Prem stayed at Suriwongse Hotel on 05/02/2006 and said, "Warm ,very convient ,good value for money .Leaves memories of traditional Thailand"
Mei stayed at Suriwongse Hotel on 04/10/2006 and said, "11 of us checked into 5 rooms on the 8/4/06 and on the 19/4/06. We found the rooms clean and spacious, the food was plentiful and delicious. However, upon checking out on the 8th, I encountered the very rude staff who insisted that I pay for a drinking glass that was broken in the toilet. The glass remained in the plastic bag as we had not touched it and were not aware it was broken. Although the cost was only 20 TBht, they were very rude and I refused to pay. Upon checking in on the 10th, although prebooked months earlier, they did not have the rooms ready for us (around 3 pm) and had to upgrade me to a Deluxe room which was lovely. There was coffee/tea and a kettle there, so we made 2 cups of coffee for which we were charged 50TBht. There was no sigh to warn us about the charges. Although the amounts in both incidents were small, it leaves a sour taste in our mouths that a large hotel like this can be so petty and cheap. Generally, the entire staff needs to be more polite and smiley. We asked for hot water and a bucket of ice, which the latter was delivered after several reminder calls, and the latter a good half hour later. The service here is bad.
We stayed in the Wiang Inn Hotel in Chiang Rai, and the staff there were so friendly and polite. "
Mei stayed at Suriwongse Hotel on 04/08/2006 and said, "Rooms -reasonable for value.
Staff - front desk were rude and grumpy
Location - ideal
Food -very good based on Asian palette.
Tour agent (near the coffee house entrance) - reasonably cheap and friendly staff, especially the driver Mr. Koong whom we had to drive us up to Mae Sai. He had a great sense of humour and good English. THANK YOU."
Tony stayed at Suriwongse Hotel on 04/07/2006 and said, "The hotel is pretty old, can use some renovation. The room s carpet are worn and the bathroom tiles are bit dirty. The areas is near bodies of water and have big mosquito problem with too many mosquitos got into the hotel rooms. If it wasn t for the mosquitos, I don t mind going back to the hotel again since everything else are pretty good. The free breakfast are excellent and everone are curtieous. Again, the mosquitos are a big problem."
W.K. stayed at Suriwongse Hotel on 03/07/2006 and said, "Great lobby this was probably a really nice hotel at one time. The rooms are well worn but the re big. Excellent location for night bazzar. Breakfast buffet was good. Definitely not a five star hotel but the price is right. I would stay here again."
CM stayed at Suriwongse Hotel on 03/02/2006 and said, "The hotel was disappointing. We booked a suite for 3 nights. It was on the 6th floor and we were surprised that the elevator only went to the 5th floor. We had to walk up to the 6th floor. That was the surprise.
The construction going on across the street went on day and night with bright lights at night helping to make sure that we could find the bathroom when the noise woke us up in the middle of the night. We were able to change to a different room on the 2nd day and had a lovely view of the back of the hotel next door (about 3 meters away).
When we arrived, we booked a 4th night (in addition to the three we originally booked with Sawadee.com). I paid cash for the extra night. Luckily, I kept the receipt close at hand because I was required to produce it on two separate occasions to prove that I had indeed paid for the additional night.
Most of the hotel staff was very friendly with the notable exception of the front desk people. Many appeared indifferent almost to the point of rudeness.
The food in the restaurant was mediocre. The free breakfast buffet was about what one would expect for the price. The lunch buffet was not much better.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay in Chiang Mai, but will be staying at a different hotel on our next visit."
Byron stayed at Suriwongse Hotel on 02/18/2006 and said, "Our room was a spacious suite that included two beautiful flower bouquets and a fruit basket in the room. A nice touch! The breakfast (included in the price) was adequate, but paled in comparison to the buffet at the Royal Princess around the corner (which I visited last July). The staff is very friendly and helpful. We returned to Suriwongse Hotel on 2/23 for our last two nights in Thailand and the front desk staff had already completed the reservation form for me. Everyone was exceptionally professional and polite. I highly recommend this hotel since it is a bargain for the overall amenities. "
Karl stayed at Suriwongse Hotel on 02/13/2006 and said, "Hotel is ok but in need of some major renovating as it is on the old side. Breakfast was exellent but seeing a roach crawling around the buffet area was not not to appitizing, but this is SE Asia and not a 5 star hotel."
Ronald stayed at Suriwongse Hotel on 02/13/2006 and said, "PROBABLY THE BEST LOCATIION FOR THE NIGHT MARKET. THE ROOMS COULD USE REFURBISHING .( BUT I WAS AWARE OF THAT BEFORE BOOKING) THE RESTAURANT WAS QUESTIONABLE AT BEST. BUT ALL ELSE WAS SATISFACTORY. "
Renaye stayed at Suriwongse Hotel on 02/07/2006 and said, "This hotel has the BEST location for the night market and all of the shopping in Chiang Mai. This was our second visit to Suriwongse and will probably return to this hotel because of the location. I do think the hotel is getting to look a bit shabby and run down however. The room was musty smelling and could use new carpet and furniture. The hotel staff cleaning staff is great and very friendly and the desk staff is okay."
