Denise said, "New Empire Hotel is not so new. We reserved two rooms. Had to move from one room as there was urine leaking through bathroom ceiling from toilet above. Moved across the hall without hesitation. Rooms smelled of stale smoke and wallpaper was peeling off stained walls. That said...staff was always pleasant and very helpful in assisting us with taxi fares and directions!"
Wallace said, "Arrived and found it was not what we were expecting so left for another hotel."
jonathan said, "Good service and good location near the station.A little bit old, the walls are not very clean and tghe views friom the restaurant are horrible, the breakfast is ok.Cheap"
MR.LEE said, "The hotel is located in China Town, very easy access to all the restaurants there. The hotel has Mandarin speaking staff and they are very helpful to guest and give correct and value information. The room is clean but the carpet is little old, the wall has paint seen peeling off and there is hole on the cupboard. Hot shower is not working, for a single traveling person s stay, overall comment is still acceptable for the rate they charge."
Juergen said, "Good location in Chinatown near Wat Traimit and the China Gate. A lot of good restaurants nearby. Hotel very old and smelly. Carpets in the rooms disgusting!Staff friendly, but avoid the Hotel-laundry(paid 100Bath for 3 garments, which returned unwashed). Poor service in the Hotel-Coffee-Shop! I would recommend to stay here no longer than 2 nights!Much better service in the Chinatown Hotel 50 meters away with a very good restaurant and Internet."
Leah said, "Older and run down. The paint was peeling and there were water stains on the bathroom ceiling. Included breakfast was decent and the staff was friendly. Easy walk to the train station."
Cameron said, "If you are looking for a nice 2 star hotel close to the china-town markets and a short walk (5 min) to Hua Lamphong MRT Station you cannot go past the New Empire. A few of the previous comments left here were not so flattering but you can t expect to much for the price. We come to BKK to explore, be out and about not to sit in a hotel all day, all We need is a comfortable bed to sleep in. The front rooms of the hotel can be a bit noisey so if you are bothered by this request a room on the back side of the hotel or buy a set of ear plugs from Watsons pharmacy for 69BHT. The Coffee shop included breakfast is fairly basic but there are plenty of excellent hawker stalls and coffee shops along Yaowarat Rd. My partner and i enjoyed our stay and will revisit this hotel in the future."
Comte said, "OK so this is not your fancy luxurious hotel as you can find around Sukumvit area, but it was just fine for me. The room was big enough, the bathroom perfectly clean and convenient, and the staff (most of which does not speak english aside from those at the check-in counter) were all very friendly. The airt con, as in most hotels in this price range and category is very difficult to regulate unless you happen to be equipped with a small pair of pliers (very convenient to have while traveling in Thailand). All in all I think it was quite a nice little place at a very reasonable cost. I ll definitely use it again when in this part of town."
Chew said, "The hotel is a bit old. The elevator is slow. Anyway, the receptionists are very friendly. It is quite easy to access to nearby China Town for shopping, easy access to restaurants. It is a good choice with cheap price if people do not expect much, as it provides basic needs. Good enough for rest after travelling in town!"
Birgitte said, "Nice and simple hotel. Price fair to match equipment of the room and breakfast. Staff friendly, but all not very good at English."
Milo said, "You get what you pay for. I was reminded of the hotel in The World of Suzie Wong . It was fun and very well located. My daily walks were a hoot and a half."
Anindya said, "Run down hotel; no atmosphere. Long ill-lit corridors with rooms. AC blasted right onto the bed and kept us awake.. no regulation. The bathroom was leaky and dirty. The room was itself not much better. We looked down upon the Chinatown street at night. I guess you could say you get what you pay for. But, I would advocate staying elsewehere, especially if you are with kids"
Mark said, "My room was noisy because it faced Yawarat, and the windows provided essentially no soundproofing. Food was bad. Much worse, the hotel smelled musty. Shortly after arriving, I began to feel ill with allergy symptoms. I noticed that the symptoms got worse whenever I turned on the air conditioning. Fortunately, I did not stay in the New Empire Hotel during my entire visit, as I travelled south for a few days. I switched to Bangkok City Center, located nearby on my last day. That is a far better hotel, and worth the additional expense."
Mr said, "My wife & I had a wonderful stay at New Empire Hotel recently. The exterior of the hotel is horrible and urgently needs a new coat of paint. However, as you go into the hotel, you can expect a great change in the interior of the hotel. The corridors and rooms are well maintained, very clean and bright. The counter and service staff are friendly and nice. For the price we paid for a two stars hotel; we got a four stars services. We holiday 2 to 3 times per year in Bangkok and for many years we had stay in Chinatown hotels ranging from the most expensive four stars to the low budget 2 stars hotel. The New Empire Hotel is the best for a very good rated two stars hotel. If you expected excellant buffet breakfast and excellant linens cum toiletry, this is a hotel not for you. If you paid for a budget hotel and expected minimun facilities than this is a hotel I strongly recommended."
Mr said, "My wife and I enjoyed our holiday in this budget-hotel. The exterior of the hotel is in horrible state, it needs a coat of fresh paint. However, as you step into the hotel, it is different, clean, tidy and well maintained. As this is a two stars hotel, the reception staff and room service staff give a four stars rated service. In a low budget hotel you can expect only minimum breadfast, linen and toiletries. If you expectation and demand is high, this hotel is not for you. People who paid budget price and satisfy themselves with minimun comfortable facilities then this is the hotel I strongly recommended."
Marion said, "We were very satisfied with the New Empire hotel. It is realy very good value for money. Big, clean rooms with hot showers and airconditioning. The location is super! Right in the center of China Town, close to the railway station. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We even after travelling for 5 weeks we are still convinced that this hotel is perfect!"
Mr.Frank said, "Dear fellow travellers,we just returned from Thailand, ending 3 days in Bangkok. We it is really value for money. Do not expect Western 4 Star comfort and beauty - but the rooms are really O.K. (big, clean, A/C, TV). Try to get a room on the backside of the hotel, no view, but much less noisy. We had a street side room and it was somewhat noisy, but giving a birds eye view on the Bangkok traffic mess and some interresting backyards. When back in Bangkok again we ll definitly go back there again - just ideally located...Enjoy your trip,Frank & Marlies"
John said, "This was my first trip to Thailand, so i didn t know what the expect. i thought paying 800 bahts a night would give you a decent place. i was wrong and this hotel is wrong. First of all, we told our taxi driver where we were staying, so we told him and he snickered. The worst is yet to come. It seemed to be very shady, i m sure you can tell by the appearance. be very careful of your belongings. BE ESPECIALLY careful of your passport! Something very odd had happened with my friends passport where it magically reappeared. Also, before coming to Thailand, i was told to check out the hotel room to see if there were any peepholes. At first i hadn t noticed any, then i saw what looked to be a peephole in the bathroom ceiling. My friends and i felt uncomfortable so we left the very next day. Perhaps it was not, but it s still very questionable. The area where it s located seems shady as well and there s nothing to do at night there. My suggestion is to look for a place that s cheaper and not in Chinatown, perhaps you ll find something much better."
Jennifer said, "Hotel was nice, clean and very secure. Staff were very helpful. It was in quite a good location for the railway station that was only about a 15 minute walk away, and also very close to the river for the express boat service. Teh main attraction nearby was Wat Trainsit, which is a most to see"
