S said, "ok staff and the hotel was ok too.."
Mr. said, "Nice hotel, room was clean and there is no traffic around the hotel. The Nana Skytrain Station is 500 m to go, but no problem: There is an own Hotel- Tuk Tuk, which drives you from the hotel to the Nana-Station ."
Carsten said, "Hmmm, the location is a little awkward, a TukTuk will bring you to Sukhumvit but you might have to walk back..The reception is friendly and helpful, my small room was in need of renovation, couldnt lock the window, broken Remote for the TV and a barely warm shower. The Place belongs to the likes of Prince, Florida, Manhatten or Grace Hotel etc., there you get the same 60s feeling, but for 800 Baht, even including a bad breakfast sometimes."
Tomas said, "Ok hotel whith wery good staff,a little bit off on soi 8,but fully compensated by free tuk tuk to sukomwhit."
Marco said, "For 1300 baht in Bangkok you get a decent room; when you take a shower, the floor in the bathroom remains a long time wet though. Location is a bit far in the soi but they ve got efficient free tuktuk shuttle service from the hotel to the main road and the other way round, 24 hours a day! Indian management speaking a perfect English. The only weird thing is that I ve been asked to give a copy of my credit car as a guarantee for the minibar. I refused to give my c/c so they asked me instead to make a deposit of 500 baht which they gave me back upon check out. Overall good value for money."
Lalith said, "My second visit to this hotel, and the service was efficient and friendly as before. No frills, but clean and pleasant, a good place to sleep, which is what I needed. Breakfast unfortunately not included, but there are several nice places down the Soi. It s a 5 - 10 minute walk to the Nana BTS if you don t want to wait for the free tuktuk shuttle. I will be back..."
orjan said, "good hotel good location close to shopping and bars."
Mervyn said, "Excellent. Truly superb. We had a junior suite and enjoyed the extra space for a small extra cost. If there was a minor complaint and I mean minor perhaps a few more towels would be nice, you tend to shower often! The laundry service was brilliant, the room always cleaned impeccably, the reception staff always polite and helpful and the tuk-tuk driver almost became a personal friend. My Thai girlfriend would indicate “next trip roundas we ate at the bar at the end of Soi 8, and next time round he’d wait for us to finish our meal.By comparison, we spent 4 days in Pattaya at a supposedly comparable quality hotel. Our room there was cleaned only twice and laundry done once during our stay. We arrived back at Royal Asia Lodge at about 2pm and within minutes the maid appeared and requested our laundry. At 7pm it was returned washed, ironed and beautifully folded quality service. The only reason for not staying at RAL on my next trip would be because they hadn’t got a suite available, I certainly wouldn’t try anywhere else first."
David said, "What do you expect for 1300 bath per night in Bangkok. Filty room and bathroom was what we got. We will find another hotel for our next visit. Location and personell was OK."
Daniel said, "the hotel is ok. friendly and helpfull staff. will stay there again."
Forrest said, "The hotel was a bit old, the staff was ok. The main problem with this place is that children are working there. I was apalled with that. Isnt that against the law?"
Ronald said, "I dirtier every time. I found a newer and much cleaner place already."
Henrik said, "The room was really nice and the staff was helpful and friendly. Please note that a fitness room is no longer available although it is still mentioned at the hotel website. The hotel pick-up service at the Sukhumwit road was fine, however a few times I waited 15 minutes. I really have no complaints over the hotel but will consider a hotel nearer to the main road and without a fitness room as it is not available anyway...I can recommend the Royal Asia Lodge if you are looking for a hotel at the quite end of the soi 8."
Tony said, "This is for the defence of this small hotel that I ve recently managed? Does it always have to be some young pretty Thai girls that smiles at every silly things that she mai ko jai while working at the front desk? I had more bad experiences with Thai receptions with their inappropriate English as a receptionist partly because the Thai language uses the key question word at the end of their sentences to indicate to them that it is a question. This means words like mai and a-rai at the end of the sentences to indicate it is a question and not a comment. The problems of confusion with languages in a multi-national place like Bangkok is very common, I ve learn to be more patient and always double check to make sure what I say is understood. When a thai person gives no reply after your question, probably means that person doesn t understand that you are asking a question and not just making a commend.Anyway, this hotel in my opinion is you get what you paid for. I like the quietness away from Sukhumvit Rd but no too far so I can still use the BTS Skytrain."
