M said, "Very good luxury hotel in a good central location in Bangkok, very close to shopping, nightlife. Very nice room, as to be expected from 5-star hotel, with great views over the city. Exemplary service by staff and great buffet breakfast! Good value for money; will stay here again."
Michiel said, "Very nice hotel, convenient location, beautiful decor, impeccable service.Pool is rather disappointing. The best beds in Town!"
leigh said, "great stay great hotel and staff service on club floors excellent,"
Patricia said, "Sofitel is a wonderful hotel. Above-average room, above-average breakfast included, walking distance to Patpong, restaurants, river taxi and massages. Good housekeeping service. Very comfortable bed. Only downside is a tiny pool."
Jörgen said, "This hotel does not measure up to the standards of a 5 star hotel. Examples:-The door to the bathroom in the room can only be closed from the outside (!?!)and a lock doesn´t exist at all.-The pool is on the 5:th floor. The sunbeds (aprox. 8 of them)are situated under a part of the building which covers them with shade all day long.-The staff in the gym are mainly interested in watching tennis on tv. They get bothered by the clients.-You can´t visit the top-bar if You are wearing sandals. The breakfast, cleanliness, decor is very good. I´m NEVER going to stay att a Sifitel again mainly due to the posh attitude of the staff at the hotel."
Simon said, "This is a great hotel. My husband and I found the hotel to be just as good as we had remembered. The views from the rooms on the upper floors are fantastic and the hotel is close to the Sky Train and Pat Pong night markets.Would definately recommend this hotel."
J.C. said, "Great and relaxing place to stay in hectic Bangkok. Good service. You really feel welcome and at home. Very good beds, you wish you have them at home! This is not always the case in other hotels. Very good location near evening market and lots of shops."
Fam said, "Very good value for the money: perfect rooms (Standard Double Rooms) and very good service, nice little gym.The only complaint was that there was a queue to breakfast when we went rather late - perhaps due to New Years Season. But the breakfast buffé was more than excellent - it had everything!Good location, close to Sky Train, the river boats and the night market. And yet our room on 22nd floor was completely silent with marvellous view over the town and river."
ATSUSHI said, "Really nice to stay and joyful place !All staff so kindly and careful Sounds one of perfect !!but room was little bit narrow spaceand location was bit far to local transpart...."
Damien said, "The Sofitel Silom was great. The location was really good - close to the river, State Tower, Silom Square, Patpong Night Markets, Sky Train. And there are always taxis ready to take you wherever you need to go. The doorman always gives the drivers instructions, makes sure the meter is on, and gives you a slip with the taxi s details, and the hotel location in English and Thai. The hotel itself is very trendy and stylish. Everything about it (the lobby, the rooms, the restaurants, etc) was very comfortable, and the service was great. The buffet breakfasts were fantastic and the V9 restaurant and bar on level 37 (or something) was great. The gym is quite good for a hotel with top quality equipment, steam room, sauna, pool, etc. The only criticism I have is the hotel s distance from the cluster of shopping centres etc around Siam Square (MBK, Paragon, WTC etc) because we seemed to be there every day... As brilliant as the Sofitel was, we might consider staying closer to Siam Square next time."
Julie said, "Travelling with 5 teenagers made our group total of 7. Booked 3 rooms at Sofitel, 2 Deluxe & 1 Club. Deluxe rooms came with smorgasboard style good value breakfast. Club room was same in size/ style but extra furnishings, breakfast was very regimented - less choice. Recommend not to pay extra for club room. Hotel walking distance to Patpong night market, short taxi ride to many other areas. Approx 35 min taxi ride to airport. Clean rooms, good service & comfortable for all 7 of us."
Rey said, "Very impressed with this hotel. Rooms and service were top-notch. Someone was always there to give you a wai, from the entrance to the elevator doors. Breakfast was superb with good selection from western to Thai dishes. Location on Silom Road was handy for SkyTrain or a 10 min. walk to the Oriental Pier."
Kirill said, "A very classy hotel. Good location, near 2 night markets, near sky-train. Very good service, beautiful room and great breakfast! And simply FANTASTIC bed!!! We would definately come back one day."
