pool was nice. Front reception was a bit abrupt upon checking in but porters were freindly. probobly the best you could do in the kao sarn area as all are cheap anyway."
Roman said, "Hotel was good, well located...smelt a little inside the hotel and in the room however I think this is something that goes for the entire city of Bangkok. Had one small incident where the cleaners didn t read the DO NOT DISTURB sign on the door and attempted to enter my room on several occasions one morning with the chain on the door being my saviour. Well located right next to Khao San Road too..."
Tracey said, "Great location if you want to be in Khao San Rd area. Good friendly service. Always a reliable choice in Bangkok. Will be back again"
Gillian said, "this is a great hotel, great services, great breakfast, clean rooms and helpful staff. THe complimentry breakfast had so many choices. THe staff tried so hard to please you."
Stina said, "We were very satisfied. We had a room towards the pool and were´nt disturbed at night. The pool was nice although there was no sun at it. Big and clean rooms and a big bathroom. Big breakfast but no yogurt. The location at Khaosan road area was great."
Inna said, "I believe it s most clean and organized place in area named Kahosan Road . Tipical 3 stars hotel without any extra points. The bed linens were clean, air conditioner worked..."
Kasper said, "Very nice hotel, polite staff, good luggage storage and taxi booking service.A good choice, if you want to stay in the lively Banglamphu area, and yet would like to spend a little more than the average budget choice in the area to ensure that you have your own bathroom with warm water, a good bed, clean rooms and everything in order.Breakfast buffet is good, although you really don´t need it, as you just have to take one step outside the hotel to encounter multiple choices of excellent thai breakfast served from the numerous street kitchens (less than 100 Baht for a good meal incl. water and fresh orange juice). We would like to stay here again when we return to Bangkok with our children."
Beer said, "rooms were dirty, bathroom dirty and full of mold. breakfast very poor.not recommended when there are a lot of good guesthouses who give better prices and better rooms."
Andrew said, "I ve relatively cheap. But the best part is the location. Located on the street adjacent to Koh San Road (a great street for shopping and going out). Thank you for another great stay Viengtai."
Shlomo said, "The hotel has really nice loby and breakfast but the rooms are way to old to charge you the price they charge. The shower s ceiling is too low."
Annette said, "very friendly staff, delicious breakfast, rooms very clean and comfortable,we enjoyed our stay there and can really recommend this hotel"
Alex said, "The hotel is ideally situated. Walking distance to river to catch boats, near to (but not as noisy as) Khao San Road. 15 mins walk or brief taxi to Grand Palace, Wat Pho etc. Staff are efficient and speak English. Breakfast is adequate but not the best. Safety deposit room behind reception, luggage store for several days if you re going away and returning. 500 THB deposit for room key is required, but is refunded. Taxi booking service to eg airport based in Reception. Air con in rooms worked well. Lighting in bathroom is poor and tiling a little tired, but overall very good value for money for a centrally located hotel."
Heang said, "Great hotel awesome breakfast will definitely go back there as the markets are only a few min walk. Just have to be careful of your belongings in the street and to bargain well with street vendors."
Susanne said, "Perfect location almost at Kho San Road. Big rooms. Almost no noise. Good Breakfast. Perfect start for your Thailand stay. I will def come back again"
Inbar said, "Very nice hotel. Vey friendly staff who speak English and are very helpful. It s a shame that they gave us a room with a window that we are not allowed to open ( do not open sticker on window) and we payed for the deluxe room. There are better hotels for what we payed but we needed that specific location. Wouldn t go there again."
Shmulik said, "Nice hotel. Very goog location, 3 minutes walking from the Kaho-son road, so it supplies a quiet place not far from the noisy center. We took 2 rooms - double and triple beds. The rooms are comfortable and clean.Breakfast is rich and good, and offer thai and western food, however the hotel does not have a service of sandwiches for customers who leave the hotel before breakfast."
Bogdan said, "Located on the next street to Khao San road, walking distance to the Royal Palace. Very good value for money. Room was nice and clean, except for some mold in bathroom. Would recommend it to anyone who wants to stay in this area of the city."
Shona said, "We enjoyed our stay at the Viengtai hotel very much. The rooms are clean and tidy and the breakfast was buffet style and plentiful."
Mr said, "Fantastic hotel, amazing, friendly, helpful staff. Right in the heart of Bangkok. Excellent location. Highly recommeded, we cant wait to go back."
Marianne said, "A very nice hotel with good and clean rooms. The staff very kind and helpsome. If we one day will come back to Bangkok of course we will stay at Viengtai Hotel again."
Josep said, "We spent 6 nights and our overall impression was good. Good buffet breakfast, good location and friendly service. The bads: Not that clean room. Taxi service in front of hotel doesn´t want to use meter. Their price to airport: 500B, though bargaining we got it for 400B.for laundry just cross the road and enter the small alley that goes to kaosan rd to find a lot of shops offering this service."
Emer said, "This hotel is average but good value for the price. Don t expect much but it was clean and in a good location."
Marise said, "Nice hotel, very convinient location."
Yossi said, "Nice hotel, good location, good value to money. We left Bangkok with an evening flight and there was no problem (and no extra charge) to approve late check-out. Breakfast was good with a large variety of Thai and western food."
Stephen said, "This was the 5th time I have honest. Sure some of the features of the hotel are dated but it is clean and the breakfast is plentiful and offers a wide variety to choose from. The location can t be beat if you want to be close to the action of the Khaosan Rd area and still have the comforts of other than a guest house.... Take taxi s from the end of the street (70 mtrs) or those dropping off others as the in-house taxi will cost you much more for the same trip...Pleanty of bars and places to eat close by and lots of street sellers for clothes and food in the nearby streets.....only a 50 to 60 Baht taxi to the MBK shopping centre in the heart of Bangkok.... ferry station about a 5 min walk away...I will be going back! hope you enjoy!Booking through Sawadee.com will save you money compared to going direct to the hotel."
Yaron said, "Nice, a bit old, hotel, close to the kausan street, across Bet Habad. We booked 2 rooms which were basic with an old karpet but clean. The breakfast was excellent. I recommend this hotel."
Petra said, "Cheap hotel if you don´t want to spent a lot of money but the beds are horribel and it´s very noisy. Breakfast was awfull. On the streets you have a good entertainmet and you can make sightseing by feet."
