Stephen stayed at Lipalodge Beach Resort on 03/28/2006 and said, "Not a bad place although overpriced for what they are offering.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Bungalows are nice and set in pleasant surroundings which are beautifully lit at night. Rooms are good size, shower good, bed however was uneven and uncomfortable.
We had lunch here on the first day and the beef burger I ordered was pretty poor so didn t eat here again (to be fair we spoke to other guests who said the food in the evening was nice). Fortunately Big John Seafood is a short walk along the beach and was excellent. The sea here is very shallow and calm with no currents so very good for children. Not good for snorkelling though. Beach had quite a lot of washed up debris on it and was not maintained. No parasols, only a few tatty sunloungers. No shade at all on beach. No pool. In fact not really anything to make you want to stick around during the day.
This resort is quite remote (not even a shop within walking distance), so you probably need a car if you are here for more than a few days. Nathon town is a short cab journey and is worth visiting but make sure you agree cab price beforehand as a few drivers tried to rip us off.
Despite the problems there was a pleasant atmosphere about the place, and we enjoyed our time here.
If they put a pool in and improved the beach it might just be worth the price.
At the moment though, you may as well go to Big John resort up the beach which seems to be offering something similar at half the price."
Calin stayed at Lipalodge Beach Resort on 02/14/2006 and said, "Lipa Lodge - Not Recommended.
This was our second vacation in Koh Samui in two years and after reading the resort's add and some reviews we decided to stay at this family owned place; big mistake. We had bungalows 107 and 108 reserved for 8 nights but we had to leave and move to a different resort after only 2 days.
First of all the food is terrible; the restaurant needs a chef or a cook. If you don't like the food here you have to call a taxi because there is no other option in a decent walking distance and for the most part there is only a dirt road and no lights (hope not to rain). There is no sandy beach like the picture posted on the web site. On a low tide you will see a 3-5 meters sandy shoreline but all lounge chairs are located at the edge of the landscape in between coconut trees and as facing West there is no direct sunlight until noon. Even so, if you decided for one of these lounge chairs you must be up early morning as they are in limited number and never enough for all guests; otherwise plenty of plastic patio chairs.
From our balconies we had a direct view to the right toward a local house (aprox. 30-40 meters) that appear not having a bathroom and not enough high vegetation around; that was disgusting!
Don't make full payment in advance; it will take hours of negotiations to get a partial refund. We lost a lot of money but happy that we got out of there. "
Zehavit stayed at Lipalodge Beach Resort on 02/10/2006 and said, "nice beach, quite remote. if you re interested in partying this is not the place for you. every outing to the nearset town of Na Thon cost 60 baht a preson. peaceful and quiet. no vendors on the beach at all - you get what you need from the staff. they can book you a massage or pedicure form Na Thon to be done on your porch. the staff is friendly though not all speak good English and might give you wrong information. the food is OK - definitely not mind blowing but nice and clean. the staff would bring it to your room upon reqest. they can also screen DVD s to your room, which is nice when the weather sucks. all in all a nice place, secluded and quiet."
Brent stayed at Lipalodge Beach Resort on 12/16/2005 and said, "a really nice small quiet, chilled out resort, beautiful views out to the islands, nice gardens, nice beach, the staff are just brilliant, food the best and cleanest we had on the island.
(big johns is in all the good food guides and was crap. no comparison)when we return to koh samui this is the place we will stay at, and we did have a good look around to compare. thanks lipa lodge, a special place."

Rein stayed at Lipalodge Beach Resort on 04/27/2005 and said, "Lipa Lodge is a nice resort, located in a very quiet area and with a great beach facing sunsets. Food is excellent and bungalows are very comfortables. I had a great stay... EXCEPT for the party of about one hundred friends of the owner who settled a stage and sleeping camp between the bungalow and the beach, with 1000W-boosted karaoke which started in the afternoon an kept on until 2am and left the place dirty for another day. Not a word of warning, just an invite to join when we asked what was it about... and then no excuse, no discount for that dreadful night. So much for advertised Beauty, seclusion and luxury , not mentioning a minimum consideration for customers."
Uwe stayed at Lipalodge Beach Resort on 02/09/2005 and said, "Lipa Lodge is a very nice bungalow resort on the quiet side of Koh Samui, not the usual busy shops and bars etc anywhere near: wonderful! The bungalows are very well kept with all amenities you would expect from a resort with higher prices. The bungalows are situated in a nice garde with high palm-trees and beautiful flowers (not all parts of the lawn gets the watering it should have, leaves it partly brown from the sun). The restaurant is situated in a big hut with no walls so you have have wonderful views and fresh air. The food is extremely good, the variety is large, prices are more than fair, the service is enchanting! It has been a holiday pretty much close to paradise. Although on the Sawadee-website they say that 7% VAT is included in rate, it is not and you have to pay it in the hotel..."