Bernauer said, "Breathtaking view from breakfast room (38th floor), good price, nice rooms. Location as well good, only 5min to go to Metro station and Pattong night market."
Francis said, "The hotel was fully booked and services was below than usual . Nevertheless , the staff was friendly and helpful . Location is well , and close to Patpong night market . In addition the BTS is in walking distance and will hallow you to visit other place easily ."
geoffrey said, "This is one of the finest hotels in Thailand for the price, service was excellent the food had the best of thai food with a good mix of euro food at the lunch buffet. We quality fittings,we willreturn to the Sofitel again."
Peter said, "This is an amazing Hotel on Silom Road. Wonderful and charming staff. Close to Skytrain station, patong market etc. Great breakfast."
Lefebvre said, "Very good quality and price mix."
Robbie said, "Second time we have responsive and the beds are incredibly comfortable (surpassing most 5 star hotels I have more popular, but if you can get it, book it, you won t be disapponited. The staff are wonderful and helpful, decent breakfast. The only downside is the small swimming pool, but since I don t use it, it doesn t matter to me."
Felicity said, "Brilliant. Superb breakfast, spoilt for choices. Excellent location, quiet yet close to skytrain."
Tom said, "It was like walking into HEAVEN, the staff were very attentive, to room was awesome with a full length windo view from the 33rd floor - go for the club room upgrade it is soooo worth it! I loved happy hour from 5 - 7 PM free drinks and munchies. Breakfast was superb - beautifully cooked eggs and bacon with great coffee and tea. The service was great - Only wrong thing was advice the first night on a goof eating place the front door guy suggested Tan Yings - band choice - DON T GO THERE - just up the street is a place called 222 Silom next to the narai Hotel - brilliant thai food - just great.I d go back - actually I will be there again from the 11th - 14th July for anohter three night on our way from Australia back to heathrow. Please stay there - you ll love it!!"
Suzanne said, "checked in rather early so had concerns about getting into a room with a little jet lag - we had a club room booked and we were taken to the club lounge given cold towels and welcome drink were explained to about the happy hour between 17.00 and 19.00 when there are lovely snacks and free drinks, - (which was a lovely respite from the heat and bussle of Bangkok) We were then given our room immediately .the room was fine - great bed and big shower and bath. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. The hotel was in a great position and I would not hesitate is staying there again."
Peter said, "Great Hotel, we couldn t believe the amount of staff and how friendly they were. Plenty of Sawadee Kah/Krup with the traditional Wei s always greeted us at any time of day or night. Hotel is well situated on Silom road with easy access to the expressway to get to/from the airport, with taxis and Tuk Tuk s out the front and the Skytrain not too far away (easy walk). We only had breakfast there as part of our package but it delivered everything that you could ask for. The floor to ceiling glass in the rooms makes for great views, we requested as high as possible and got a room on the 23rd floor. The bathroom was excellent with a great shower and separate bath. I have read other reviews on Trip Advisor website giving the pool a not so good rating. I would say that depends on what you are in Bangkok for, if you are there for a luxurious break then the pool wont give you that resort feel, but if you are like us and in Bangkok for shopping on the way home, then it provides the basic requirements. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay in the Silom area, for AUD$125 it is better than anything we have 5 mins walk from the Skytrain.I to used a Sofitel Card and was upgraded to a business room, what luxury on the 30th floor and use of the club lounge. Be in the lounge at 6.30pm with a drink in one hand and camera in other as the sun setting over Bangkok is out of this world.Great staff, even the bellboy knows your name."