Cheenang said, "Very convenient location. Good staff. Nice to have the so-called tuk-tuk (more like a golf cart). Only issue is the rather dated rooms. For the price, the rooms could have been in a better condition. Still, a good place to stay."
private said, "This hotel is acceptable if you’re a tight budget, make no mistake its not a hidden jewel. My biggest pev about this hotel was noise to begin with I just came back from my holiday 08/12/2007 there was two hotels being built near the hoteland there is a third being renovated. I emailed ahead to the hotel asking if it was quiet I was reassured (lies) it was peaceful hotel. The aircon in the room sounds is silent, but outside your window every room has an individual unit which rattles/hums/shakes when you put the aircon on. If you have window open or closed you can hear the rooms above/below aircon units. The in room fridge is noisy and worst still smelled strongly of onions. The hotel staff literally shout to each other outside your door at 8.00am every morning no consideration that quests actually might want to relax. I moved rooms in the end hoping that higher meant quieter haha no the higher you go the more hotels facilities there are near the pool & Jacuzzi are pumps or something that make random noises during the night. Aside from the noise the towels stank (I think they just dried them and switched rooms). My hot water went off three times, each time I had to wait 15 mins for someone to fix it. My tv only picked some of stations it was meant to, I was told to tune it in myself??? No breakfast is included either, oh and I think my minibar bill was rather high (900baht) given I only drank water from the fridge. Good points the cleaner’s wont touch or move your stuff aside from thatnothing comes to mind I would say the shuttle service was good but it was never there when I wanted a ride!"
Henry said, "Good location for people who,d like to experience the nightlife of the area while staying in a more quiet area and for a low tariff."
roberto said, "Not good !! I change 3 room because air con and/or tv dosen t work. Room large but not clean. Bath room not confortable. Room service is non attention to room supply ( eg toilet paper, shampoo or other amenitis). I NO came back. Expensive and no brekfast.Le camere, anche se grandi, non sono pulitissime. Ho cambiato tre stanze per problemi con l aria condizionata e/o il televisore che non andavano. Il servizio è scadente e disattento ( mancava carta igenica e shampoo). Caro e colazione non compresa. Lo SCONSIGLIO a tutti. Si puo trovare di meglio"
Ashokkumar said, "Hotel in nice location in Shukumvit.Staff very courteous.Close to nightlife also.Hotel has become old but was OK.Will definitely stay again also will recomend to friends.Value for money."
Lalith said, "Great location and friendly English speaking staff. Very comfortable room with a safe was well worth the price. No breakfast but lots of neighborhood restaurants. Close to overhead rail station, with easy access to night life and shopping malls. Will book again next time."
Kimberly said, "RA was our third choice in the Sukhamvhit corridor, first two booked out. Friendly staff, rooms a bit dated but clean. Mattress was lumpy. Free golf cart ride to NANA skytrain station at end of soi. OK affordable property for a night or two."
Nadeem said, "good hotel & good service & friendly staffs"
Jeffrey said, "Nice, clean hotel in good area. Staff friendly and helpful"
Mr.K said, "Reasonable and Good hotel.Service was good.Staffs were very kind and friendly. The location was good.Tuku-Tuku was very convenient."
Yala said, "It was my second time in royal asia lodge hotel ! the hotel is not far from the airport (about 30 min by taxi ,you pay 400 thb) and close to the metro station (5min by walk)very friendly staff, the hotel is safe and the room are clean and smell good ! the hotel is located in sukhumvit road quarter, a business quarter where are located the best hotel in bangkok (sheraton,...) but it is also a quarter with a lot of animation (night club, pub, shopping, parc) !!! I think it s a great place for the price"
P.Ananthakrishnan said, "My stay in Royal Asia Lodge was wonderful. The front-desk boys were very helpful and the tuk-tuk to the main road was both comfortable and fun. The rooms were pretty basic but very clean. I shall again stay in this hotel whenever I visit Bangkok. P.Ananthakrishnan"
P.Ananthakrishnan said, ""
Stephen said, "Good value for money, hotel could use an update, but was clean and everything worked fine. Staff was friendly and accomodating. Since the hotel is about a 5 min walk from BTS, the complimentary tuk-tuk golf cart certainly helped."
Natasa said, "nothing much, but we were not much in the room. The doors are not to tight, especially as we had a door-to-door room, which we did not find delux . next time was better thoug. Friendly staff and good price."
Sergey said, "We I guess that the Royal Asia Lodge was typical of non luxury accomodation. Whilst the rooms were shabby and the air conditioning noisy, the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff made up for this Overall the hotel was very good value for money. I think I would recommend his hotel to budget tourists."
