Jelonek stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2008-07-08 and said, "Hotel almost perfect in this area. A little bit far away from Khao San and Old City but no more than 15 minutes by walk. Clean new rooms. If You need double choose rather deluxe one- superior might be little to small. One problem for people with large luggage- no lifts..."
Jelonek stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2008-07-05 and said, "Yes, yes, yes... I visit Bangkok two-three times a year and try still to stay somewhere in the Old district. Swana is really perfect. Friendly staff, clean and fresh looking rooms, satisfactory breakfast and the location is good enough to walk by foot to Khao San whithin 5 minutes. If you can take the deluxe room-superior seemed for me little too small. Choose also from backside-these with windows ovelooking the courtyard are quite noisy. Only minus- there is no lift. Thing twice before you choose the 4th floor...but of course the staff will help you with even extremely heavy luggage...Anyway best western is best in the Banglamphu area"
T stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2008-06-06 and said, "A great hotel for the area. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Rooms are clean, breakfast is plentiful and the food in the cafe is excellent."
Valeria stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2008-04-10 and said, "Very nice hotel, quiet place, good breakfast, friendly staff."
TAN stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2008-03-27 and said, "Nice and cosy style hotel! Staffs are friendly and helpful. Not a good location. Most of the taxi driver and tuk tuk car s driver doesn t know the location, although we shown them the hotel s address card."
Björn stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2008-03-24 and said, "The Place is nice and clean, the staff is very friendly and helpful. I can really recommend this place. Don t be disappointed on arrival. From the outside the place looks a lot less inviting than on the pictures."
Maria stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2008-03-15 and said, "cumplio con las expectativas.bien ubicado.limpio."
Maria stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2008-03-07 and said, "Absolutamente perfecto, lo que estabamos buscando. Los bungalow con vista a la pileta son los mejores. El personal impecable, la comida increible. Volvería."
Raviv stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2008-01-07 and said, "very good oneclean and comfortable room"
stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2007-11-08 and said, "The hotel itself was very clean & the room was lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful. It was about a 15mins walk to Ko Sahn Road. Don t eat dinner in the hotel. We were served frozen spring rolls. Our Main course was full of salt and we couldn t eat it."
Melanie stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2007-10-13 and said, "Very sweet and nice boutique hotel. The rooms were really nicely decorated and as we had a deluxe they were also very spacious. The breakfast was totally ok for us (choice between 3 set meals) and the staff was very helpful. It is true though that not all taxi/tuk tuk drivers knew the street but we never had a problem finding one who did. Can highly recommend the hotel."
Kevin stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2007-10-07 and said, "Few problems to start with - safe not working. They were happy to let us to change rooms. The guy working as the handyman that helps you with bags actually tried to do the dodgy gem scam on us ( My friend take you on tuk-tuk tour for 20 bhat! ) which we weren t impressed with. Also they are friends with the taxi driver who hangs around outside the hotel and he rips you off. My advice is to flag a taxi or tuk tuk (most of them are fine) that is already moving, not one of the ones thats sat outside anywhere, including your hotel. They are leeching off tourists and either try and scam you or overcharge you for everything."
Robyshev stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2007-09-13 and said, "The hotel is cheap and realy good. The problem is that it is very difficult to get to the hotel by taxi, because drivers could not find the way, even when you give them the map with hotel location. Another bad point is that reception staff offer you taxi with unreal expensive tariff, example: reception staff booked me taxi from hotel to airport for 600 baht, when the real price is 300 baht including highway collection."
J.J. stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2007-09-04 and said, "OK hotel for the price charged. Stayed at the (Deluxe) top floor. Walls are rather thin,so easy to enjoy the neighbours conversation. Was lucky to have direct neighbours for only one night. Stay away from Tuk Tuk and Taximeters in front of the hotel. They re grossly overcharging. Even encountered a doctored Taximeter, charging 50/60% more then usual. Best to walk a couple of 100 meters and stop any Taximeter passing by."
francesca stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2007-08-25 and said, "Very clean the hotel. Breakfast and service ok, it was my birthday and after my boyfrend informed them, they put flowers in our room on our arrival(for free). Position of the hotel near to kao san road (cheap shopping) and interesting monuments. Hotel area not very clean but caracteristic, a window on real bangkok life."