HS said, "Nice Posh Decor at first, and soon, I found out that the interiors in genral were dark with poor lighting and dark furniture, and made me feel unpleasant until the second night. The bed was comfy but the separate shower booth was blocked/water overflowed and then saw some disgusting grime coming out from the drain hole. dust fell off from the ceiling outlet panel soon. Asked the floor maintenance guy to fix the drain hole later but he barely understood English, the room safety box did not have English Instruction and could not keep my money and passport. I mentioned these two problems to the front desk but kind of got a DISMISSIVE feedback.I would like to say this was only with one particular girl at the front desk but that girl should have been trained to serve my need better. I did not hear any apology for the inconvenience I commented on-definitely an attitude issue. Maybe a French Influence?Next day, Drain problem solved but no English Manual for the safety box, and the room was not cleaned for the second night! Asked for the towels, and the same guy just handed over two bath towels but no hand towels or floor mat. The room has a great view to Silom road, just like Manhattan Midtown. The airconditioning is only controled with fan speed, the temperature cannot be changed and either you have to switch off the fan adn get stale air, or switch it back on to low fan, and get 18C/50F cold dry air, which condensate the floor-to-ceiling glass windows from outside. The Lobby is also dark, but decorated to impress guests. However, I find it not as grand or progressive as any 4 star NYC hotels. They have One Bakery, Le Notre, at the lobby and that was the only nice thing I enjoyed. The porters were friendly but I saw them being rude to the taxi drivers once. Two girls hold the main entrance door all the time and that was also unnecessary. The Swimming pool was small, just twice the size of a large jacuzzi pool, however, nobody was really swimming or working out. The buffet breakfast on 2nd floor was nicely presented but the food was not that impressive. So, my impression is that the hotel took more care of how they should appear, but missed out the guests personal comfort level. I did not feel relaxed or impressed. Too many eyes watching you, especially, when the basic maintenance was not done properly. And after checking out the hotel, I found out all my cash was missing only at the airport. I really wished they had provided an English Manual for the safety box.My verdict after many visits to 4-5 star hotels in major cities, Sofitel was for the business visitors, and the first time guest to NYC style decor. but it lacks the warmth/hospitality from the heart. I would not return to this hotel next time I am in BKK. I find Davis BKK hotel as a better alternative unlike some other reviews._______________And, for those who think of the Oriental hotel, The name you heard is all, I checked it out, an outdated looking hotel in the middle of slum dingy back street, next to the sad old Oriental pier. You will only want to stay there to feel you are one of those waspy folks in fancy track suits. I saw lots of families who were dressed the same track suits like the movie, Royal Tannenbaum. and saw only one Thai woman dressed in a evening gown. The rooms were decorated just like better version of 3 star hotel decors from 80 s-Miami Style?. I just laughed a lot. The last thing I expected was to deal with those who want to prove how important they should appear by checking in the hotel or to dress in 3 piece suits in the middle of slums with mosquitos and poor locals walk by. just genuine shallow."
Mrs. said, "Fantastic hotel! The staff really makes you feel welcome and they are prepared for your arrival and stay. We had our two children with us and very clean with a stunning view from both rooms over Bangkok. We had arranged pick-up service with the hotel. However, a taxi costs a 10th of the hotel fee, so we took a cab (one with a meter) back to the airport. Staying at the Club Lounge means executive check-in and out, breakfast at the 27th floor and cocktails and appetizers in the afternoon. Nice breakfast and great appetizers! They are very good with kids. The swimmingpool is rather little, but as it wasn t overcrowded this was not a big deal."
frederick said, "wow !!what a hotel. we arranged a limo pick up from the airport and from then until we checked out there was nothing to complain about. we were booked into the club room, which i would reccommend to anyone. the special treatment at check in was a nice touch . room was excellent. this is a hotel that i will visit again. 10 out of 10."
Heidi said, "Beautiful hotel......great breakfast with fantastic view! Worth the pricy rate. Bangkok can be congested and busy so its nice to come back to a first-class place like this! Pool, nothing special, but cooled us off."
Chris said, "Nice hotel, swimmingpool to smallstaff very friendly! only the gymstaff is strange, the were checking us non stop!would stay there again"
Ms. said, "I would not stay here again. The breakfast was truly appaling. The aircon in our room was not working properly. The cocktails were all poor imitations of the real thing (just like the stuff for sale in the nearby Patpong market). The dinner was shockingly bad. For a french hotel you would at least expect the food to be decent. Any complaints to the staff were met with smiles and completely no action taken to correct ir even apologise."
