Sri stayed at Asia Bangkok Hotel on 06/01/2006 and said,  "Published pictures of this hotel in the web is very misleading!! Rooms are very old and not properly maintained. Example: hot water taps, although fitted with a regulator, has only two settings - hot and very hot. You can get shocked if not careful. Room was also generally dusty and we had a difficult time getting a good night s rest. Sheets were also not clean. Car park area has poor lighting and no security, except for 2nd floor, so its very dangerous getting to/from the carpark at night. Even though we booked to stay for 3 nights, we checked out after the first. For the same price or a little bit extra, there appeared to be much better choices in Bangkok. "

Mrs stayed at Asia Bangkok Hotel on 04/07/2006 and said,  "This is the 2nd time that I have stayed at the Asia, last time in 1990. This hotel is old,tatty & the rooms could do with a deep clean. Light switches were dirty, wiring was exposed, carpet was not hoover in the 9 days we were there. The rooms & bathrooms are large, but how much time do you really use them ? Whilst the hotel is very conveniently situated, particularly for the BTS, it promises more than it delivers. The hotel pool on the 5th floor is usually cold as the sun rarely gets on it. The pool on the 12th is always windy! If you don t use the restaurants & facilities like us, you would be better off staying the the Wendy House (see Lonely Planet) round the corner, right near National Stadium which provides clean ensuite rooms for 700-800 bht a night. Far better value than the Asia. "

We particularly enjoyed the pool on the 5th floor, but as you had to ring for refreshments to be brought to you this worked out too expensive. The pool area on the 12th floor (top of building) was always full, so never got to use it. We found the entrance from the sky train straight into the hotel very useful, but found it closed too early at night would have been more useful it it stayed open until skytrain closes at 12.00pm. The lounge area, chairs and carpets could do with refurbishing too. "