DIEGO stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2007-08-12 and said, "Very nice hotel. It is an oasis of calm in the middle of crowded sourroundings. The nearby is not very interesting, it is only a bit out of the tourist areas, but you can take a taxi-meter or tuk-tuk very cheap wihtout any problem. The staff is incredible, very reliable and friendly. Breakfast OK. Only negative point is that the re is not lift, but the bellboy helps to take the luggage up to the room. Good balanced price and quality."
Tammy stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2007-08-12 and said, "Rooms as described. Very comfortable. Located pretty close to Koh San Road although I would recommend a tuk tuk. The only issue we had was no elevators but then I am quite lazy. Staff always carried my bags for me so wasn t a major issue. Only thing I would recommend is carry a little map of where it is as a lot of tuk tuk drivers and taxi drivers weren t 100% sure where it was. Overall very decent hotel for the price!"
Kelly stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2007-07-28 and said, "the hotel location was not exactly where I had thought it would be - I believed it was much clsoer to Kha San Road and to the sky train. The location ie the main street was not very appealing esp to be eating at the restaurant listening to main traffic. Room was nice but tiny. Very nice people"
Yang stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2007-07-21 and said, "Stayed here twice, once before we went to Ko Samet, and after returning from Samet. For the price we paid, the hotel was amazing. Initially we were apprehensive over the quality of the breakfast as others have commented that it wasn t a buffet but we found that it was just right for two and absolutely delicious. No problems finding the hotel either from the airport or within Bangkok. Just say Swana on Wisut Kasat Road. Within walking distance to a Chao Phraya pier and just a short tuk-tuk ride to the main tourist sites (just 50B to Wat Phra Kaeo). Taxi ride to the airport was 400B. The rooms are spacious and clean. The room we got didn t have an amazing view (we got to see the neighborhood instead of the beautiful hotel courtyard). Staff were friendly and resourceful also. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an affordable luxurious place to stay in Bangkok. We ll definitely come again."
Andy stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2007-04-27 and said, "Rooms are clean, a little small though. Service is good. Location is okay, it s a bit of a trek to Khao San. Probably better of taking a tuk-tuk especially on a hot day. The only bad thing I could say was that breakfast was not very good."
Kurt stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2007-04-20 and said, "Good location, great rooms, clean, and affordable. Very friendly staff. Would definitely stay again."
zhai stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2007-02-24 and said, "The room is nice, morden.not cheap."
sofie stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2007-02-18 and said, "Average hotel. Location is not so good"
Dennis stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2007-02-04 and said, "Very happy with my stay. A clean, small and very friendly place. Location is good, close to Democracy monument and Khao San Rd. Would recommend this place and would be glad to stay again."
Richard stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2007-02-01 and said, "Stayed for four nights and found this a very clean and comfortable hotel. The rooms are very nicely decorated and it is all quite new. The hotel is a little off the beaten track and as other reviews have mentioned, some tuk tuk and taxi drivers seem to have difficulty finding it. Our trip from the airport went without a hitch however (cost 400 baht - from the public taxi rank). It is an easy walk to the Khao San Road area and also down to the river (about 10 minutes or so to either location), where the boats will take you wherever you want to go. Breakfast was in a pleasant courtyard and was quite good - more choice than in some other places was stayed. Overall good value and I would recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to stay in this part of Bangkok."
ROBERT stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2007-01-28 and said, "Our stay at Swana was very comfortable. The staff are efficient, extremely helpful and nice. The rooms are well decorated and quite. We really enjoyed our stay there."
