Robin stayed at Laem Thian Resort on 03/15/2006 and said, "Superb situation, but the isolation can become a little much after a while.
The staff are very friendly, if not a bit too laid back!"
Vina stayed at Laem Thian Resort on 02/26/2006 and said, "The location is beautiful with huge dramatic boulders and ocean scenery. However the facilities are not well maintained - trash was scattered around and the water was polluted when we tried snorkelling. The bungalows are very rustic and the service was mediocre. We left after two nights and were disppointed at what could have been a really nice place if it was better taken care of."
Heidi stayed at Laem Thian Resort on 07/29/2005 and said, "I arrived in Koh Tao one day prior to my estimated arrival. As this was my fifth trip to Thailand,I didn t worry about the pick up services; as all establishments usually are present at the pier. This day, however, Pingpong from Laem Thian, didn t have any bookings, so she wasn t there... I walked about 200 m., to a combined bookstore/ travel agency. (After several visits during this 4 week holiday on Koh Tao,I consider this shop to be a very helpful and friendly place). They telephoned Laem Thian Resort. Within 40 min. I was picked up. Although the owner of Laem Thian, Pingpong, looked highly confused(I have told the woman making the phone call, that I had a reservation, (But I did not mention that it was valid from the next day...)) When I met Pingpong, she looked very happy to see me, and it was all ok that I had arrived one day too early. The drive to Laem Thian was one of the most hazardous, steep and fearfull, though slow, rides I have ever experienced. Quite a fun and Thai experience to stop along the local establishments for bottled water, ice cubes, vegetables and beer. On arrival I was amazed by the scenery. Laem Thian was a small peninsula, the hotel block and huts situating mainly on the right side, which is the beach side. This side has a sandy shore, but is not a beach suitable for children that cannot cope with rough waters. Once a coral shore, now damaged by boat anchors, but still it is picturesque and still having friendly sharks. To get to the left side waters of the peninsula you have to do some crawling and easy climbing, about 4-8 min., wear fins or bathing shoes to protect your feet when getting into the water from the rough worth it; The thousands of small fish, the corals, the clear waters and tranquility (when the dive boats were abscent)are definetly worth the struggle. Staying at Laem Thian was as having read on the internet; the accomodation was ok, as well as the surrondings beeing in need of a serious tidying up, the scenery beautiful. On arrival I could choose from 3 sea wiew huts, I picked the highest hut lucky . and stayed there for 10 days.I stayed 15 more days at this resort before going back to bangkok. (I continued my stay in the hotel block.) The peace and serenety of Laem Thian, as well as the hospitality of all the staff, makes this a place to miss. I will return to Laem Thian, and I hope the owners plans to expand/rebuild the resort will never take place."
Linda stayed at Laem Thian Resort on 03/25/2005 and said, "The location, food and service were wonderful. However Laem Thian needs a good tidy up as there is building material and other junk lying all over the place. Accommodation particularly the bathrooms need to be cleaned thoroughly."
Almasi stayed at Laem Thian Resort on 01/31/2005 and said, "We booked accomodation for two nights, but we escaped after the first night!!!
- we didn t get the room we booked,
- the room we got instead had direct sunshine all afternoon long - it was like a glasshouse,
- there is no electricity from 6 am to 6 pm !!!!!
- no hot water !!!!!
- we ordered two simple sandwiches for dinner. It took 50 minutes to get them!!!!
- the resort is located at a hideaway spot, in a small bay. The hotel is good for people who want the be away from everything. There is only one neckbraking road to the hotel, far from town, so even though the accomodation is cheap, if want to move between hotel and town you pay a lot for taxi.
ALL IN ALL: I DON T RECCOMMEND IT!"
LE stayed at Laem Thian Resort on 01/26/2005 and said, "Trés sympa, bon accueil, cadre idylique mais manque d entretien.
Rapport prix qualité satisfaisant
Situation un peu isolé, idéal pour la tranquilité, mais loin de tout !!
A découvrir quand même..."
Richard stayed at Laem Thian Resort on 01/07/2005 and said, "Laem Thian is a truly beautiful place. The ideal spot for a complete getaway from it all. The staff in the Restaurant are brilliant. Ping Pong and Ang are very nice people and work very hard to make everyone feel welcome. Food was great. The only thing I would recommend is that when you book your reservation you emphasise that you require a bungalow, otherwise you have to stay in one of the 1st floor rooms which although it has a marvellous sea view is somewhat disappointing compared to the bungalows perched on the side of the hill. We will definitely go back there again to a bungalow next time we visit Koh Tao"
Matt stayed at Laem Thian Resort on 01/03/2005 and said, "The resort is extremely hard to get too with some of the roughest roads ive been on, even a 4 wheel 200cc motorbike was too much effort on the roads.
the rooms are basic and things tend to not work, air-con worked when it wanted too and for 24hrs we had no water.
theres a family of about 20 - 30 reef sharks about 5 mins swim from the bay/cove , some get upto 1.5 meters so its differently worth seeing.
for 1000br , i dont think its worth it"
Gavin stayed at Laem Thian Resort on 11/16/2004 and said, "This is a great resort if you really want some peace and quiet, we spent most of our days snorkeling / playing cards / eating. The snorkeling off the small beach which is right outside the lounging / eating area is fantastic. Apparently if the tide is right you can see shark(harmless small ones) but we never went out far enough, there was plenty so see just a few yards in. The staff are excellent and really friendly, it was the owners birthday whilst we were staying and they invited us to celebrate it with them, they fed us and got us drunk free of charge on thai whisky and rum. Would definitaly stay here again but be warned is isolated and their is no electricity during the daylight hours."
Duane stayed at Laem Thian Resort on 08/30/2004 and said, "Quaint bungalows, beautiful views and delicious food.Well away from the hustle and bustle. Great place to escape with someone special."