Paul said, "Hotel and location great, the pool was too small and was not inviting at all. The restaurants and service was top notch. We had business on Silom Road and New Road, but also on Sukumvit so the location was fine, close to the BTS train and walking distance. We made reservation and payments in advance thru Sawadee.com and everything was in good order as we arrived. Will definitely stay again."
Caroline said, "We thought this hotel was fantastic. We the view from our room with floor to ceiling windows was amazing. People always very friendly and staff can t do enough to help. If we had to say anything negative it would be that the pool is small and doesn t get much sun, but who needs a pool when you are in Bangkok!!"
David said, "I I was so impressed I wanted to come back! I took a Club room and found it well worth the extra, with free drinks daily at happy hour, breakfast available in comfort in the exclusive Club lounge. and very helpful ladies always available to answer questions at the Club desk. The bed was exceptionally comfortable; and all the hotel facilities were first class. All the staff were kind, helpful, polite and very attentive. It is simply in my view the best place to stay in Bangkok at the moment - and I have said, "Wow! what a super hotel, service is excellent.Recommend booking a Club room for that extra special service. The staff really make you feel welcome and the swimming pool on the roof is an extra bonus. Take care in the Japenese restaurant- the food is awesome and the courses go on for ever!Would definitely come back again."
Wayne said, "Excellent first class hotel situated close to the sky train and Patpong night market."
Sarah said, "Excellent hotel, have definitely recommend it. All rooms are great but the club room is amazing value. Service is impeccable and a really stylish hotel."
Richard said, "Wonderful hotel with nice, sleek design. clean. The bed could easily have slept 4. Staff made you feel special (in a hotel whith 300+ rooms) and service was as it should be in a 5 star hotel.Breakfast was at the 38th floor with a wonderful view over the city. Even better was the V9 nightclub on the 37th which only opened after sunset, when the city was all lit up. We had a regular check out at noon, but since our plane only left at midnight we got the opportunity to store our luggage and use the gym s shower in the evening.Wouldn t mind staying there again."
Elisabeth said, "This is a great luxury hotel we can really recommend. We booked an executive room (big and nice with a great view of Bangkok), got private check-in, free 30 min Internet daily, free evening drinks. Great serviceoriented staff that go even beyond all expectations. This was our second stay here and we will definitely come back!"
MR said, "Excellent hotel, very friendly staff, club room excellent value including free drinks at happy hour."
Claudia said, "Excellent hotel! Very tasteful interior, great service, great location. Will definitely stay in the Hotel again!! Not sure if I would choose Clubroom again as Bangkok was so exciting but also we didn t want to miss out on the free drinks in the hotel. Normal rooms start on the 10th floor anyway, so you will be high up in any case."
Ola said, "This is the most perfect hotel that we ever have been to. They were really taking care of us. We didn´t had to move a finger. We booked a clubroom and then we had our breakfast in a special lounge at 27th floor. A beautiful hotel you just have to stay in. We travelled with 3 children and there was no complains ever from the staff. Thank you and we will see you next time in Bangkok."
Clevent said, "Wow this hotel is fantastic. We booking a Club Room - service is that little bit extra special. As a Club class resident we had our breakfast seperate to everyone else on the 27th floor, overlooking Bangkok city. Also you get a few little extras, such as free drinks and nibbles during 5-7pm and a room above floor 27. We were on the 29th and had a fantastic view. The hotel has a stylish, contempary theme throughout and will not disappoint."
Mr. said, "Nice modern hotel with easy reach to the sky train.Excellent service."
Mr. said, "Great hotel, perfect service, nice location"
Mark said, "Once again I enjoyed a week stay with the Hotel Sofitel-Silom. The staff, rooms, restaurants and hotel facilities were great! I highly recommend this Hotel for any traveler."
Mr. said, "We comfortable and the pillows in the Club room were superb. Excellent service and pleasant staff. A little mre expensive than average but well worth it."
Alban said, "Very pleasant hotel, good value."
P said, "Excellent hotel. Modern and luxurious 4-star. Newly renovated so all stuff are fresh. We had a Club room and check-in service on club floors were first class. Very spacious room."
John said, "The service and accomodations were excellent."