Deborah stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2007-01-07 and said, "An attractive, clean, comfortable little hotel in a good, central location (yes, it s on a busy street - but what streets in Bangkok aren t? The rooms are off the street around a courtyard and are quiet). Good value. Good service. Would definitely stay there again."
Heleena stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2006-12-26 and said, "Nice modern room. Location ok. Hotel locates next to busy roads, but room are on the backside, so fairly quiet room."
Aaron stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2006-09-26 and said, "A very nice hotel but with no views and located in a busy area of bangkok. The breakfast menu was a bit lacking. Otherwise very clean and tidy hotel."
Alessio stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2006-08-22 and said, "clean room and very furnished, abundant breakfast without but much choice. Staff not much cordial one"
Uzi stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2006-08-19 and said, "new hotel and facilities BUT !!! 1. bad location (on a main high way)2. Very small rooms (not to compare to any similar hotel in Thailand.3. No lift !!!4. Breakfast with no buffet with very small selection of boring food (no fruits !!)big disapoitment !!!.It s not comply or meet with the Bestwestern name. I would never stay there again !!!"
Schmidt stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2006-03-31 and said, "very elegant Thai design Hotel. Very stylish. The rooms are very nice and clean. The staff is verry helpfull and friendly. The way tho Kaoh Sarn road is about 10 min walk. It´s not easy to get there by Taxi because Visut Kassat road is not very well known by taxidrivers. But I always made it to the hotel. The aerea around the hotel is verry simple .I relly enjoyed my stay"
Francisco stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2006-03-29 and said, "Cool design (minimalist Asian decor) and an oasis of calm in this bubbling city. A hotel with personality. Good value for the money, good breakfast in a beautiful patio, internet in the lobby. I enjoyed the hotel despite not being too close to the sites (tuk tuks are plenty, of course). Do not book tours from the lobby, not worth it. 8/10."
Karina stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2006-03-19 and said, "Very nice hotel, comfortable location, not far from the airport (about 30 min), close to Khao San. I ve stayed here 2 times. Rooms are modern and quiet, staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel is situated in a 4 floor building, but there is no elevator. The only thing I didn t like is the breakfast."
Wei stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2006-02-24 and said, "excellent hotel with clean rooms ,staff were very friendly."
Ingo stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2006-02-22 and said, "This hotel has an awesome homepage with probably the best photographed pictures at all. Respect! Though the rooms really look not too bad there are some things one should be aware of.First the hotel tried to give us a Standard Room though we booked a Deluxe Room. This seems to be normal behaviour as other travellers reported this, too. After complaining about this we got a nice room on the fourth floor. I can t complain about the room except for the shower which only supported very hot and very cold water. The American Breakfast consisted of two toasts, coffee or tea, orange jam, butter, scrambled eggs, saussage, bacon and a terrible orange juice. If the hotel would offer additional yoghurt, cornflakes or so it would be ok but that s all they had.One has to keep in mind that the area of the hotel is not known by local taxi drivers and there are no Skytrain or metro stations in the near surroundings. Even thoug the hotel has a map in Thai we had no luck with 5 taxi drivers as they neither could read nor find the told road at first shot. Getting to the hotel was always a problem and lots of taxi drivers even refused to drive us there."