Johan said, "If you re looking for value for money hotel then I recommend this hotel! The room was old but clean and nice. Little dark with only one small window. Big fridge. The room was not maid until 5 pm every dayThe hotel is located deep into Soi 8, they have free tuk-tuk service down to Sukhumvit Road ( 5 minutes walk). Skytrainstop NANA is just around the corner, great location!Rooftop facilities out of service, but possible to use the pool at the next building, Royal Asia Paradise. The facilities has been out of service for long time according to this travel-report forum!!!Very freindly and helpful staff."
CLEMENT said, "VALUE FOR $$, GOOD LOCATION WITH FREE SHUTTLE SERVICE TO/FROM NANA BTS SKY TRAIN. ACCESSIBLE AMENITIES AROUND THE HOTEL. ROOM IS CLEAN, SPACIOUS AND COMFORTABLE BED WITH VENTILATION FAN. GOOD ENGLISH SPEAKING FRIENDLY FRONTDESK. STRONGLY RECOMMEND FOR BUDGET TRAVELLERS. DEFINITELY MY IDEAL CHOICE FOR NEXT VISIT.."
Hakan said, "Hotel location deep into the soi.Annoying extra charges for things like breakfast, internet, etc.Rooms very dark and look a bit run down.Acceptable."
William said, "Rooms clean and Tidy with Big fridge no complaints there. However they charged 30 Baht/day for stored luggage even though we were booked in later that month which we feel is unfair as the reason for rebooking was some where to keep the suitcases."
KM said, "Positive:- Royal Asia Lodge is at the quiet end of Soi 8, not much traffic.- Quite frequent Complimentary Tuk-Tuk service to Sukhumvit Rd (50 meters away to Nana BTS). They even have a Tuk-tuk call box outside a pub at beginning of Soi 8. Look out for red sign board on the right hand side after turning into Soi 8.- Convenient to go anywhere by BTS Skytrain. Just outside of Soi 8 is Nana BTS. From BTS station to hotel is about 500 meters, by walking is about 10 minutes.- Prompt Taxi call service at hotel, even at 5am. Taxi arrived at hotel within 5 minutes to pick us up. Taxi to Survanabhumi Airport cost 400THB inclusive of toll way charge. Very reasonable price.- Friendly Front Desk staff.- A few restaurants and a 24-hrs convenient store along Soi 8.- Hot shower is warm enough, and enough water pressure.- Relatively cheap hotel in the Sukhumvit area, but what you paid is what you will get.Negative:- Rated as 3 stars hotel, however the room facilities are really old. Certainly needs renovation. Should rate as 2-stars. Bed with quecking sound, uncarpeted bedroom floor, water cannot drain off wash basin, in-room safe box available but have to pay extra.- Roof top facilities out of service, but can use the pool at the next building, Royal Asia Paradise.- Under-staffed. Only 1 staff at Front Desk, so check-in process takes long time.- Will not back to this hotel, not because it is really bad, but rather try for other hotels around Sukhumvit area. Plenty of USD25-30 hotels around Sukhumvit or Silom area."
Mr. said, "Good hotel, great location for all the nightlife of the city. Will stay again."
Ingrid said, "It was ok, it was clean but the bathroom was not ok. Near to almost every thing and very nice staff."
anonymous said, "Good location on fairly quiet street and very close and convenient to shopping and Skytrain. Lobby is nice, rooms are spacious with some drab or rundown features. It s trying to be more elegant than what it can pull off based on the condition of its furnishing but overall it s a good inexpensive place to stay. The restaurant, however, is HORRIBLE - overpriced, boring, poorly prepared and possibly the only BAD food I had in Thailand."
Mr.Tore said, " Sukhumvit, or 5 miutes walk. The room was ok, the staff too. Probably a little understaffed as the room was not maid until 5 pm every day. The hotel gives ok value for money, but is in a need for an refurbishment. The swimmingpool was out of order, but there was an available pool in the building next door."
Gary said, "The place is a dump and badly in need of a serious upgrade. Water pressure is almost non-existent. Stained carpets, smelly, musty rooms. The plus side is that it was cheap and the cleaning staff was superb. Hotel staff at checkin were worthless, because I didn t have my evoucher they couldn t tell me if I had a room or not."
Edward said, "Overall is just OK (clean although a little old and dark), and it is located at the end of Sukhukvit Soi 8. Extremely basic for that price with no complimentary breakfast and not even 2 bottles of drinking water. Luckily they provide free Tuk-Tuk service to the main street which is just 50 metres away from Nana BTS."