Z stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2006-02-20 and said, "This hotel is not known to many of the taxi drivers. Or they pretend not to know it. We had tried to arrange pick-up with Swana via sawadee.com, but that didn t work out. So, we decided to take a taxi from the airport, from an outfit named Travel East Company Limited. They charged us Baht 700 for the ride, which would have been okay had it not been for the obnoxious driver we had. He actually laughed at us when we told him where we wanted to go: Swana Bangkok Hotel, 332 Visuti Kasat, and kept on laughing and snickering until the sign for the hotel appeared in front of us. To add insult to injury, he made no move to return to us the change from the Baht 100 we had given him to pay the highway tolls (Baht 40 + Baht 30), and we were too glad to get rid of him to spend anymore time interacting with him.Our advice: beware! Take along a good map with the hotel marked on it on the plane into Bangkok. We ve travelled a lot, in places like NYC and DC, and never have we had such an unpleasant experience in a taxi. The hotel itself is nice. It is still very new (less than a year old at the time of our visit) and it remains to be seen how the upkeep will be. We noticed a few signs of wear, hopefully the management will keep on top of them. The room we had was small, but perfect for us. It overlooked the courtyard inside which was nice. The breakfast that was included in the room rate was okay, but just barely. My husband got the congee, and I opted for the American breakfast. I didn t want eggs or the meats, so I asked for only the toast, hoping that they would give me an extra serving. They didn t. I didn t expect them to, but I felt it would have been a nice gesture if they had.We didn t like the fact that our room door didn t have a security chain, a deadbolt or some other physical locking device on the inside. The layout of the place is quite open, and one can enter the sections with the rooms without going through the reception area, and we found that somewhat unsafe. We also didn t like that fact that the room keys were displayed in a glass case at the reception. We could easily have walked in from the street, glanced at the keys, and asked for one not belonging to us. Based on our interaction with the staff, we didn t get the feeling that they knew all the guests by sight. The staff was okay. They definitely did not go out of their way to help us. At one point, I asked for a copy of the Bangkok phone book. There were two people staffing the reception desk, and they both looked down behind the counter at one spot, looked up and said that they didn t have such a thing. My husband and I felt that they were not being completely honest. Upon seeing our astonished faces, they offered to ask directory assistance for us, which they did, and which took about three minutes for one number. I had a few places I wanted to look up, but I abandoned the idea after the first one. We just were not impressed. On check-out, they claimed that we had taken soft drinks from the minibar. We had not, and it took a little bit of going back and forth before we got that sorted out.Over all, I would say the place is great for the price we paid. It would take so little to make it an outstanding place (improve the service) that we hope the management addresses these issues (we will be sending our comments to them as well)."
Alex stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2006-02-17 and said, "Clean, good size rooms, modern amenities. Breakfast was a bit lacking - but served in a very nice courtyard. Would recommend - especially for the price!"
Katja stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2006-01-26 and said, "we stayed for 3 nights. the hotel is comfortable and clean. the building is new and the rooms are nicely decorated for a hotel of that class. we had some trouble to get a taxi driver to that hotel because the area does not seem to be known very well. walk to Khao San is about 15 minutes, walk to Dusit Park about 30 minutes."
JJ stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2005-12-30 and said, "Nice, clean hotel. Very difficult to communicate, most of service does not speak English. Location: far from the centrum, the entrance next to very noisy sky highway. You face everyday hasle of catching tuk-tuk or taxi. If you walk watch for dogs, they bite with no reason. The neighourhood very poor and dirty. I will not come back to this hotel.Watch the lundry service as well, they charge an arm and leg!!!!!!!!!!"
Lawrence stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2005-12-29 and said, "This hotel is a mini version of the 5 star Metropolitan Hotel, i.e. modern thai style. In view of the price, it is a good hotel although the neighbourhood of this area is a very local area. Location close to Kaoshan, thus very good for night life. Breakfast not a buffet type, but good. From Siam Centre to the hotel, taxi price about 60B."
Ostrowski stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2005-12-15 and said, "Very good choice.Hotel just new, very good lokated. It was my best choice during travel all over Thailand. The worst choice- Pipi natural resort-never try this hotel, and be careful about looking hotels in local agencies. The best idea its internet choice."
Brent stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2005-12-13 and said, "nice hotel nice staff paid for a delux room, think i got a standard, although it was still very nice, floor could have done with a good clean, food good, breakfast good,10 minutes walk from main river ferries."
Birte stayed at Best Western Swana Bangkok Hotel on 2005-12-01 and said, "Nice, modern hotel for reasonable price. Very comfortable rooms. Only five minutes walk to Kaosan Road, three minutes walk to expressboat pier.Poor breakfast - no buffet."