Yen said, "This hotel sucks. I had asked for a non-smoking room but when we arrived, we were given a smoking room. I had noticed on some of the doors that there was actually a plaque that stated Non-smoking Room , but the plaque was not on the door for the room I was assigned. And of course the room reeked of smoke. When I told the reception guy (who was in my room with me) he said he couldn t smell any smoke and that it was the hotel was full so he couldn t move me to any other room. I called him on his bluff and argued until he finally confessed that there was another room I could see. He also said that there must have been a previous guest who had smoked in the room cause he could smell the smoke. So he blatantly lied to me twice, which I thought was totally unneccessary. When I told him he had lied to me, he said nothing. No apology, nothing. The 2nd room he showed me did have the Non-smoking Room sign on the door and it didn t smell, but curiously enough, it had an ashtray in the room. The air conditioner didn t work in the room...it would turn on for a while and then would shut down so we kept waking up hot and sweaty during the night. Also the pool was under construction which the Sawadee website did not post at the time of booking. I found my stay at the hotel, extremely disappointing. We found a new hotel to stay at cause the room, the amenities and the service at the Royal Asia Lodge SUCKED."
Sukanya said, "Good Hotel , Nice location. It just need to work on that hotel shuttle to the Sukhamvit main road. Many times i had to call the hotel to notify the shuttle operator to come pick me up ( took around five minutes ). Other than than that its good on the budjet hotel."
Langlois said, "First from what I read of some other people I want to say: You enter a Budget Hotel, DO NOT EXPECT the same service and standard as a 4 Stars one .So the location is brilliant, Sky Train, stores, restaurants. The tuk tuk is free but honestly it s not really far away either (5 mins walk or so), it s quiet, it s in my eyes probably the most important thing in Bangkok, may be I have been lucky with my neighbours too. The aircon was fairly noisy but I barely use it, so people who need to be in an Igloo to sleep this may not be the best room/place. House cleaning was fast and cheap, thumbs up. Sometime towels or sheets were stained but obviously clean (just the kind of stain you can t remove regardless of how many time you wash them), this did not bother me. I did not have a bathroom so I stuck to the shower which for this time of year was plenty.I had no problems with insects and other nightcrawlers. So to summarise the place looks and is old, the amenities are minimum (small pool, small jacuzzi) but I did not come to Thailand to stay in my hotel all day. Rooms are spacious, Tv is so-so depending on the channels, no internet in rooms, but there is a safe in the room, it s a cheap hotel for a cheap and pleasant trip. The staff has been polite but not overdoing it either, and they all spoke english from decent to fluent. I will come again for sure"
Andreas said, "room was older but ok. Aircon took extremely long until the room got a little cooler. water pressure on shower was very low. the transport to the beginning of the soi sometimes took longer to wait for than to walk the distance.the personel was nice. for the price it was probable ok. probably will not stay there again though."
Tyler said, "The Royal Asia Lodge is definitely a sad and tired little hotel but offers a decent price for the location. Internet access kinda sucks and they make you pay for it. All in all it s alright. Read more about it at my (a href= http://www.thailand-ho.com/asia/travel/comments/royal-asia-lodge-bangkok-review/ ) review of the Royal Asia Lodge on Thailand Ho!(/a)"
Balasenthil said, "Good value for money. i took a standrad double room with kingsize bed. but found three good indian restaurant near by, so it was not a problem, since royal asia provide free TUK-TUK service to sukumvit road which is just 2 minutes away.Only thing is rooms look slightly old.but it doesn t matter as they maintain it very neatly, towels and bedsheets changed everyday. and good english speaking front office people is something good in a thailand where most of the hotels front office people don t speak good english. Over all i would suggest anyone looking for a decent hotel to stay ata budget price.and i would stay again here."
Nis said, "Got this sugessted bu Sawadee since my #1 prioriti was fully booked. Good value for money and lies in a qiuet area with no noises at night. Rooms are nice and clean with a ok sized bathroom. Free taxi service to the main road 24 hrs. Only problem is the breakfast. It is not included and they do not have a buffet. But it is cheap so no problem. I would go there again."
Kevin said, "Very good quiet spot, 24 hour free tuk tuk shuttle service a bonus, you can buzz from the wall at the end of the soi (as you enter soi 8 first soi on rhs red button). Hotel rooms nice enough, spacious and clean, staff friendly, front desk a bit disorganised but good value for the money. Can t comment on food as didn t try but daily laundry service, good job and reasonable rate for hotel."
Dennis said, "good hotel for the price, Bathroom not so nice , but okay"
